You fell right into the trap, Riff. haha I will agree though, I don't think Caleb is a bad guy and I really admire him for doing what he does and Caleb has really had to put himself out there and take many, many chances to get where he has got to in his career as a re-seller. In some ways, I can certainly relate to Caleb because I am a re-seller too, but I am no where near the levels of success this man has reached so I can certainly admire Caleb for the work he has put in as a re-seller. It's not as easy as some people think and it can be very emotionally taxing, if that makes any sense.

At the end of the day scavengers are actually a necessary part of most ecosystems. People think when it comes to hunting using the whole animal is the most ethical way to use the kill and there’s nothing wrong with being efficient when you don’t have a lot of resources but it’s actually better for nature to give Mother Nature her cut of the hunt.
For me i think peoples opinion changed after you sold the GameCube collection… I think everyone felt hoodwinked in a sense as you portrayed it originally as the collection of your dreams… people really bought into the journey and to sell it straight away felt a bit strange…
I was introduced to Phoenix thru the Gamecube series, and I too got really invested into this idea that seemed so strange to me at the time, buying games to create a budget to buy for your collection. As the collection got closer to being complete the more exciting it got to see everything that had to come together to get the last few missing games. And then he sold the collection, and I remember being so surprised like a lot of people because I didn’t expect it. After some time though, it made sense. The point of the series was to finish a collection, and that was what got me to watch. The collection itself contained a lot of nostalgia sure, but ultimately I was watching to see where he would find the games, how much stuff he could find to build his budget, seeing if there was going to be a game that he would have to pass up because of lack of budget. The familiarity of it being Gamecube, games that I grew up with, helped make that connection for me. And now as someone as who collects too, there are only certain collections that I can keep. There’s always something that pops up that I want to go after, and sometimes it means letting go of other collections. Plus, the guy’s a content creator, you have to create content somehow and especially considering that was his first big series that I recall, that was a lot of money that was just going to sit there instead of being put into the business which is also a big part of his channel, or to springboard into a new series. I don’t think the hate has been warranted, but that’s just me. Keep up the content Phoenix, the hate unfortunately won’t be going anywhere.
It still is a good series. Caleb maybe could’ve sold the games he didn’t want anymore to add it back into his budget so he could buy the games he would enjoy, but I don’t have much to say otherwise. Henry made some very good points
Sorry but everyone who was offended by that was being ridiculous. He didn't even sell the entire collection, he sold some of it off in preparation for a move. It's HIS STUFF and he can do what he wants with it. Everyone here has probably sold stuff from their collection even if they at one point intended to keep it.
Honestly I think it’s okay and healthy to do this. For a lot of people collecting is mostly about the thrill of finding and obtaining something hard to find. Like unlocking an achievement. But then it sits on a shelf or in a box and is never touched again. So I think it’s okay to decide you’re not that in love with it and to sell it and use that money for the next thing you move onto collecting.
Yeah it was because he said it was “the GameCube collection of his childhood dreams” at the beginning of each video but really it was just him building inventory. He didn’t actually want Pokemon Box, he wanted it for the thumbnail. Had he been more upfront about how he was buying the games as an exercise and not for himself people wouldn’t have minded as much.
To save you the hundreds if not thousands of hate comments, maybe its the whole thing of the massive price jacking of stuff and only looking at this as a business rather than actual game collecting is why there is a lot of hate. I mean, I've watched this channel for a while and it doesn't seem like its one of those channels that actually enjoys the hunting for games or finding games you actually cherish and want to play/missed out playing when you were younger. It seems more like you are only interested in how much you can buy something for or how much you can get for it rather than the actual enjoyment of gaming. Its like if some celebrity who is known for price gouging their merch heard that game hunting was a popular niche and decided to jump into it and rather than doing it for the love of gaming, its just looked at is as how much you can get for X which doesn't help your case when your videos/shorts are "Can I make a profit hunting at Goodwill or Books a Million or Half Priced Books."

