- Here we take another look at a classic Winchester that time seems to have almost forgotten about. Wind the clock back almost 40 years and this model was one of the most popular sporting shotguns. One of the only model Winchesters to only ever be offered only in sporting specification.
This particular 5500 is a bit different. Having searched for a number of years to find one in a condition he was happy with. Matthew explains why he has a soft spot for this 30" multichoke sporter. - Sport
Great video -My first gun was a Winchester 5000 Field - 28" multi-choke which my daughter shoots - great handling gun especially with 21/24gm loads
Thank you for your comment and kind words. I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. Brilliant brilliant guns with very little felt recoil so sounds ideal. I am sure she will create many memories shooting that family heirloom. Kind regards, Matthew
The Sunday evening gun reviews from Eastfield Gunroom is now the highlight of my Sunday
Me too, I look forward to it all week.
Thank you for your comment and kind words. Kind regards, Matthew
Ha
ve you ever reviewed the Winchester model 21 and the 23 model, the 23 is so overlooked as the winchester o/u. Great review as always.
Thank you for your comment. I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. I am a huge fan of the Winchester side by sides and they will certainly be making an appearance on the channel soon. Kind regards, Matthew
Another great review Matt.
Great review as usual Matt. Its a lovely example, and quite the find. Enjoy it!
Thank you for your comment and kind words. I am very lucky to have found this one, I just need more time to go shooting 😂. Kind regards, Matthew
THANKS for sharing that beautiful gun!!
Great video. I just picked up a 28" in excellent shape here in the US. Seems like these are much rarer in the States than across the pond. Beautiful gun.
Thank you for your comment, I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. I am not sure that you got too many of the 5500/6500 series in the US. Kind regards, Matthew
The 101 line was the best of a great bunch of the era, fit/finish, handling, levels above many so called top tier guns, i'd love to sporterise an 8500
Thank you for your comment. Personally I do not believe that the quality and feel that these guns offered will ever be matched for anything like sensible money. Kind regards, Matthew
@@eastfieldgunroom 100% agree Matt, beautiful guns and very sweet to shoot
Great gun, i had one also. One of the best handling shotguns I've had. Regret selling it but needs must.
Thank you for your comment, one of the great the 5500. Can now be picked up for very little money. Kind regards, Matthew
well Matt this will be one of the few reviews where at the end I don't jump straight onto your web site to see if it is for sale 😂😂, the shooting grounds near me are still using a Winchester 101 so still going strong
Thank you for your comment. These are great great great shotguns. Kind regards, Matthew
Great video can you review the beretta 687 silver pigeon 3 sporting model?
Thank you for your comment and kind words. The Beretta SP3 Sporter is a gun that I will be reviewing. Kind regards, Matthew
I have the same one. Can I use browning invector chokes for it they seem to fit
Yes, same pattern as the Winchokes, just can't use the Invector PLUS.
Looks like a Browning to me.
Why did he leave Premier guns!🤔
Thank you for your comment. Everybody essentially copied Brownings. Kind regards, Matthew
What a stroke of luck that you've got the original buttplate; because I know you are a big fan of that work of art!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for your comment. Absolutely correct, I should really just throw it in the bin 😂. KInd regards, Matthew
