I met Jani once. He was a genuinely nice guy. He treated me like i was a longtime friend and not for a second did he act like he was famous. Honestly miss him, great musician
Ive heard he was a nice bloke and different to his contemporaries in that respect.
Such a sad loss. I loved Warrant.
Me too. Nice guy! ❤
The best type of people! Often people forget they are human too.
It goes to show you even famous people have problem's very sad bc everything I have ever read or watched about Jani everyone said he was a stand up guy. I hope I get to see you on the other side Jani.

Jani hated that song. Should have tried to sing Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Would have actually been fire as opposed to ignorant

Hi, I’m the one who left the little purple sticky note for Jani! 💜
I’m a published author/poet and wanted to give him something a little more meaningful than flowers, so I picked the main line of a poem I wrote called “Voltage.” Thank you so much for reading it; it was awesome and touching to see my little sentiment still with him! It’s been there for a little over a month.
Jani is definitely “a current whose voltage knows no end,” forever living on in music and the fans that keep it spinning. Relax in paradise Jani and Kim. 🩷🕊️
That is such an amazing sentiment.
Very sweet...
He definitely was taken too early..
I dated, and am still close friends with someone that filled in for him after he passed. He was just a really good hearted, humble man. He left way too soon.
I heard Jani kept in his pocket a note. “ I am Jani Lane “.
This was how bad his alcoholism was. A hotel room. Sigh.
Partied with them in Rocklahoma in 2000.
@@guns4hire74.... Rocklahoma!!! Hell yeah!!! Been some good ones come through ❤. Has changed a lot since it first started!
Love me some Jani Lane. Sorry for his pain that made him think he wasn't loved. His baby girl had to grow up without him.
Scott on tape did a video on him were he died some hotel location but not his grave all i no
@@hotnerd8428 yes he tried to call ex band mates ex wife and nobody wanted to talk to him so he just checked out. They didn't say to much because Maddie was still to young to know all that. She is grown now. She did a cover of a couple of his songs.
@@hotnerd8428 When Scott did his video Jani didn’t have a grave to visit. He was cremated and his ashes were with his wife and daughter at that time. When this video showed up that Lamont had found a grave for Jani, I was so happy to know there was now somewhere to go to pay respects.
I didn’t realize his wife had sadly passed in 2020 which is just gut wrenching. May Kimberley Nash rest in peace🕊️My condolences go out to his daughters Taylar Jayne Lane & Madison Michelle Lane🙏🏻 Taylar Jayne Lane’s mother is Bobbie Jean Brown and Madison Michelle Lane’s mother is Rowanne Brewer. Just wanted to clarify that my condolences to Jani’s daughters is for their loss of their dad. Jani’s 3rd wife Kimberly Nash had no children with Jani.
Lamont, Jani was dropped off at that hotel by someone who left him without a wallet or I.D except for a piece of paper in his pocket that said his name. Whomever dropped him off there, knew he had a problem with alcohol. It was an awful way for such a nice man like Jani to have gone. All alone in a hotel room deep in his alcoholism. I met Jani way back in the early 90’s in Toronto before a show and let me say what a nice, kind humble man he was. He deserved better than this😢
Yes. Tragic!!😭😭😭
True yes he did, but think if you are a bartender closing down for the night. The guy refuses to get in the taxi, refuses an ambulance. Has no money or anything in his pockets. I have known people at the end of alcoholism and stayed awake , while the slept off a drunk so they wouldn’t die in their sleep. Because after so many times the ambulance is not too keen on taking a drunk fighting guy who refuses treatment.
The person who left him could have called the police for a welfare check , maybe it would have been easier to get him to the hospital if the popo couldn’t wake him. I am sorry he couldn’t be helped ,but he had it very bad for a long time. Yes, I am very sorry for his daughter & the world ,they lost a good man, too soon.
@@blazefairchild465it's very tragic. But eventually it would be cirrhosis of the liver. If it wasn't already getting to that point already.
RIP Jani ❤
@@ChasingRainbows67 true alcohol damages so much a friend of mine passed away from mouth & throat cancer his mom had kidney cancer, they were both told it was from alcoholism. Sad stuff.
@@blazefairchild465 From what I understand he was dropped off there as in to not have to deal with him. I have spoken to his first wife Bobbie Jean Brown and she has said that whomever did this to him did him a disservice and knows what they did was wrong. No, I.D, no money, no wallet just a piece of paper in his pocket that said his name. No one did a welfare check on him sadly. The staff had housecleaning go around as they do and when the cleaning lady entered she saw a body back facing the door where she entered. She went down to the desk and told them. They asked the cleaning lady to check on the person, check if they were breathing. Sadly, the person declined. So, when I say a horrible end, it makes me sad to even remember the details. At the end of Bobbie Jean Brown’s book, she discusses the incident with Jani and the hotel. She and his family wanted to find out who left him there is such a condition knowing he needed help.
Sorry for the novel. I hope this answers some questions 🙂
Did you know he hated that song. He only wrote it to make the record company happy.
Jani was allegedly a victim of grape, and that was likely a driver of his depression and alcoholism.
He claimed a major rock singer was the guilty party. Some say it was either Paul Stanley or Rob Halford.