But his prices are like DKOldies where you're charging 150 for Pokemon Red when a loose copy of Pokemon Red is going for 60 dollars. Sure, the complete price is around 380 but no one is really looking for a complete one except for people like him who are keeping that concept in people's mind.
I think you deserve some of your criticisms. To chalk up the majority of the hate you receive to “people disliking you being more successful than them” shows a lack of self-awareness. Yes, some may feel that way, but have you ever asked yourself why so many criticize you? As an early viewer during the pandemic, I noticed behaviors that rubbed people the wrong way. You would go from store to store, scan every item, and only buy 2-3 things. While this may seem small, such behaviors can be off-putting. You’ve been a bit smug when called out for it, though it has improved. I admire your ambition to build a successful business, but when you vlog every step of the way, you leave yourself open for people to pick apart some of your behavior/dealings.
Very on point. The reseller wave of tubers....did need to happen as general dorky guy with his games doesn't stand out after 15 years of utube same stuff, if u ddint get in early it was hard to stand out unless you were uniquly talented like scott woz. Early 2000s collecting was resellers are middle aged guys that look like they own a dirty gas station to now internet savvy 20 somethings are sellers and most are conflicted. But yeah.....the whole wishing I was as successful thing rofl...I have a career and do some cons and ebay on the side. It's a good hustle when you want to take out money, take time off work....lots of collectors work in public service, have completly normal lives with a 401k and health insurance,....I don't want any part of reselling as only income. It's not a dream for most people and most people can tell when someone is being skeevy.....so many times when I saw pheonix resale behavior at cons when he first attended thinking sellers there were idiots and penny pinched....yo cons aren't places to get crazy deals, u have opportunity to make some deals but it's confidence of unique stuff all in one area and love of collecting....trying to resale at a con and then being a rude crybaby was 2 years ago when stopped watching...until this click bait title. This guy always reminded me of the dude in high-school that got his heart stomped by some girl and took years to get over and talked about it all the time while also not being there for his friends when he was with....said girl. Old tubers aren't all great CJR used to be great content then he went off deep end pity party. End of day....this is supposed to be entertainment....and if you start to take advantage of viewers time and energy or money, see you MJR 2018 pay for my roadtrip debakle....your audience will turn on you....and like completionist....where there is smoke....usually fire.
There is a reason you get more hate than Pixel Game Squad, Retro Rick, or Mort's Garage, i think it's very ignorant for everyone to say the people hating on you dont have any logic and are just jealous because they do have valid points. Some more valid than others but one reason is because you're not really a collector like the other channels I listed, while you do enjoy some videogames and play some, you have to admit you didnt get into it for your love of gaming, it was mainly because of the financial gain. Another is because you sell on amazon and everyone already knows how absolutely ridiculously expensive retro games are on there, it is taking advantage of people that dont know any better, you can be a full time reseller and make good profit without selling on amazon. Another reason is because of your app, I know you denied it but you do have a big influence and are contributing to good condition games and handhelds being taken off ebay and being sold directly to you so you can sell them for way more on Amazon, you doing this and promoting this is making an impact and will inspire other people to sell on amazon too instead of eBay and that takes less stock that is reasonably priced to be available so since there are less on ebay now, prices on there will go up. An example is I was watching Pixel Game Squad's whatnot auction and Riff decided to not sell a copy of wii sports to his fans and instead decided he can sell it to you instead to get more money out of it. That left a bad taste in my mouth. People are sick of prices going up due to the popularity of resellers. I do think these points are exaggerated but there is validity to them. I do think the major reason though is because youre not actually about the games, you're about what the value of the game is.
A lot of it does seem like a "hating the player" instead of "the game" though, and I do watch and enjoy your channel, but I see the valid points of the opposing side too.
Games are not great for flipping compared to most things....so if it was just the money....then he's crazy to stock to games, clothing, art, cards, electronics random stuff from the garage sale flippers that shoe game flipping is like 4% of what they flip and they pick up deals just like everyone. Real m oney is in random books, music etc. My buddy does this full time and sells way more random stuff you don't even look at a garage sale for 1-15 dollars and sells it for 60, 200, 600....like old cupcake papers decorations from the 1940s....way bigger flips put there. 50 cents into 150 bucks happen all the time.
I think he used it as a way to announce to his fans that he won’t be reading comments from now on and how to contact him if you need to. Also, he mentioned that he wanted to use this information to help other creators on their journey to growing and the love and hate and how to cope. Not all videos have to be catered to any one person
On the way home from a vacation, my fiancé and I stopped at a local game store to browse their inventory. I got in a conversation with the owner who had attended a variety of conventions, and somehow your name/channel came up. He had met you, as well as a number of other youtubers within the industry. He had mixed opinions on a number of them, some good some bad. But when it came to you, he stressed what a good and honest reseller/person you seemed to be in his eyes. I remember that every time I watch this, or your main channel. Everyone will have an opinion Caleb, but the only one that should truly matter are those of your family, and yourself. Remember, you never know what is going on in a negative persons life, and odds are, if they're being overly negative, it can't be very good. Stay strong.

