Solitude has driven this lad insane and now his only way of making friends is growing them and literally eating them to fill that hole inside his soul. Cute game.

he probably got stuck in his dreams because of solitude in real life and decided to kill his friends irl because whatever or whoever you saw in real life might appear in ur dreams, his sanity peaked when he can't find something to fulfill him
#relateble
I just think he was cursed by some god to live alone forever and its doing his best to retain sanity for as long as possible. But then the god messes his things trying to drive him insane anyway. Aa for the flesh things it could be an aftermath of his interactions in such a strange enviroment. Could even be the only thing he desires in that state of life. To eat that and thats why he tries to stay alive and sane for as long as he can

I really like the "show dont tell" aspect of weird/supernatural/cosmic genre but wish this game "showed" a tiny bit more. Still a great ludum dare project
I mean, classic cosmic horror is VERY Tell-Don't-Show.
Yeah it should have shown him growing more things in his garden other than organs like it should start growing muscles, tendons, and then skin and then having you bring his dead his dead friend back to life using the things you have and then you leaving him out to be struck by thunder and then be brought to life Frankenstein style.
a little bit of both, it's about tell-don't-show and show-don't-explain, making you fear about something that always existed but you never understand because it's bigger than us making us realize how insignificant we are which for the most time it leads to insanity.
this was well made. i don't think horror here wasn't that creature, it was the situation, this human(s) and his home being separated from everything he knew and just be there with his things lost in space forever, even when you are stranded on an island on earth you can live with hope of being rescued, but somewhere that is not our planet? horrifying, and it's well executed because it starts like a normal video game and then it came the thought that; holy shit living like this and nothing else would just be insane.
Ok but the facial expressions he makes at the end

I kinda like that his english gets choppier as he descends in to madness.
The game was originally in Russian, this was a translation that was not spectacular but understandable. I like your idea tho lol
al peteria he didn’t even descend into madness. He got calmer after killing things since it goes from Day 7 to Day 1
And here i tought living alone wasn't a bad idea
It isn't though, but you should remain in contact with close friends or interact to people etc.
no its fine the man just has schizophrenia
As long as the Worm from Beyond the Skies doesn't decide to pay you a visit, it is a good idea!
It good i have friend overseas but you know how crazy to live alone in big house
@@GygasDistruttore what is that worm btw? I thought it's his consciousness trying to convince him...
I think I finally understand the theme of this game; *loneliness*
You can probably piece it all together from his behavior and his home. The days represent how long he has been alone in that empty void. When Day 0 has reached, the cycle has been repeated over multiple times, to the point he's doing almost the same task everyday, while growing a crop that will soon change that. At this point, he reached *insanity*
The two beings, the worm and the radio, represent his other problems;
-The *radio* symbolized his repressed memories, or thoughts, from the past. The way he destroyed it shows that he doesn't want to remember the bad times that makes him regret his decision until now.
-The *worm* represents a stranger from the outside. It shows up as his final chance of not being alone. However, he decided to locked himself and underwent solitude from the outside world.
Interesting analogy good sir/mam or person.
And then (for me) he went on a killing spree to feed himself on Day "‽" Because all the monologue he said are similar to what i would hear from someone trying to talk to a child
"Big and juicy" probably a fat boy/girl
"Do not cry. Be quiet" a cry baby
"You are a small vile sly" probably symbolize an agile child
"Enough for being alone. Others are waiting for you." The last survivor
"Hush now. We'll go home soon" either he's on a process of kidnapping the childrens, or he killed them....and he's just talking to the lump of flesh like he did with "Mike" the Skull and the "We'll go home soon" just means he's going back home and have a feast
Yeah no shit sherlock
Unnecessary it’s clear to see he’s lonely, he’s living on a piece of land 💀
I wish there were options to not do those things, to get a different ending
a journey of a man who does his chores, kicks a ball into the void, digs up his dead friend, and collects his bloody squid lumps and enjoys the rest of his day
how relatable! (love the game, super well made)

@@traker4654 hmm.. good question! maybe his friend returned it to him and in a fit of rage he killed them since he secretly despised the ball..

