  • Here’s a lap I did coaching a good friend at Chuckwalla Raceway out in Mojave Desert an hour East of Palm Springs, CA. Fun track, sweepers all ‘round, in a 991.2 GT3RS on Cup 2’s. Notice late throttle application. No stabbing (I do feel out the limit I a couple places, so not quite perfect, or maybe just a little tad loose entry) Use power for leaving a corner, not entering it. ESPECIALLY in powerful cars.

Always amazed to see how much a skilled driver manipulates the car with their feet even in such a performance related car as the GT3RS

From the GT500 vs GT3RS video with Cammisa. Great video. I’ve watched it many times and remember the commentary while you were driving-especially the “Sit! Down boy.”

I rarely see drivers get on the throttle that early. Watching this, I’m like “yes, thank you.”

Awesome video! I’m surprised that you’re not on the brakes/ downshifting sooner so you can accelerate all the way through the turns. That’s what I’ve done in games anyways. Someday I will take my Audi to a track when it’s ready because I really want to race something on a track. I really wanted to race my built XR150L up Pikes Peak but I heard that motorcycles are no longer able to go up? Are there companies that will give a driver a chance because it’s their dream? I just want someone to tell me if I have potential or not. I just love the dynamics and math of racing. To me it’s like a dance.🥰 😎👍

Just get out there and do your best! Earn the attention of sponsors and competitors. And get lucky, too. That’s what I did. Yeah, too many bike guys dying at Pikes Peak 😢

Tip for going fast and not crashing enter fast, slow down until you know you will make your apex and stay on track. Only then, add power for best exit speed. Most drivers apply power too soon. Do not accelerate until you are in position to start leaving the corner. Brakes are for entering, throttle is for leaving!

@@randypobstofficial I move the apex of the turn to where the 1 is and have my downshifting done before then. Is this wrong? It normally makes it so I take a different line making it so I can pass on the inside, after the turn, while others are in the outside. I stay as wide and strait as possible until I turn. I notice in games and on tv that most go for the inside as soon as possible, then get cluttered leaving the outside open for passing when no one is in the way.
I keep in the higher rpms as much as possible while understanding that loss of traction is slower. On high speed circle tracks I’m able to maintain a higher top speed by staying on the outside of a turn and then slightly moving to the middle at the apex not letting off. Sometimes if I have to slow down I can do so by just downshifting right at the apex and then upshifting again shortly after. Maybe this is just in games though?🤷🏻‍♂️
Thank you for your response and I highly respect your opinion!!

There was tons of room for improvement with more time behind the wheel. This car has AMAZING aero downforce; much more than most racers are used to for this class of car. You drove quite conservatively --> Above 82 MPH these things really shine in the corners IF you swallow your fear and just allow the aero to do the work.