Literally 👆🏼 I genuinely get turned up when people hate. A lot of collectors are just miserably entitled and would rather it sit on their shelves than us sell them to people who actually play them. On top of that, they are mad about supply and demand. Just genuinely internet haters are ALWAYS real life losers. 10/10 times 100% of the time. Keep grinding
I been watching since before the main channel was 1k subscribers, and i been watching riff even before that. anyways the hobby, reselling, etc can already be negative let alone putting yourselves out there like this on youtube, and honestly most people who spam hateful bs is for multiple reasons primarily imo: 1. people are just projecting some personal issues or externalizing their own internal demons because they're shitty 2. nice comments don't really stick with creators or people as much as the negative ones, so many people know this and purposely leave shitty comments to stick out more/troll/be remembered. all this said keep up the good work and from that spare bedroom with the bubble tape on the wall / little miniature shed to spanky, the basement, etc, you've done super well my dude and i'm proud of you, if you ever make it to michigan hit me up and i'll sell you some cool stuff!

Of course, there is people that will hate that you provided a formula to do it but I think your transparency is your strength. Cause it’s making an impact. The one big argument to be made in this video that you really didn't address is hate vs criticism. While I understand that hate helps no one, criticism should be not ignored and you seem to think it's just hate. The reason why the gaming community might not like you is because you have caused a mass inflation in the gaming market. Any time someone even wants to get a video game for somewhat of a deal, it's taken by some reseller now in days. And youtubers getting tons of hate when they get more popular isn't necessarily all true. Yes while some may get more hate because they might be doing something that's offensive when it's really not, however that's not the case for youtubers like yourself. The reason why you get mass amounts of hate is because you resell, there are many other youtubers who are bigger than you and don't get that much hate (or criticism) because they don't resell or do things that make people upset. Plus you also had sold more than half of the GameCube collection, where you got deals, and gifts sent to you. My point is, if you want less hate/criticism start looking at more helpful comments that might be harsh but helpful to grow the channel and make most people happy. Whether you ignore this comment or shrug it off I hope this is helpful for others in the community.

I generally like your content. The videos about the hunt and humble beginnings was a great look at another side of the hobby. That being said I think instead of justifying and explain to your audience the reasons why you have so much hate, I think you should look at your actions and reflect on what your audience on CZcams sees. Your partners Spanky and Rick are borderline treated and somewhat even memed as second class partners but in reality they’re just helping you succeed... You talk about channel growth and how profitable you’ve been on Amazon but then make jokes about how little you compensate the dudes literally helping you succeed. Please just try being a nicer guy when the camera is on and don’t always mansplain to audience why your business practices are the best and then ask them to use your app that generates more money for YOU. You’re audience that you as a creator have fostered is hopefully geared towards EVERYONE (perhaps even those that know more than you think…in fact you probably could learn from if we’re being honest…) If this video is meant to get in front of the hate and change it, I’d start with some of this advice and not just looking at it and saying, “that’s just how the world is when you’ve ‘made it’ “. I want you to succeed but you’re blinded by the wrong things at the moment. I understand folks being mean just because they’re a hater but sometimes it’s justified and sometimes it isn’t… I’m all about someone doing their thing on the internet but you can’t expect an audience to not have a certain type of response when the vibe has changed. One thing I love about your content is that you’re always willing to change it up and keep innovating. Just remember why people watched your platform to begin with. Food for thought, take it or leave it. Last thing I’ll say… Riff is the culture. He makes y’alls content online SING. You can tell when he’s involved and when he’s not... I’m not sure how many clients he currently takes on but he understands this space well and should be respected more in my opinion. I’d take more stock in him and Spanky as partners than lunches with web app builders that want even more of your money. Perfectly said! While I’m sure there are people out there that actually hate him. Most of the “hate” is just constructive criticism. But he describes himself multiple times as a narcissist. And a hallmark trait of a narcissist is not being able to take criticism well. Which we are getting a masterclass in with all his videos lately.

