Reznor is such a true artist - as hard as it is to decide, I'd say he is the most influential artist in my life.
I agree, the first time I listened to NIN in the early 90's it completely blew up my music world instantly. It's like those films that start with a glimpse of the final scene. Pretty sure I will still listen to NIN at MY final scene... lol.
His journey, humbleness and honesty creates a transparency with us that is unrivaled. I totally agree with you my dude.

For anyone who wants to hear the "fresher" parts, you can skip to about 6:00. Until then, Trent basically talks about how he got to scoring The Social Network and all things related.
A treasure trove of information if you are a TR fan or looking to get into film scoring. It’s true, the score often is pulled back or out and in place trucks, birds, crickets, etc.....and the lack of score volume at times can be heartbreaking to the composer who works so hard. It’s all creative decisions and with purpose of serving the film mostly in control and discretion of the director and producers. Would love to see these two continue to score films.

Good interview. Don't take a question away from one when you've just asked the other though. Atticus had some great opportunities for response but it was overtaken by the interviewer cutting him off to ask Trent something else. They're both great. Otherwise, be plain and just ask for Trent to be there.

I rarely comment on this site but this just irked me so awfully: The comment made at around 23:55 about "....and usually the music is to the side and it SHOULDN'T get in the way.." etc. - I Immediately felt very embarrassed for both Trent & Atticus as well as Fincher and the entire cast and every other composer Soundtracking a film. What a horrible disrespectful comment and insult to make (especially to two very genius minds on that stage) ! It's okay if this woman doesn't understand the depth of these specific musician's lifetime of work and dedication; however clearly has no grasp on how the essence of a film (namely a Fincher/thriller/psych drama film) is firmly rooted in the music that carries it along. If the volume drowning out a pivotal scene is not clear that it's intentional and designed to purposefully make the viewer see and feel a certain way, this woman should have walked out of the theater considering it bothered her so much. Kudos to these two gentlemen for basically taking a public insult to their intense creative work and careers and not giving her ridiculous comments the time of day. An insult to musicians and creative minds as a whole, forget the whole hollywood aspect. In my humble opinion.
