    Ok my dude you ... I totally respect you making this video and no shade but there's factors we need to correct and I've been a foxbody/SN95 driver since the 80's and this is the ONLY cars I drive.
    1. It's not Trimik .. it's TREMEC... "Trim-Mick"
    2. It's not Plenium ... It's PLENUM
    3. Gears is probably THE ABSOLUTE SECOND THING you probably want to do with these SN95's and pretty much any car and yes, like you said it totally changes the speed game installed.
    4. You can replace the Cold Air Intake first, that PLENUM will not make a difference right now getting started because the fact the air going in won't change, velocity will not change. You are however leaving room to grow.
    5. The pulleys from 99-04 are ALL the same, there's no difference in them
    6. If you are going to run it hard, you got HOTTER when N/a... COLDER when you start bringing boost. You go colder then you risk fouling your plugs.
    7. These cars are capable of seeing 400hp at the wheels with better cams and intake.
    8. Camshaft swaps depending on your kit can yield around 35-40hp.(These stock heads are more restrictive than a shy virgin)
    9 Correct, these cars are more than capable in the low 12's with little work involved. low 11's if you snag a set of trickflow heads.
    10. You can grab a Superchips handheld tuner for light tuning control of the car, turning off traction control PERMANENTLY, timing and some other light tuning abilities.
    11. You missed one factor... your mid pipe. If you want that pure race car high pitch sound, X-Pipe(personal I feel these produce better powerbands) or an H-Pipe for that low farty 80's rumble .
    12. Tires are a big factor. A set of Nitto 555r's or NT05's at least in the rear will give your car a damn good hook with the right pressures and heat. Those brands even hook in the rain depending on the road lol.

      Thankyou. Everyone swears on things that add maybe 10hp max like an intake or plenum when it's not fixing the restrictive heads. Save the cash on silly things and spend it on gears, weight reduction and boost/headwork

I always heard the 2V sucks however considering the cost of the vehicle it exceeded my expectations after i did all my mods (stock was pretty bad). The nice part is you can get good used motors all day long for under $600 out of crown vics 02 and up.The 4 valve is not a cheap motor to wear out.I really think these cars don't get the credit, i remember the old fox bodies that came with 215hp and you needed to swap the heads before you can even think about getting near 300hp at the rear wheels. I'm just barely under 300hp with just bolt on and cams with stock heads...not to bad for 4.6 liters.

    Good info here for sure but some other info needs to be said especially for a new mustang owner. As far as the under drive pulley system go. don't just go get the cheapest thing out there, steeda is the only company who has a rubber insert for vibration with is a must. a solid mount will in time ruin your oil pump. Also a good short throw like MGW dose wonders for the t-45 and the TR3650. I fulling built my motor, fully forged Manley internals, +.20 over bore, over size crank, Melling billit oil pump, ect my car is a 99 but I build a tr3650 and swapped it into mine. my compression is now 10.0:1 with factory PI heads and 9.6:1 with trick flow heads to be ready for the next step F.I. she dyno 277rwhp & 311 TQ after custom tune. 4.6L love forced induction even at factory internals the down side is the crank won't hold any more then 450 FWHP and even there it's a ticking time bomb. All in all nice video and car. just wanted to help the Mustang community a bit, sorry if I stepped on your toes by throwing my 2 sinces in.

    My first mods with mustangs are good tires, subframe connectors, torque box reinforcements, a decent clutch, short shifter, and gears..none of these free up or add any power but will help utilize what power you already have and is a great foundation for more power later on..I guess it depends on where you live because if you pay more than $500 for parts and labor on a gear swap where I’m from you got ripped off..and to be fair the 12hp hp discrepancy on the Dorman was on a boosted car with big heads and cams..on a regular mild na car it’s more like 3-4 peak at best..it robs power but it’s mostly a placebo effect because it’s power you won’t feel...I’ll take the loss in power for the peace of mind that comes with an aluminum crossover (I am not endorsing the Dorman at all don’t take it that way 😂🤣)

    if u have had a chance to compare parts on a dyno, u would know the factory air tube is actually not restrictive, it the air box and filter . 3.73 gears are a lil better for street driving and 4.10s are more for drag racing. under drive pulleys are a waste of money, some testing wont show any gains and separating the crank damper from the crank throws off the engine balance, not good for main bearing life. colder plugs shouldnt be used unless u add force induction, adding lots of compression, or u r visually verify u need colder ones. a cold plug wont cool the engine and may lead to fouling your plugs. the intake manifold to look for would be with the aluminum cross over tube. not hating on your car, actually looks nice, but giving feed back on you mid list.