I can’t even begin to explain to you how much I loved your videos at first. You were the first person I discovered to do such a thing. You were truly making a living off what you loved! I discovered you a little over a year ago now. The best way I can describe your channel is this. I binged all your videos like it was a Netflix series, I WAS HOOKED. But, over that time, I saw the kind of person you were. And since that, I’ve respected you not only as a creator, but a human as well. Great video dude. I'm fairly new to finding your main channel, maybe 2 months ago or so. I really enjoy a lot of your vids and watched a ton of them. I love when you visit stores and talk to people about their business as well. People hate because they see their nostalgic childhood or teenager years in the games you are flipping and they can't believe someone would do that to their beloved hobby .. or something like that. My theory at least. Anyway you seem like a good dude to me man. I'm over 40, I still play games and don't give a shit if people resell or flip games for a profit. Very well said! I can totally relate to every stage that you talked about even though I only have like 1900 subscribers. People would be shocked at some of the hate that I’ve gotten simply for existing. Embracing the hate, definitely doesn’t work from my point of view , though it certainly will bring you more attention from what I’ve seen. You would think someone as small as me would never have people make videos about him. No one prepares you for this . I know we should lead with empathy and understanding and love your enemy, I just wish they wouldn’t make it so difficult. I would definitely get frustrated when people said ignore the haters, that’s always from people Who’ve never gotten any significant amount of hate just for trying to do something, creative and informative. I’ve literally had to tell people “ please don’t keep sending me this stuff or I’m going to block you.” that’s literally how much I don’t wanna see it. The people who don’t like me have absolutely nothing to do with me. I am not a trained therapist and I can’t fix these people. I get that a lot of these people just need someone to talk to I get and if it’s about video games, I’m down for that. I also like the part of the video where you talked about how people act like this is the first world problems but the problems are still real, most normal people will never be exposed to this kind of this level of negativity just from casually being on social media. I’ve had peoples hate videos about Me recommended to me by CZcams, and that really sucks. I’m not sure if you’ll read this, but I hope it finds you well. You’re absolutely right about deleting the CZcams studio app, I’m always happier when it’s not on my phone.
Keep at it mate! As a full time game reseller myself here in Australia, you have some of the best content videos when it comes to reselling, but also are extremely real with your videos, just like this one. This channel and your main channel, when ever I see a video come up on my feed, they are always the main ones I want to watch. Great insight, great content, and regardless if it's about the business side of things or just game selling or game hunting in general, they are all great! I Love the interviews with other sellers/shop owner videos as well! I very rarely comment on youtube videos, but I thought I'd just leave this comment here, if you read it or not, just know you have a HUGE amount of people who respect you and what you are doing and those people are the only ones who matter in the end.🙂
One thing I've always held on to is that when you're doing something right, people are going to have hate towards you. It's only when you stop getting hate that you need to worry about what you're doing. Let the haters hate, but keep doing you! Stay true to who you are and nothing else will ever matter.

Factor this in: as you become more popular, other content creators will try to score points off you in videos to ride that Phoenix coattail trend, all the way to popularity. Back in 2014 - 2015 when i started selling video games at a local flea market, i started getting a little hate for being a re-saler but not too bad. in 2017 the wife and i started our brick and mortar store and things settled down, unfortunately with the economy they way it is we might be going back to an online store only on Ebay. Only time will well, Rent is tripling in our area and people just aren't spending money in our area, just trade credit.

You fell right into the trap, Riff. haha I will agree though, I don't think Caleb is a bad guy and I really admire him for doing what he does and Caleb has really had to put himself out there and take many, many chances to get where he has got to in his career as a re-seller. In some ways, I can certainly relate to Caleb because I am a re-seller too, but I am no where near the levels of success this man has reached so I can certainly admire Caleb for the work he has put in as a re-seller. It's not as easy as some people think and it can be very emotionally taxing, if that makes any sense.