Jani Lane hated that song and didn't even want to sing it. He was afraid that he would forever be known as the cherry pie guy. Perfect song for his forever resting place.
Acrually thats "Heaven" your thinking about. Jani thought it would make Warrant a sellout "Pu*** catcher" band (his words) He actually liked Cherry Pie until after he married Bobbi. He actually told me "She was a seriously crazy b**ch" and whenever he sang Cherry Pie it reminded him of "not so good times" with her
That's actually not true. That myth comes from the quote he did on behind the music. He was actually really drunk, and his mother had just died. He came in for an interview and was completely broken. Years later he came out and said that he actually loves the song, it made him a lot of money, he loves playing it, and regrets telling ppl he hated the song.
@@metpach Actually I heard Jani say those words...5 feet from me over a friends house that was good friends with him. That friend was Jim Pagel and he was in a band called "Gunslinger" that actually did some touring of the clubs in Cali with Warrant. Gunslinger opened for Warrant. Jani and Jim stayed in touch for a while and that is how I met Jani. So sorry man, I am going to go with what Jani told us in person
@@anthonylong5870 He literally told Eddie Trunk on that Metal show that he doesn't hate the song. You can probably find that clip. Regardless, he likes Cherry Pie. It made him a lot of money and it's still a banger.
@@metpach I dont know what he told Eddie trunk on a tv interview all I can say is what he said when we were all sitting around my buddies house listening to music and just shooting the s**t, We were there for a couple hours before he had to go.
Lamont opening the video and belting out “Cherry Pie” in a graveyard just made my day 😂

Jani hated that song
@@SugarBear-xq3xc
I can totally understand why, it’s simply cringe, imo. 🥧😖
It's so sad that Jani had to die alone in a hotel room. A note (not written by him) that read "I am Jani Lane." was found on his body. I had no idea his wife died.
Who wrote the note? Could've swore Lamont already did a video outside of the hotel where Jani died? Maybe it was another CZcamsr.
@@vicvega3614 I think that was Scott On Tape.
@@vicvega3614Scott on tape did a video outside the hotel where he died. I watched that one also.
@@vicvega3614 - To this day, no one knows or atleast said publicly who the person is. Presumably it’s whoever was with him last. They might be afraid they’d be held responsible in some way for Jani’s death. Therefore they have not come forward with admitting they wrote the note
@@MelicaEighty8 WOW that's really messed up. you would think if there was a note on him that said that and he didn't write it, that they would be an investigation. That sounds like something that was foul play or something very strange. Why was his death and that note not further investigated. so people say that he died alone in hotel room yet it seems like there were someone else there. obviously, if the note was written by someone else,!! Like.... What???
Thank you Lamont. I had a friend and co-worker that passed away on 12/17/2011. 4 months after Jani passed. His name was Alan and he love Warrant's songs. Thank you.

