Wow! Really looking forward to this new Bethlehem series. Many treasures in those vaults. Thank you for this excellent review. One small correction, if you permit: I read somewhere -- I think it was in the Priestley critical biography -- that Charles Mingus hated being called "Charlie". I can understand how he saw a diminutive name robbing him of some dignity.
Few hick-ups at the start but if they do things well and concentrate on quality output they should be the one to go to for jazz audiophiles. I agree about a paper sleeve, hope that was just an early production stage oversight. Not sure about GZ pressing plant which focuses on high-volume output and wholesale primarily, I have had hit and miss with their vinyl of late more than any other Euro pressing house including Optimal. Fingers crossed this goes well, in the interest of both BMG and us as consumers.
Same thoughts here. Let's hope they succeed and don't stuff it up by the "good enough" approach when it comes to selection of preferred pressing plant. On the other hand, these are being offered at US$29, which is around a standard Music On Vinyl/Optimal combo price these days. Fingers crossed!
Great video and thanks for the history. A lot I did not know. I was reluctant on this as I have the 2022 reissue and it is quite good. However I trusted Felipe as he made a compelling case for this version. I received it today and just finished side 2. I listened to the 2022 version and this new one had much more depth and clarity. Far superior to the 2022. Strangely enough the 2022 had an ice sleeve. Not like the paper in the new one. Thanks
Thank you for letting us know! I’ve been looking forward to the analogue releases from Bethlehem as I had avoided the digital ones. Great news, I’ll listen to the series. Excellent review and information!
I believe that although there are many reissue series going on, and people might feel overwhelmed, we’re no longer in 2020. No need to rush. People can take their time, choose carefully and actually enjoy their favorite titles.
Very exciting to have the Bethlehem catalog reissued AAA with Bernie Grundman remastering! Can’t wait to see titles to follow. I have quite a few titles already - mix of US OG and Japanese reissues.
Not much yet. The Mal Waldron title had been announced previously with the Mingus. Due to production delay, it will be available later this year, but it is confirmed. Thanks for watching! F

True, I see a good effort at the start, the series has everything to keep at a high level, I have great hopes. Thanks for watching! F