    Keith Alexander While I like your suggestions, I think taking a different approach to a 2v is a must since theses don't make any power lol. I would keep the intake stock. Trust me it's not really restrictive as much as you think, it's actually designed very well. If anything thing get rid of the paper filter and throw in an aftermarket filter. FBO are honestly a waste on a 2v. For people who aren't too savy on this generation mustang, you have to be more strategic with your mods. First things to do on a 2v is steeper gears for both manuel and automatic, and a good stall and shift kit for an auto. That'll definitely wake her up. Then suspension of course. Focus on unsprung weight, such as springs, sway bars, control arms and other suspension components as well as a good set of tires. Then for the exhaust, honestly chose a good brand of muffler of your chosing. What most people don't realize is that the factory exhaust is designed very well, including the exhaust manifolds. Even if American muscle.com says otherwise lol. But yeah my point being is to spend your money wisely when it comes to modding a new edge gt. Hope this really helps anybody

      You're absolutely correct my dude lol I, myself, have an '04 GT I recently just bought a couple months ago. It's my 3rd SN95 and 2nd New Edge of the bunch and I suggest to others the same exact as you: these 2v motors really don't respond well to bolt ons. My engine bay is damn near stock.. I have a set of 3.73 gears waiting to be installed and all I've done to the car thus far is suspension work( new lower control arms, struts/shocks) and want to add some subframe connectors, which these whips desperately need. All I've done to my exhaust is cut off the rear cats and want to add some aftermarket mufflers(as u mentioned). I've already watched soo many people drops thousands of dollars on bolt ons for these cars to gain no more than 30-35 rwhp lol when you can save up a few racks and slap a good blower on the stock motor and really have some fun with it... btw, you're also spot on with the automatic tranny advice.. A J-Mod is mandatory on these things for them to shift well, even more so than a shift point/firmness tune off a handheld. A tranny oil cooler is a good idea also,, especially if you're going the high stall TC route(also not a bad mod at all; I have an Auto btw).

      @keithalexander36  Před 7 lety +3

      I can agree with that. The stock tune is very weak. A buddy of mine has a 02 vert and he keep adding more and more bolt ons with stock tune and Nothing much to notice in gains.One of the problems with the stock tune is it is real friendly on the timing to allow the use of not just 87 octain but low quality 87 at that. Also the stock tune has a timing delay, this hurts performance anytime you have to reapply the throttle (like power shifting). The timing delay just makes the motor feel soggy. Thankfully just about every tune removes this and this is what people mostly feel when getting a tune even on a stock set-up

      I think your missing the whole point. I have a modified Gen 4 ZX10 that flirts with 200 plus mph and makes waste of any car but that's not the point. The point is every vehicle has its class and should be appreciated for that considering the cost and effort. At our local motocross track we don't race 125cc bikes in the 450 class but nothing is better then watching the 125s banging bars. As I stated in my other video the 2v new edge is the best bang for the buck. I have a nice clean car that runs 12s in the 1/4 with a total of $8500 cash invested. I bought this to keep the miles off my truck but decided on adding a few mods to give it some theater and it has been fun and I enjoy driving it. Speed is all about money, how much do you have invested in your z06 and then we can find something we can compare it too and please tell me your not a douchebag yuppie that pays someone to do all their own work and if that's the case the tuner/mechanic receives the credit not the owner IMO. I'd do 4.10s, 3.73 isn't much of a difference on the highway and not worth the money if you're doing it for performance. A good intake, exhaust and throttle body with tune will get you a solid 300 at the crank with 93 pump gas. These cars can crack 13 seconds if you got all that with good tires.