At the end of the day scavengers are actually a necessary part of most ecosystems. People think when it comes to hunting using the whole animal is the most ethical way to use the kill and there’s nothing wrong with being efficient when you don’t have a lot of resources but it’s actually better for nature to give Mother Nature her cut of the hunt.

For me i think peoples opinion changed after you sold the GameCube collection… I think everyone felt hoodwinked in a sense as you portrayed it originally as the collection of your dreams… people really bought into the journey and to sell it straight away felt a bit strange…
I was introduced to Phoenix thru the Gamecube series, and I too got really invested into this idea that seemed so strange to me at the time, buying games to create a budget to buy for your collection. As the collection got closer to being complete the more exciting it got to see everything that had to come together to get the last few missing games. And then he sold the collection, and I remember being so surprised like a lot of people because I didn’t expect it. After some time though, it made sense. The point of the series was to finish a collection, and that was what got me to watch. The collection itself contained a lot of nostalgia sure, but ultimately I was watching to see where he would find the games, how much stuff he could find to build his budget, seeing if there was going to be a game that he would have to pass up because of lack of budget. The familiarity of it being Gamecube, games that I grew up with, helped make that connection for me. And now as someone as who collects too, there are only certain collections that I can keep. There’s always something that pops up that I want to go after, and sometimes it means letting go of other collections. Plus, the guy’s a content creator, you have to create content somehow and especially considering that was his first big series that I recall, that was a lot of money that was just going to sit there instead of being put into the business which is also a big part of his channel, or to springboard into a new series. I don’t think the hate has been warranted, but that’s just me. Keep up the content Phoenix, the hate unfortunately won’t be going anywhere.
It still is a good series. Caleb maybe could’ve sold the games he didn’t want anymore to add it back into his budget so he could buy the games he would enjoy, but I don’t have much to say otherwise. Henry made some very good points
Sorry but everyone who was offended by that was being ridiculous. He didn't even sell the entire collection, he sold some of it off in preparation for a move. It's HIS STUFF and he can do what he wants with it. Everyone here has probably sold stuff from their collection even if they at one point intended to keep it.
Honestly I think it’s okay and healthy to do this. For a lot of people collecting is mostly about the thrill of finding and obtaining something hard to find. Like unlocking an achievement. But then it sits on a shelf or in a box and is never touched again. So I think it’s okay to decide you’re not that in love with it and to sell it and use that money for the next thing you move onto collecting.

To save you the hundreds if not thousands of hate comments, maybe its the whole thing of the massive price jacking of stuff and only looking at this as a business rather than actual game collecting is why there is a lot of hate. I mean, I've watched this channel for a while and it doesn't seem like its one of those channels that actually enjoys the hunting for games or finding games you actually cherish and want to play/missed out playing when you were younger. It seems more like you are only interested in how much you can buy something for or how much you can get for it rather than the actual enjoyment of gaming. Its like if some celebrity who is known for price gouging their merch heard that game hunting was a popular niche and decided to jump into it and rather than doing it for the love of gaming, its just looked at is as how much you can get for X which doesn't help your case when your videos/shorts are "Can I make a profit hunting at Goodwill or Books a Million or Half Priced Books."

But his prices are like DKOldies where you're charging 150 for Pokemon Red when a loose copy of Pokemon Red is going for 60 dollars. Sure, the complete price is around 380 but no one is really looking for a complete one except for people like him who are keeping that concept in people's mind.

As an early viewer during the pandemic, I noticed behaviors that rubbed people the wrong way. You would go from store to store, scan every item, and only buy 2-3 things. While this may seem small, such behaviors can be off-putting. You’ve been a bit smug when called out for it, though it has improved.
I admire your ambition to build a successful business, but when you vlog every step of the way, you leave yourself open for people to pick apart some of your behavior/dealings.

