How to play Gagging Order by Thom Yorke of Radiohead accurately. Enjoy!
Tuning: CGCGBD (Capo 3)
Sorry about the blips... my Macbook was doing too much stuff at once.
Edit: Apparently it's from "Com Lag" (Hail to the Thief B-Sides). - Hudba
You know you’re a true fan when you look up tutorials for Com Lag songs
My personal fav radiohead song :)
Here after 12 years, just became a Radiohead fan and now I had to learn their songs.

Every time someone discovers Radiohead the world becomes a better place ❤️
I was 3 when this video was made, started listening to them about a year ago. favorite band
Glad you’re among us Radiohead fans
I can’t even tell you how grateful I am to find this 15 year old tutorial today. I fucking love this song. And now I get to play it!
Awesome!! I'm here for private lessons too if you'd like to go deeper. You can read more about me philosophy on my website.
the sound wasn't loud enough where i was standing and the sound cut out twice :(
but i was still honored to see the best band in the world. the light show was unbelievable.
Warren, your videos are still relevant..... I watched them in 2008 and am glad to revisit them again.
I couldn't find the beat so i thought Warren must know. Thank you
I didn't know where the beat was for "The Clock"... but hey I'm glad it worked out this time!
You taught me this 12 years ago. Thanks man
Glad to hear it!
Warren never ceases to amaze me with how good his tutorials are
Thanks for the video bro. Learned from ya years ago, forgot, and now back for a refresher. Song is hitting home right now. Hope you’re well friend and thanks again.
Thanks for making a video on this. Such an underrated gem
as I’ve picked up my guitar again during this pandemic, lots more time on my hands, you’ve been a great boon. Love your stuff. first found you from a Chieftan Mews playlist actually, you’re awesome!

Hey Warren, thanks for the spot-on transcription/lesson. Can't wait to try it out!
I just saw Radiohead recently for the third time... still the best live band I've ever seen.
Peace, and keep up the good work.
I LOVE you!!! You are such a great teacher. You helped me with the strumming on Give Up The Ghost, now I'm gonna try this one lol. THANK YOU!! You rock.
The tuning was right on... thanks. The tuning gave me the momentum to figure it out.
I did it similar but your tutorial definitely improved my performance of this sweet and beautiful song. Thanks a lot!
Thanx Warren ... always great tutorials of my favourite band ...
Beautiful, man! thanks a lot!
This is superb. Thank you!
Dude, that was some rad guitar! Loyal to the song.

wow fantastic work dude, spot on and sounds wonderful. thanks a bunch! going to see radiohead next week in osaka, can't wait!
Just wanted to give you a huge thumbs up on this one: no one I've seen has been able to get those pull-offs right except for Thom or Johnny, and you do an EXCELLENT job. Thanks for the tutorial, I'm sure in about a year I might manage the first part ;).
Love your tutorials, keep 'em coming!!!!
Oh and P.S. you can find Gagging Order in a couple of different places: It's on the "Go To Sleep" single from HTTF, its on the second CD of HTTF Deluxe Edition, and it's also on "Com Lag."
This is great! Thank you, sir. Should’ve known it would be you to save me for a Radiohead tune 👍🏼🙌🏼
warren tutor is always super awesome

Warren is the best. I have gone through so much of his youtube video and I'm just totally amazed by it all. I'm going to pick up an acoustic guitar soon and you betcha I'm going to go straight to Warren for a lesson.

