Thanks for the review guys👍🏻👍🏻my favorite jazz reissue of the year.
Our pleasure!
I think the opener is amazing. It draws you in from the first notes. The electric keys and burning and contemplative notes of Mr. Henderson. 9/10 easy.
Luving this album. I assume Jazz dispensary release this because of Henderson having a smoke; back cover.
Also Mike Lawrence deserves more recognition as a trumpeter, he’s amazing in this record.
This album is incredible. I can’t speak to the sound of the reissue but my OG is awesome. Black Narcissus and Opus 1.5 are in the style of some of my favorite JoeH compositions. The ambience and slow moving rhythm allows him to “play” however he feels in the moment and it keeps you captivated. Afro Centric and Power to the People hold down the energy and concept for the session. I love Isotope reimagined here and Lazy Afternoon. Foresight and Afterthought is an interesting finish but is the least enjoyable track for me.
Haha. I'm all about Side 1!
There is a photo of Mike Lawrence on the back of The Kicker. Dude looks like Jim from The Office lol Appears completely out of place and did not play on a whole lot of albums but man did he slay fools.
I think the price point is due to the jacket quality
It is a very nice jacket though, basically the same thing as the Tone Poets. - Chris
@@JazzBums good to know. I haven’t received mine yet but that used to be why they were cheaper. Maybe now there isn’t much of a reason
Sans the gloss
I think this new ROTW series is gonna be great!
Awesome, glad you are enjoying it! - Chris
