Dripping Springs Tiger Band - 4A UIL State Finals Performance - 11/3/09

- The Dripping Springs High School Mighty Tiger Band performs their 2009 show "Moments in Crime" at the 4A UIL State Finals at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on November 3, 2009. The Band took 1st Place with this performance and is now the 2009 UIL 4A State Marching Band Champion! Way to go Tiger Band!
Wow!! Our band director told us to watch this video to see what a top notch band program does. Our band has gone to state a few times but you guys are a legend in this state. Everyday when we get sidetracked and loose focus our band director says "wonder what dripping springs is doing right now?" this band us a real inspiration!

Of all the DSHS Shows, this is my favorite. I wish I had been in the band at that time!
Wow, a well deserved victory. I graduated from Waxahachie High School last year, and we got 8th at state...the first time our band has ever made state finals in school history. I was a wonderful feeling being in the top 10 with bands like these. :)
i have to say congrats to the kids. i was in this band in high school (05 grad) and it wasn't all about the directors....the kids really push themselves to be out there and do their best. congrats again...eyes with pride!
Everything about this band is great. I go to Bastrop High and our band teacher told us to watch ya'll and I am more than impressed.
I have watched this performance many times and am convinced! Your skills are so good both from marching fundamentals and balanced musical sound. I know you won state, but you have no idea how much far above you are from other states, even 5A Texas! I'm done with 5A bigger/bigger syndrome. You are where it is at and keep doing it directors and students! I will watch for you again in years to come.
I go to Hays High School, and was at this contest. I just wanna say that you guys were amazing last year. Props to the euphonium soloist. Best of luck to y'all next year, and I will see you guys at Westlake this year!!!

I taught in 'THE' top band progam in Texas for a number of years and have to say that this was a VERY impresiive performance. The arrangement is awesome and the marching fundamentals are executed extremely well. You should all be proud of yourselves for such an amazing performance! Kudos and congrats to all the kids and band staff!!!
This show has the quality of a great DCI performance. Pacing is great, no excessive props, music is both strong and sensitive, with a dose of drama. My congratulations go out to the directors and writers of this show, and to all the performers for making magic happen. I had not heard of Dripping Springs HS before, but this show has inspired me to continue my music degree (I'm a junior in college), with the hope that I can help create music like this. Huge congratulations, and continued success!

Thanks! I was very happy with our snare line this year! I was the only vet and the other two girls, after never playing snare before, really worked their butts off to get to where we were :)

This is really an incredible performance. I'm from Mckinney High School, ( you guys probably don't know who we are ) last year was my freshman year, and this really solidified my interest in marching band. ( That and Phantom Regiment :P ) Hopefully we'll go to state next year in 2011 and be able to see you guys there, we've greatly improved since last year and might have what it takes now. Congrats to the Dripping Springs band! P.S. your slow piece was the same as ours :P

My school Whig is friendswood high got 2nd but I'm not sad or mad . I am happy y'all got first it doesn't madder how u did the other day or that mornin it's how you did that day .we just got out marched .I'm just happy I was marching on the band that got 2nd and went to state every time this decade and got 2nd and1time 3rd place and 1 time 4th I think but we will just have to do better in 2012

Boerne Samuel V. Champion High here, this is freaking amazing... we missed state by one position last time around (we made it the time before that) and you guys are incredible. Dripping Springs took 1st in State several times in a row back in the 80s when they were a 2A band. They placed 8th in finals last time (2007). Thanks for your comments!
You guys have an awesome band program. We had the privilege to see your Honor Band performance at the TMEA Convention a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to meeting up again in 2012!

We have friends who live in McKinney (they have a trumpet-playing son in middle school, so you'll meet him soon...), and we've marched at the Centennial in Frisco, just down the road from you guys. Thanks for your kind comments. We hope the Royal Pride Band makes it to state next year, too...and we hope we'll be there again to see it!!

No, just the Color Guard does Winter Guard. We do have a euphonium player who's going to do Winter Guard with them this year.

for the percussion break where did yall get that idea? I saw a band last year i think at area or state that performed before us that had something similar to that. And nice show by the way.
I am from friendswood great show. wish subsitute judge didn't give us a 4 on music last year. but anyways we thought yall did great this year at our contest keep up the great work and we will see you at our next contest!!!