The reseller wave of tubers....did need to happen as general dorky guy with his games doesn't stand out after 15 years of utube same stuff, if u ddint get in early it was hard to stand out unless you were uniquly talented like scott woz. Early 2000s collecting was resellers are middle aged guys that look like they own a dirty gas station to now internet savvy 20 somethings are sellers and most are conflicted. But yeah.....the whole wishing I was as successful thing rofl...I have a career and do some cons and ebay on the side. It's a good hustle when you want to take out money, take time off work....lots of collectors work in public service, have completly normal lives with a 401k and health insurance,....I don't want any part of reselling as only income. It's not a dream for most people and most people can tell when someone is being skeevy.....so many times when I saw pheonix resale behavior at cons when he first attended thinking sellers there were idiots and penny pinched....yo cons aren't places to get crazy deals, u have opportunity to make some deals but it's confidence of unique stuff all in one area and love of collecting....trying to resale at a con and then being a rude crybaby was 2 years ago when stopped watching...until this click bait title.
This guy always reminded me of the dude in high-school that got his heart stomped by some girl and took years to get over and talked about it all the time while also not being there for his friends when he was with....said girl. Old tubers aren't all great CJR used to be great content then he went off deep end pity party. There is a reason you get more hate than Pixel Game Squad, Retro Rick, or Mort's Garage, i think it's very ignorant for everyone to say the people hating on you dont have any logic and are just jealous because they do have valid points. Some more valid than others but one reason is because you're not really a collector like the other channels I listed, while you do enjoy some videogames and play some, you have to admit you didnt get into it for your love of gaming, it was mainly because of the financial gain. Another is because you sell on amazon and everyone already knows how absolutely ridiculously expensive retro games are on there, it is taking advantage of people that dont know any better, you can be a full time reseller and make good profit without selling on amazon. Another reason is because of your app, I know you denied it but you do have a big influence and are contributing to good condition games and handhelds being taken off ebay and being sold directly to you so you can sell them for way more on Amazon, you doing this and promoting this is making an impact and will inspire other people to sell on amazon too instead of eBay and that takes less stock that is reasonably priced to be available so since there are less on ebay now, prices on there will go up. An example is I was watching Pixel Game Squad's whatnot auction and Riff decided to not sell a copy of wii sports to his fans and instead decided he can sell it to you instead to get more money out of it. That left a bad taste in my mouth. People are sick of prices going up due to the popularity of resellers. I do think these points are exaggerated but there is validity to them. I do think the major reason though is because youre not actually about the games, you're about what the value of the game is.
A lot of it does seem like a "hating the player" instead of "the game" though, and I do watch and enjoy your channel, but I see the valid points of the opposing side too.
Games are not great for flipping compared to most things....so if it was just the money....then he's crazy to stock to games, clothing, art, cards, electronics random stuff from the garage sale flippers that shoe game flipping is like 4% of what they flip and they pick up deals just like everyone. Real m oney is in random books, music etc. My buddy does this full time and sells way more random stuff you don't even look at a garage sale for 1-15 dollars and sells it for 60, 200, 600....like old cupcake papers decorations from the 1940s....way bigger flips put there. 50 cents into 150 bucks happen all the time.
I think it was the gamecube gambit. When you sold that collection it burnt a lot of people. People like collectors but hate resellers.

I think he used it as a way to announce to his fans that he won’t be reading comments from now on and how to contact him if you need to. Also, he mentioned that he wanted to use this information to help other creators on their journey to growing and the love and hate and how to cope. Not all videos have to be catered to any one person

On the way home from a vacation, my fiancé and I stopped at a local game store to browse their inventory. I got in a conversation with the owner who had attended a variety of conventions, and somehow your name/channel came up. He had met you, as well as a number of other youtubers within the industry. He had mixed opinions on a number of them, some good some bad. But when it came to you, he stressed what a good and honest reseller/person you seemed to be in his eyes. I remember that every time I watch this, or your main channel. Everyone will have an opinion Caleb, but the only one that should truly matter are those of your family, and yourself. Remember, you never know what is going on in a negative persons life, and odds are, if they're being overly negative, it can't be very good. Stay strong.

I genuinely get turned up when people hate. A lot of collectors are just miserably entitled and would rather it sit on their shelves than us sell them to people who actually play them. On top of that, they are mad about supply and demand. Just genuinely internet haters are ALWAYS real life losers. 10/10 times 100% of the time. Keep grinding

I been watching since before the main channel was 1k subscribers, and i been watching riff even before that. anyways the hobby, reselling, etc can already be negative let alone putting yourselves out there like this on youtube, and honestly most people who spam hateful bs is for multiple reasons primarily imo:
1. people are just projecting some personal issues or externalizing their own internal demons because they're shitty
2. nice comments don't really stick with creators or people as much as the negative ones, so many people know this and purposely leave shitty comments to stick out more/troll/be remembered.