    I've watched serveral videos on dyno runs though not on a mustang but 2 on a crown vic and it showed no where near a 12hp loss. I looked at summit which sells dorman intakes all good reviews until one guy said he lost 32hp(32hp come on now ) compared to a Ford performance OEM intake. I do almost all my ordering from American Muscle now I haven't spoke to them about this issue but I don't buy used parts I buy top name top quality performance parts and I use LMR sometimes. The Ford PI intake is in like the 250-260 range new well there was aftermarket not plastic ones for a 150-200 dollars more but I want one that I can still run my 73mm bbk throttle body and plenum on. I'd love to get a trick plow but over $800 is a lil steep for me. Now I believe u when u said the runner design is nicer on the Ford PI intake but. Everybody has opinions on the dorman vs Ford PI that I believe are over exaggerated. A dyno run from a shop with a dorman vs PI would make me a total believer, but as of right now I've seen no dyno charts from the guy who says he lost 32hp and I don't beilieve u have a dyno chart showing the 12hp gain. Seems like it's a battle back and forth with no dyno results to prove it. If it does push out 12 more I'd buy it right now even though its plastic but u kinda got give me more concrete evidence to back your claims on offense

      Eric Swink after putting full boltons on my car, custom cams, bigger injectors, etc. My car only made 270rwhp and 280tq. After all that money spent on all those modifications and tuning, the car just felt like a complete turd. It felt seriously underpowered and I couldn't figure out why. I was really disappointed but I knew that car had more potential but something was definitely holding it back. After doing much research and trying to get to the bottom of all this. I ended up figuring out that my car had a Dorman and I had no idea. I was a little sceptical reading about different opinions about how restrictive the Dormans are and such. So I decided to try and test it for myself. I got a Ford PI unit took it to my tuner. He installed it, put it on the Dyno and it picked up 10rwhp on the installation alone. He did a retune with the new Ford manifold and it picked up an additional 10rwhp. That put my car at 290rwhp and 300tq. Picked up a solid 20rwhp and 20lbft torque. I test drove it and it was a complete different animal. Pulls like a runaway freight train now, I kid you not. Whoever is running a dorman on any mustang, my honest advice is to ditch it ASAP! Cause its costing you some serious hp and torque.

    • @keithalexander36
      @keithalexander36  Před 7 lety

      the stage 1 cam will yield more power across a broader range if your keeping the stock heads. one thing i learned along time ago is bigger is not always better, its more about properly matching components. Ever see that guy with the chevy small block lumping like crazy at an idle but soon as he hits the gas all it does is make alot of noise? thats what happens when you over select a camshaft. the stage 1 cam is already pretty stout for such a small motor. Camshafts do make more power but really your camshaft choice should by where you want your power to be made. in this case my motor runs come on around 4500rpm and i shift at 6500rpm. good example is going with a stage 3 would put the cam way out of the working range of the stock heads and will just make the motor run soggy as a whole. On stock builds the stage 1 has been a proven cam. check out my other vids of it running...its ok for what it is. make sure on the Windsor motor you order cam gears, bolts and spacers.

    The ONLY things you want to change in search of HP is the Intake, exhaust, cams, and intake manifold.. Changing the PLENUM is a waste of money if you aren't going to go the route of forced induction.. Gearing is nice if you're building a track dedicated car but not really needed for a street car.. Other than that you can free up about 10hp by changing all of your fluids to Royal Purple but that is rather pricey.. Then other than that adding a really good tune will help give some noticable power gains.. Other than that you really don't need to do much else except for maybe suspension work to help get it to stick to the track a little better and launch a lot better

    • @keithalexander36
      @keithalexander36  Před 3 lety +1

      The stock plenum will not get you past 280rwhp. You right on a relatively stock motor the stock plenum is ok but in order to crank out 312rwhp as i am (old video btw) you will need to toss the oem plenum. We have found out C&L gives the most consistent performance on a NA motor. I tried 3 plenums and the stock is like a restrctor plate on a full built NA motor.