Hi Warren! Thank you so much for this post/tutorial! It's really going to help me a lot, as I've been wanting to get better at playing this song... I've been watching the WARRENMUSIC Series as well, and thank you for that too! You are just an amazing Musician and person! All the Best! :)
Thanks for the kind words!
wow great video, very informative and laid back.
actual legend dude
thanks mate, excellent explanation. Very clear. Ive seen an awful lot of tabs for this tune that are far harder to play as people try to keep it in standard tuning.
very nicely done!!
"i still wanna do radiohead because yknow......radiohead makes me look good" good tutorial and good humor 😂
thanks warren.
Also, thanks so much for this. You're quite talented!
Warren is a Legend!
does anyone know whether or not if this is the actual way that Thomas Cork plays it? I appreciate all of warrens vids but I am not certain this is the exact way that Tony Fork plays it.
jarred le gregsnaldjbf Tim Spork definitely does play it this way.
*Thom Yorke
WARRENMUSIC 😂 I’m not sure many people get it but that made me laugh 😂
Thumb Pork??
Raynier Reynoso woosh
I love you 🙏🏽 thank you. x
Thanks allot Warren! I was just about to teach myself and i found your video and it made it go way faster! I have the fingering down but the strumming in this song is a killer, it will take me a few days haha.
THANKS AGAIN!
Thank you for this
Glad you enjoyed it!
bro keep it up with the radiohead
this is helpful
DUDE. Your videos are super dope.
+Nico Sy thanks!!
music herself thanks you Warren.
your the truth brother
i'm going to the SF outside lands festival... should be awesome! my first radiohead show...
really helpfull ty so much warren ;)
Yes, I figure all of these out by ear. The tuning is tricky but I eventually figure it out because no other tuning really makes sense with all of the constraints I end up discovering through ear-training and music theory.
Man, these tutorials are so helpful! I hope you realize they are much appreciated! I wish you would explain the right hand a little more though!
pure class!!!
thanks for this
here after 13 years, just discovered radiohead some months ago and I listened to all of their discoghraphy, I'm going to learn some songs from them
Awesome!
Very nice.
your voice entonation remember me of jimi hendrix's voice very nice ;)
hey great cover btw this is definitely in my top 5 radiohead songs i was just wondering after 15 years if you could break down the finger picking a bit more haha
You Are Epic. Your the best.
thank you.
warren - thank you so much for this and for everything. You are an inspiration - anyway - hey I had a vision while I was learning this one - check out Joni Mitchell's "Sweet Bird" from the album "Hissing of Summer Lawns"...wonderful..anyway this tuning and this song kind of took me to Joni land if you know what I mean - thank you so much for what you do. My drummer lantz and I love you! We probably spend 2-3 hours with you per week and really appreciate all you do! - john
great aportation¡
un abrazo desde mexico¡
10 years ago you did this song/tutorial and Yours is the one I always come back to... You have so much talent Warren! Thank you for all that you do!
*I thought I might have seen something in regards to you possibly doing lessons via Skype??? That is really cool! Are you full, or taking on new students... All the best Warren! :D
Yes I still take lessons! I've been teaching privately over Skype for nine years now and still going strong. Email me!
Thanks again!!! where you been
it was tough, but yeah, i enjoyed figuring this one out
hey man, thanks for this. If anyone follows the tuning, they can basically figure it out from there. I'm amazed at how easy this song is to me now, I've been playing it transposed in E (ask me how...)
Didn't you wrote a tab for this song dude? Because it's amazing to play, and to hear. Thanks to you, sharing talent.
Songs like these are why I will probably never be able to play guitar by ear. The can of worms opened up with not only alternate tunings but the use of a capo make it very unlikely that I'll ever be able to figure out whether both or either is being used w/o the help of tutorials like this (although the cam is too high). So huge thanks for the help Warren.
You're right that alternate tunings and capos add obstacles to figuring things out by ear but a lot of that you might be surprised gets easier with experience. There are only so many ways to tune the guitar that make sense. With the Internet we rarely start from scratch. And once tuned, there are only so many shapes your hand can make. Open strings sound different from fretted notes and are used differently in fingerpicking. And there are only so many places you can play one note. I try to keep an open mind knowing it will be impossible to solve the whole thing all at once, but that it may be possible to get one little piece of the puzzle at a time.