I for one appreciate you sharing your learnings, advice and experience from your perspective as a reseller and CZcamsr. I have no skin in the game given I do not fit into your typical audience category. I am just a viewer from the UK who found your Phoenix Resale channel during the covid lockdown and have enjoyed following your journey since on Penix and main. All the best to you.
The one big argument to be made in this video that you really didn't address is hate vs criticism. While I understand that hate helps no one, criticism should be not ignored and you seem to think it's just hate. The reason why the gaming community might not like you is because you have caused a mass inflation in the gaming market. Any time someone even wants to get a video game for somewhat of a deal, it's taken by some reseller now in days. And youtubers getting tons of hate when they get more popular isn't necessarily all true. Yes while some may get more hate because they might be doing something that's offensive when it's really not, however that's not the case for youtubers like yourself. The reason why you get mass amounts of hate is because you resell, there are many other youtubers who are bigger than you and don't get that much hate (or criticism) because they don't resell or do things that make people upset. Plus you also had sold more than half of the GameCube collection, where you got deals, and gifts sent to you. My point is, if you want less hate/criticism start looking at more helpful comments that might be harsh but helpful to grow the channel and make most people happy. Whether you ignore this comment or shrug it off I hope this is helpful for others in the community.

I generally like your content. The videos about the hunt and humble beginnings was a great look at another side of the hobby. That being said I think instead of justifying and explain to your audience the reasons why you have so much hate, I think you should look at your actions and reflect on what your audience on CZcams sees.
Your partners Spanky and Rick are borderline treated and somewhat even memed as second class partners but in reality they’re just helping you succeed... You talk about channel growth and how profitable you’ve been on Amazon but then make jokes about how little you compensate the dudes literally helping you succeed. Please just try being a nicer guy when the camera is on and don’t always mansplain to audience why your business practices are the best and then ask them to use your app that generates more money for YOU. You’re audience that you as a creator have fostered is hopefully geared towards EVERYONE (perhaps even those that know more than you think…in fact you probably could learn from if we’re being honest…) If this video is meant to get in front of the hate and change it, I’d start with some of this advice and not just looking at it and saying, “that’s just how the world is when you’ve ‘made it’ “. I want you to succeed but you’re blinded by the wrong things at the moment. I understand folks being mean just because they’re a hater but sometimes it’s justified and sometimes it isn’t…
I’m all about someone doing their thing on the internet but you can’t expect an audience to not have a certain type of response when the vibe has changed. One thing I love about your content is that you’re always willing to change it up and keep innovating. Just remember why people watched your platform to begin with. Food for thought, take it or leave it.
Last thing I’ll say… Riff is the culture. He makes y’alls content online SING. You can tell when he’s involved and when he’s not... I’m not sure how many clients he currently takes on but he understands this space well and should be respected more in my opinion. I’d take more stock in him and Spanky as partners than lunches with web app builders that want even more of your money. I know you’re locked in on that venture but those personal connecting study helped you be who you are online shouldn’t be overlooked.

Perfectly said! While I’m sure there are people out there that actually hate him. Most of the “hate” is just constructive criticism. But he describes himself multiple times as a narcissist. And a hallmark trait of a narcissist is not being able to take criticism well. Which we are getting a masterclass in with all his videos lately.

I follow a lot of this community . As a matter of fact, the entire reason I love the retro space is largely contributed to you Caleb. I can’t even begin to explain to you how much I loved your videos at first. You were the first person I discovered to do such a thing. You were truly making a living off what you loved! I discovered you a little over a year ago now. The best way I can describe your channel is this. I binged all your videos like it was a Netflix series, I WAS HOOKED. But, over that time, I saw the kind of person you were. And since that, I’ve respected you not only as a creator, but a human as well. I don’t know you personally, but I sure as heck don’t need to in order to know you are a good person. When I met you at Retro world expo last year, you were nothing but respectful. (I ran into you when you bought like 13 Pokemon Gameboy colors lol) We even made a deal and you had bought some things from me. I was more than happy to support you and will continue to. Keep being you Caleb, you are a good man.
I realize im probably to late to the party and you wont catch this.....but ive met you in person and been watching your videos for the longest time. You've helped me with my business and as a person who is socially awkward and hates communication lol. Hate will always follow success because of jealousy but truly your generosity and kindness and faith are what shine through man..... Just remember that 99% of people who are trashing you don’t amount to anything. They just want to make themselves somehow feel better. I agree some video games should not be as expensive or hard to access but one, its called emulation, and two its the name of the game. I gotta say. Once I met you last year and hung out after not in the show setting I saw the things people said about you are wrong. Yes you go out and get your stuff and flip but never anything wrong with the hustle. Very down to earth and loved you were great with advice as well.

