That you had the patience to continue playing gracefully, respecting the instrument, even after realizing it was horrible amazes me!
The crazy part is not even trying to use a guitar pick after realizing hammer-ons are awful. Well, forget the rest of the world's guitar players who use a guitar pick, I'm just gonna do gross sounding hammer-ons with super difficult strings, instead of strumming them.
Fun fact this is what Paul McCartney did when the Beatles were playing in Hamburg. The guitar eventually broke under the weight and all of them took turns jumping on it and destroying it. Then Paul went out and bought a bass.
Did he buy a bass😭 Nice info now I’ve learned some history while answering all comments. 🙏

@@easygoing2479 yes,you are right!
@@easygoing2479 so, you need shower strings for higher pitches?
Isn’t string material also playing a factor
@@niekvanwensen from a physics point of view, it doesn't make a difference. In reality, it kinda does, because different materials can bear differemt tension. So the highest and lowest tone you can get out of a steel and nylon string of same diameter will not be the same.

Many years ago, I knew a lead guitar player who was really good and he wanted to play on my guitar for a change. Mind you, I was always more interesting in rhythm and tailored my guitar according to that. He was kinda devastated that he can't get a single solo straight because of my string tension and "regular" action instead of "stupidly low action." When I used his guitar instead, my limited lead playing felt like it it worked effortless like butter. From then on I appreciated the school of hard knox that I involuntarily put myself through. If you want to get more results playing, raise the action and increase string tension. When you get used to that, drop tension and action again for some suddenly impressive results :) That's why it pays to keep on doing it the hard way.
I came here after watching your video of the piano with guitar strings. It instantly peeked my curiosity about going the other way around. The piano with guitar strings sounded pretty neat up until the strings started to break. Thank you for your odd curiosity with your instruments. You are doing stuff most of us couldn't afford to do on our own. :D

I really love it when people do things like this! This is how new sounds and ideas are born.
I read somewhere a long time ago that Paul McCartney made a bass by putting piano strings in an old guitar during one of their Hamburg stints

Another fascinating experiment. It was an interesting difference between the two albeit not over the top like with the guitar strings in the piano.
This gives hammer down a whole new meaning with fret action like that
As a pianist, I can say that's roughly what I expected it to sound like: a muted guitar. From what I've gathered (and I could be wrong about this,) the piano strings are a bit thicker and thus a bit harder to control, yet at the end, you get a muted version of the guitar sound, thanks to the acoustic hole. As for the people commenting about how painful it was to watch, I personally didn't get that out of it. The piano he mutilated had seen better days, and served a good purpose here. Great vid dude!
Thank you! You are correct this is a very good description of how it realy was. And yes I feel like old pianos will be thrown away anyway because restoring and restringing them is to expensive and moving them is impossible
@@Mattiaskrantz Why can't old pianos be donated? Some people will want to restore them. Or like you, Mattias, experiment with them.