@@GoGirl311 In your opinion.🤨🤘
Heaven was one of the more beautiful songs I ever heard I still love it Jani Lane was very talented I still listen to their music Rest in Peace Jani Lane
It really was the great love ballad during those days, and a great song.
Jani was married to Bobbie Brown and they had a daughter. Jani got married a second time and they had a daughter. Both marriages only lasted a few years. I saw Warrant with Jani Lane around 30 years ago at a night club that doesn't exist anymore. Went in before the show and talked to Jani and he was a very nice and down to earth human being. He talked to you as a person and not as a musician or a rock star. He didn't have the "I'm a musician. I'm better than you" attitude. And, after the concert, myself and a few other people hung out with him until 4 in the morning. Then I saw Warrant in 2023 with the new lead singer they have had for a long time and they still do "Cherry Pie" "Heaven", etc.
I worked a job in the mid 90s, my boss said I grew up with Jani Lane, i was like yea whatever man, well they had a concert in town, my boss ask would I like to go with him. Well guess what, we got back stage I got to meet him, I was blown away. Was really a nice guy him and my boss Eric caught up on old times. It was so interesting just how normal he was.
@@Turbogn87 He was a normal guy and a super nice guy. When I met him, there were two songs Warrant put out that was done acoustic and I asked him about that and I remember him telling me one was the record company’s idea and one was his idea. I will always cherish the time I spent with him.
Addiction is insidious. So sad.🙏🏼
Warrant came to Mcguire AFB, NJ during Desert Storm and played for us in one of the hangars.
It was excellent
Apparently he knew a secret down at Uncle Tom's Cabin. He knew who put the bodies in the wishing well.
🤦♂️
Omg 😂😂😂

Warrant had three albums with Jani Lane after Dog Eat Dog. They released Ultraphobic in 1995, Belly to Belly in 1996, and Under the Influence in 2001. Three very underrated albums. I recommend any Warrant fan who hasn't heard of these albums to put them on your playlist.
This is great i don't think anyone has done him, RIP Jani ❤
Hi
Very true. It was always stated that he was cremated and his ashes were with his family, I assume his wife and daughter. I am thrilled to know he has a place to pay respects to now. I am heartbroken to know his wife has now passed. Such a tragic story for both
I saw Warrant live, they opened up for Poison. That was an amazing concert.
had always heard that jani was cremated and all that was put out was a bench dedicated to the "song and dance" man. its nice to see there is a grave for his family and friends to remember him.
Maybe it is possible that he was still cremated but still has a grave. My nephew does. Maybe they didn’t have a head stone yet or even a grave site so they maybe had that bench until then. Just a thought. But maybe it was mixed up with someone else too, or made up. Never know I guess.
Didn't he sing Heaven Isn't Too Far Away? Great song.

Another weird story about Jani is he said he was sexually assaulted by the lead singer of a heavy metal band in the 80s when Warrant was first on the scene. His ex-wife, Bobby Brown, has corroborated but never dropped the name.
It was Rob Halford
@MarceloRomero360 don't say that just because Halford is homosexual. I think it's Paul Stanley. But what do I know
Surprised he was buried in TX when he was a native of Cincinnati OH.
EXACTLY THATS NOT HIS GRAVE

