The fact that Winona Ryder was not nominated for EMMYS for her role in Stranger Things is a disgrace in the history of Emmy Awards.
I read it's because the show started too late but will be eligible next year. I was a little concerned about that too.

And honestly, I’m of the opinion that anything that has to do with people is political. The root of the word “political” comes from the Greek word, polis, which refers to a body of citizens.
The other answer is that maybe Winona doesn’t see her statement as being political at all. Maybe she’s just responding as a highly empathetic person to something tragic that’s been on her mind. I don’t find it rude when people talk about something that’s clearly touched them deeply and they care about a lot. You have every right to find it rude if you want, no judgment here. For being honest, I just started watching the serie for Winona. Her work is awesome, and she's totally a great, powerful and pure human being. I love her character, my favorite. She deserves more attention, she literally carries the first season.