People hate because they want what you have. Your advice helped me start a side hustle myself and it has worked. You just made it big and have good resources now after a lot of work. I think you should be proud of yourself and I have watched your channel since 2021 and I have never gotten the smug/holier than thou perception of you. You price right and are collaborative and aren't a liar/scammer. I think people really are jealous of someone young and successful and wish they could do what you do and try to make them look bad.

Great video dude. I'm fairly new to finding your main channel, maybe 2 months ago or so. I really enjoy a lot of your vids and watched a ton of them. I love when you visit stores and talk to people about their business as well. People hate because they see their nostalgic childhood or teenager years in the games you are flipping and they can't believe someone would do that to their beloved hobby .. or something like that. My theory at least. Anyway you seem like a good dude to me man. I'm over 40, I still play games and don't give a shit if people resell or flip games for a profit. Do whatever you want with your life and career! Keep going and fuck the haters. If I could sell a video game and make a profit I'd do it too.

Very well said! I can totally relate to every stage that you talked about even though I only have like 1900 subscribers. People would be shocked at some of the hate that I’ve gotten simply for existing. Embracing the hate, definitely doesn’t work from my point of view , though it certainly will bring you more attention from what I’ve seen. You would think someone as small as me would never have people make videos about him. No one prepares you for this . I know we should lead with empathy and understanding and love your enemy, I just wish they wouldn’t make it so difficult. I would definitely get frustrated when people said ignore the haters, that’s always from people Who’ve never gotten any significant amount of hate just for trying to do something, creative and informative. The story about people messaging you that someone’s hating on you has happened to me so many times. I’ve literally had to tell people “ please don’t keep sending me this stuff or I’m going to block you.” that’s literally how much I don’t wanna see it. The people who don’t like me have absolutely nothing to do with me. I am not a trained therapist and I can’t fix these people. I get that a lot of these people just need someone to talk to I get and if it’s about video games, I’m down for that. I also like the part of the video where you talked about how people act like this is the first world problems but the problems are still real, most normal people will never be exposed to this kind of this level of negativity just from casually being on social media. I’ve had peoples hate videos about Me recommended to me by CZcams, and that really sucks. I’m not sure if you’ll read this, but I hope it finds you well. You’re absolutely right about deleting the CZcams studio app, I’m always happier when it’s not on my phone.
Keep at it mate! As a full time game reseller myself here in Australia, you have some of the best content videos when it comes to reselling, but also are extremely real with your videos, just like this one.
This channel and your main channel, when ever I see a video come up on my feed, they are always the main ones I want to watch.

I very rarely comment on youtube videos, but I thought I'd just leave this comment here, if you read it or not, just know you have a HUGE amount of people who respect you and what you are doing and those people are the only ones who matter in the end.🙂
One thing I've always held on to is that when you're doing something right, people are going to have hate towards you. It's only when you stop getting hate that you need to worry about what you're doing. Let the haters hate, but keep doing you! Stay true to who you are and nothing else will ever matter.

Factor this in: as you become more popular, other content creators will try to score points off you in videos to ride that Phoenix coattail trend, all the way to popularity. Which obviously attracts more people who wouldn't initially have even been bothered. I love your channel btw, been a fan for a good while

Back in 2014 - 2015 when i started selling video games at a local flea market, i started getting a little hate for being a re-saler but not too bad. in 2017 the wife and i started our brick and mortar store and things settled down, unfortunately with the economy they way it is we might be going back to an online store only on Ebay. Only time will well, Rent is tripling in our area and people just aren't spending money in our area, just trade credit.