Come find me on Skype if you want to take some private lessons specifically about figuring out alternate tunings.
Either way, thanks for sharing, and happy learning!
@@warrenmusic Thanks so much Warren! Those were some awesome tips! I've literally been following you for over a decade while playing off and on so it was great hearing from you!
You were actually one of if not my top choice to take lessons from to help me figure out certain songs.
But another thing I dreamed about doing is working with you specifically to help me come up with some good guitar accompaniment to play over DJ sets in a live setting.
It's an element I've been wanting to incorporate into djing for a while; using bright electric and acoustic guitar to create sounds similar to Coldplay's "Sky Full of Stars" for instance.
I'm not a natural-born musician, don't come from a musical family (bad/no musical genes or tutelage), and started guitar late, on top of not being dedicated to it as much as I should be. So I need all the help I can get.
Hopefully, you'd be open to something like that a bit (or a lot) later when I'm able to.
Thanks again for all Warren. And keep up the awesome work!
p.s. - I saw some YT vids on something called the 'Midi Pro 2' electric guitar that can emulate many different instruments and effects in an incredible way.
I've never seen anything like this guitar. So it would be sick if you could review it.
And I have no affiliation with it so not spamming. Just would be interested to see an expert's take on it before purchasing.
Huge thanks if you can. But even if not, a huge thanks for everything else you do.
@@boomieboo Thank you, it's nice to be thought of.
The most important things you need to bring to private lessons are dedication and curiosity. Talent or wishful thinking is nice, but to get anywhere with something there is really no substitute for putting in the hours! I'm open to teaching you if you are, whenever you are ready.
If guitar is your most comfortable instrument I could see the Midi Pro 2 making sense. I myself am more comfortable working on a keyboard style MIDI controller.
you're great!
HI!! Thanks for yout tutorials, are very interesting... i´ve learn a lot.... overall about my favorite band.... RADIOHEAD!! :)
this is history
woo muy cool
@warrenmusic You, sir, are a genius.
Hey Warren when I searched Gagging Order Tutorial there was another video just a bit down by Loved Guitar that literally just reuploaded this video
Please report it for me. Thanks for letting me know.
@ChablesMan I figure everything out by ear, and when available, I check out videos of live performances. Watching the fingers and relying on my ear-training and grasp of music theory help make the tuning more of a logic puzzle than a guess.
your a god Warren..
Awesome video and great tutorial!! You really hit the mark in this one…Thanks 🙏🏽
Can you explain the strumming technique and pattern a little more. I’m fairly new to finger style and am finding it hard to understand/pluck individual strings (with the index, I’m assuming? If that’s indeed what’s going on?) while strumming with thumb.
I’d greatly appreciate it!!
Generally with this song when there is strumming the index finger follows the melodic bits and the thumb follows the bassier strings. It's not a scientific tutorial because of that, it's more loose.
@@warrenmusic Thanks for your quick reply!! Much appreciated. To clarify, is the thumb consistently downstrumming eighth notes over the basses, while the index is upstrumming the melodic notes when needed and not aiming for single strings?
*And by “up” and “down, I’m talking directionally in relation to the floor and “not” from a musical tonality standpoint!
Warren! Can you do a quick follow up on the strumming? I am having trouble with how you are doing the finger pickings! Thanks! :)
(quick find) tuning - drop-c, except the g & b are in open-A (left standard.) capo at 3 - d# a# d# a# d f
Joni Mitchell is incredible. Thanks for hanging out with me weekly! That's commitment.
If you want to find this song it's a B-Side off of Com Lag 2+2=5.
Nice job!
warren, your radiohead tutorial are the best :)
but it's seem to be more difficult to play for me...
jaja! Thx dude it was a cool video, you aren`t shy any more , cool... thx very much (best part: have fun with that) the end.... jaja
Nice job man. This is on my to do list. How in the world do you figure out that it takes an alternate tuning with a capo on the 3rd fret? I'm jealous of your ears.
@reusablecatmilk I just put it in the video description. And you can match it by ear to the video before you capo it at 1:24. If you are having trouble with that, get a chromatic tuner or a friend who can tune by ear. Other than that, sorry can't help you!