@@fouralive9636 but then all the chores he did would've been undone but they weren't
Well....i dont know....i was just wandering why its starting at day 6 to day 1....but i guess everythings in this game doesnt make any sense, :v
from the perspective of the days being a countdown, his descent into madness is straight-forward. but taken chronologically...after killing everything he is at peace which imo is scarier. rather than the idea that he became some sort of cannibalistic killer, i prefer the idea that he always was one and reached a point that he didn't see what he was doing as anything more than simply doing mundane chores.
the idea that "crazy people don't know they're crazy" made into a game.
Imo ur one makes more sense UwU
Zainyway I’m pretty sure the days are just counting down the week, as evidenced by the fact that the radio can be found on day six but is destroyed on day five.

Seeing him slowly descend into madness is even scarier. Being in an endless loop with the same house, no friends, same garden. Every day for eternity. He has many excuses to be this messed up.

I feel like alot of this comment section are focusing on the solitude = him becoming insane. This seems to be a vary small part of this, and from the dialogue it makes me think that the world has ended or something like that. Even the theory of him being held captive does not make sense. From the start of the game something is clearly not right with him. Someone's talk through the radio, and he says he already heard it before. And ends up breaking it, even though some person is clearly on the other side to stop. And he ignores it. He made himself be isolated, he did this to himself. The radio chould be people reaching out to him, to help. But he happily gets rid of that.