Someone said they think he was cremated.
He was and thats where his wife had his ashes placed. @@YaYaPaBla
He went to Field High School which is in the Akron area.
I don't remember ever hearing anything about his passing or his history besides being the lead singer. I battled alcohol forever from my late teens, through my mid 40s. It's some rough stuff and sometimes I wonder how I'm still here. Peace, Lemont
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Warrant's second album was originally called "Uncle Tom's Cabin". However Columbia Records, Warrant's label, listened to the whole album and did not hear a potential hit single. So they told the band they needed something like Aerosmith's "Love In An Elevator" so the band, in one night, wrote and recorded "Cherry Pie". Next thing Cherry Pie the album came out as well as the single. Another story Jani mentioned was they visited Columbia Records and there was a poster behind the secretary of the Cherry Pie album cover. Next time Warrant released Dog Eat Dog and the secretary had Alice In Chains "Dirt". And everything changed.
Lamont, is there any way you could do a story on Layne Staley from Alice in chains I would love it so much I was such a fan of him and the band😢
It's amazing the amount of talent that came out of Ohio. Musicians, Actors, even serial killers.....
Yep. We got it all.
I watched him on Celebrity Fit Club on VH1. We got to see his struggles with alcohol. Very Sad!
I watched Janni lane on celebrity fit club, he looked depressed as can be, said he was sick of that pie song, and that was his legacy
He was funny

“Got a picture of your house..you’re standing by the door.. it’s black and white and faded…”
Dog Eat Dog is so under-appreciated.
Saw Warrant live in the 90’s they opened for Motley Crue🤘🎸
Our fellow buckeye is very much missed. I contacted a mutual friend of ours - won't say his name for personal protection but Jani used to set up their instruments and do sound check where they used to perform in Akron. He was so heartbroken. Said he was such a nice young man

Thanks for the respectful and informative video, Lamont. I'm intrigued to learn more about Mr. Lane's life since he seemed like a nice person. May he rest in peace.
Wow. That really was fascinating. Had no idea his wife died. So sad so young and so talented. Their graves are so nondescript.
He died in a motel right across the street from my high school in woodland hills California
Yep. I love the Crue. I went to their final tour. When Jani passed, my older sister called me crying. I cried, as well.
I've been hurt, I've been blind, I'm not sure that I'll be fine, I never thought it would end this way!🎶
'I Saw Red'.... Fabulous tune.
I started to enjoy Mindy McCready and now Jani Lane, thank you bro!!!
What a very very sad grave
Doubly sad that he had a tough life that he didn’t get past, and she had such a tragic end…
Uncle Tom’s cabin was always my favorite by them.
YES! Another Great Song!!👍😎😃💕💕💕💕
A deeper version of his death was someone was with him in that hotel room. They wrote a note stating "I am Jani Layne" they left him there and he passed away. I'm not sure they ever figured it out. What an awful way to pass away. Anyway as always another great video Lamont. RIP 🙏
Never was a fan of 80s hair metal, but my appreciation changed after he passed and I watched a few videos about his life. Sucks that alcohol and drugs can take people at an early age.
Warrant - Sweet cherry pie, thanks Lamont.
Im 57 and never a fan of Warrant but very sad if what they say is true, which im inclined to believe,i hope there is justice for Jani.
Referring to the S/A he said occurred when crossing paths with a very famous rock band. Their Manager was present and he only managed 2 bands at the time. J.Priest & Kiss. (Who Knows, not sure why it's being protected)
@@GS-zc4sk I knew this. And I believed Jani. But with any high profile person, they are protected. Disgusting.
The 80s hair band were the best I wish I was there but I was a little too young, I remember they never call it hair bands, they were calling it all heavy metal back then
Very true the "hair band" moniker came about much later. Even the term "Heavy Metal" was shortened to just "Metal" by about 1985.
Gogo heavy metal is my thing!!! I'm a rocker then and now😊

I will always credit Warrant with getting my foot in the door of radio. In 1989 a local radio station was playing the wrong Warrant song in their weekly countdown. Instead of "Heaven" they were playing the B side of "Down Boys". I brought them the 45 rpm of "Heaven". They were so grateful. Eventually I got a job there as a DJ. 30-plus years and 3 radio stations later, I'll never forget that song and that band. I had no idea Jani's wife died tragically. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for this video. Huge love for this band. What a great voice.
