- In the wake of violence in Charlottesville in 2017, a Salt Lake City resident named Jonna Ramey wrote an open letter to white nationalists that was titled, “What Is Wrong With You?” Her letter was published in The Salt Lake Tribune and was soon read by millions.

It's more complicated than that as the allies were fighting on the side of the biggest butcher of the 20th century(bar Mao Zedong), Joseph Stalin. He had plenty of death camps that didn't get liberated.

They were horrible, but Stalin didn't build Zyklon-B showers he first had tested on people with disabilities before unleashing them on other people. Invading the USSR to free its citizens is what you call a total waste of time and resources. Napoleon figured out in one winter that trying to take Russia was a really bad idea. Hitler had "never start a land war in Asia" shoved down his throat.
Finally, the biggest butcher of the 20th century wasn't even Mao Zedong, whose "Great Leap Forward" was brutal in its numbers. He was named Thomas Midgley, Jr. An American chemical engineer, his two biggest weapons were his brainchildren, leaded gasoline and freon. Untold millions of people and animals slaughtered because he didn't think through the ramifications of his choices and worse, supported misinformation campaigns about them.

How did you manage to convince yourself that “voting blue” will protect democracy? Do you have any real understanding for what constitutes a democracy? Fascism means the government has authority over everything. Speech, guns, religion, food, clothes, cars.

Some of us who are white and have challenging lives due to illness and relative economic poverty feel exactly the same way as the writer of the letter. My dad fought. My family has grown by birth and marriage over the years and now includes wonderful Jewish, Chinese, Pakistani, Vietnamese and African Canadian members. When you add my friends to the mix, it's like a mini United nations. As my Grandmother always said "Variety is the Spice of Life."