Its actually from “please don’t touch anything” the guy who did this music and that game are the same. I was wondering why these chiptunes were such bops.
alright, i'mma take a crack at this.
I agree with a lot of the comments that the overarching theme here is loneliness; this guy's doing everything he can to fill the days, until the isolation drives him insane and he starts... at best, hallucinating, at worst, inviting the worst parts of the WHATEVER he's in, to his island. Albeit unintentionally. If we take the radio and everything our incredibly unreliable narrator is saying at face value (the radio alert talking vaguely about things going down, what may have prevented "it", he dreams of people and houses [but it's boring], etc) , I'd suggest that there was an apocalypse and he was one of the few survivors; either it's a nightmare on a cosmic scale, hence the background, the "caterpillar" he kills, the flesh crop. Bringing the flesh "home" means he's either going to create something with it, or, more likely, he's going to eat it. Protag here's already made clear that he has a taste for meat, noted when he comments that the veggies taste good - but not as good as meat. So, uh. Consumption is likely, and I'm not sure he cooks it. He has a pot, but it would be pretty on-brand to just chomp it up while it still bled.
So, he's eating these ungodly things, which may or may not exist, and has clearly done so before. In fact, he's probably done all of this ad naseum, hence the countdown - he knows the pattern to a fault. (There's a pretty obvious alternative but I'll get to that, I promise.)
Here's a question then: why does everything fix itself after he's used it? Our man kicks a ball off to space and it's in his room the next day. He cuts the fishing pole, but it's repaired. Unless he does things we don't see - possible but unlikely - then something else is fixing it FOR him. Either the whatever trapping him here is "resetting" the place to a default state, keeping items, or the island itself is doing the resetting, assuming it isn't the creation of or somehow directly attached to an abomination itself - which is seems to be, based off the implied to be recurring presence of the "caterpillar;" best case, some eldritch thing ripped it off of normal space and now it's adrift, and occasionally nightmarish. Not only does our main man make a really worrisome comment about how his axe is good for logs AND caterpillars, he demands to know why the nonsense-talking thing keeps showing up. It's possible he's just gone absolutely mad and has a repeating cycle of his sanity declining until he eats the "meat" - in quotes due to it only possibly being real - and the whole thing starts over with a new week. Alternatively, even if this is a reversi of the timeline - either he or we are reliving this week backwards - there are still items that exist when they shouldn't. The radio was destroyed, so why is it there from day seven? the fishing pole was cut for string, so why does it still have a hook? etc. But that WOULD explain why the "caterpillar" was dead on the ground before our protagonist killed it--
except, he knows it'll come back, and that it should "sleep" until it returns again. So it's possible the body arose as it was going to "wake up" regardless of the butchery that preceded the next slaughter, and the upcoming flesh-fest. So is the "caterpillar" a warning, then? is it trying to pass on a message? Is it a hallucination? I have no idea; I do believe it IS real, but as much as any nightmare thing can BE real. Just enough to matter. haha. bad puns.
So here's another idea, brought to you by a human operating on the concept of sleep: This island IS latched to an eldritch thing, but it reacts to what he's thinking of or somehow wants/believes he should have. The books, for example - they're all books he's seen or thought of before, albeit none of them are his favorite, and all only appear when he decides he'll read that day. Perhaps the "caterpillar" is another example of that? He needs fertilizer, so something he can first use as fertilizer appears, but it's the worm - and he recalls what an awful thing it was, so it comes to life the next day in response to that memory of being alive.
Mind, that whole paragraph is a theory based on the loosest threads, and more than likely isn't the case; but it's an interesting idea.
Moving on: we've also got the matter of a dead body. It's clearly old, being only bones (unless our main character ate the flesh off of it. I'm not saying he did, but it's a very real possibility. Gardens don't grow fast, you know? And he willingly ate strange flesh growing... everywhere. It's entirely possible that cannibalism was an addition to his insanity. Alternatively, it's possible he's reliving how he killed Mike via the "caterpillar" and the fertilizer/meat growths are representative of what he did with the body. Given he states that Mike hated him but now "loves" him, it's possible the protagonist had some serious issues regarding his de-life-ified 'friend' and handled it poorly; from the "nobody likes you" line, he's had a lot of issues in the past too. A lot. And I'm not touching that "Can I kiss you on the cheek?"/"Not this time" exchange with a ten-foot pole. The implications curdle milk.)
Ignoring the possibility of Mike being someone our protagonist once knew, the alternative is that Mike lived on the island before him, and ended up super dead - how he died doesn't necessarily matter, just that it's a potential sign that this has happened before, with another, and may be a form of cycle. Supported by this is the radio chatter - it questions if they could have prevented something from happening, and "more importantly," if they should have. Implying that awful event has or will happen again, and was brought about by select individuals. So returns the whole cycle thematic.
There's also the interesting tidbit of the radio talking "to" our protagonist, but I'm not sure if that's an early warning of how batshit he is, or if that's a manifestation of the Horror talking through it. Most likely a hallucination.
Unfortunately, that's about all I can glean from this; I'd love to hear if anyone else has got any ideas from this. Cheers!
Just wanted to say I loved reading your intepretations, great comment
Yeah he is caught in a pocket dimension where an entity is toying with him. But I believe that only people that have it in them, manage to get trapped in there. And the process that opens the door to that cosmic void entity, or eldritch abomination, as others have stated, is shown to us via the loop he is caught on.We see it through his eyes because he is already in there, but we can piece things togheter. A gread deal of evil and chaos would then tune you to it. I mean, he wanted that extasis, despite the gruesome and morbid nature of it, and thus, the entity grants it to him. Be careful what you wish for. There is logic in madness. A twisted one, which traditionally the void is associated with. He is basically in hell. Hell doesn't have to hold us all. It is an individual cell.

Wait, it looks like it's going backwards in time, and day 3 looks like the aftermath of day 2... I don't get it. Can someone organize this into a concise storyline?
some weird time shit is definitely going on.. the grave doesnt appear until day 5, as if grass had grown over it on days 6 and 7
I think that do to the insanity present here, time has become a jumbled mess. Some parts seem to be going backwards. Like the thing that showed up in yard or the soccer ball. Other items are going forward, like the painting or the radio. Others don't fit in any timeline, like the scarecrow or the fishing pole.
Light Walker there is a fixed time line we just see it backwards, the worm, holes in the roof, the radio, and the grave. Then he can do whatever he wants with it.

LOL, someone just recently told ManlyBadassHero on his Insanity Remake playthrough that he should play this game too, and then I randomly find it suggested for me. XD

I like how it shows his descent into madness... like. I really like how it goes from 7 to 1 and it'd still make sense if you put it from 1 to 7. In the 7 to 1 countdown it seems like he's calm at first but soon descends into madness and in 1 to 7 he's insane but soon just... lives with it. That's so ominous. I also really like the way he speaks! Sounds like your ordinary dude! Definitely doesn't keep his friend in a grave and grows guts!
