In my high school, an older gentleman gave a presentation on how Black music influenced modern music and mentioned that he was heartbroken that his teenage daughter thought that this song was written for Shrek. (This was about 2008, so way before Shrek Memes)
But I have to disagree - not only is Shrek a fantastic movie, but millions of people would have never heard of this song in any way without it.
