The best thing about this is the contrast between the presenter who sounds like she smokes 60 Benson & Hedges every day and the purity of the singer's voice.
This is the best version of one of if not my ultimate favorite song. Normally I prefer the controlled studio environment that allows us to isolate sounds but once in a while live will blow me away. Hannah and the boys were on point, and whoever sets up the sound for that Italian show is a legit pro and deserves a heap of the credit.
You know, this made me think that there must be a kind of weird, if fleeting, collective realisation in that room when a band performs like that, in that kind of environment - for a few minutes afterwards, the wannabe popstrels, the audience, and the judges must really have a clear sense of how absurd these programmes are, when they are interrupted by the presence of serious talent, the kind that makes people stop what they're doing and be transfixed (as I was). This kind of power, arrangement, delicacy, and sheer musical heft simply cannot be manufactured, and will always find its audience without artificial help. Just brilliant.
This live performance is out of this world. The band is always great, her talent is always amazing, and this song is always beautiful, but there is just something special about this performance that makes me listen to it over and over and over, almost crying. It's perfect. Better than all the other versions. Her voice just blows you away. She looks like a model, too. Doesn't matter, though. Just close your eyes and escape the madness of this world. Thank you, Hannah Reid and London Grammar, you're a gift to this world.
I think that the producers, of the talent show, messed up big time when booking this small, unknown British band. Absolutely love the faces of the contestants, I'm sure they're all thinking "its time to go back to my day job" "this woman has real talent, something I can never achieve"
Despite possessing movie star beauty, Hannah Reid never allows her looks to detract from her voice. She never forces her audience to choose between their eyes and their ears when she sings, choosing, more confidently, to rest the burden of success as a performer on her golden vocal cords, instead of her golden hair, and allowing her fans to fall in love with her talent without requiring them to fall in love, first, with her beauty. While she could succeed on looks alone, as many other, less gifted vocalists have before her, instead, she chooses to appreciate her fan's taste in good music, making it, not her cheekbones, the real star of the stage. This, in addition to her stunning vocals, is what sets her apart from so many other artists and makes her likely a voice we will listen to for many years to come.
I've noticed that. I think she suffers from stagefright too. Although the guitarist and drummer could easily be replaced with session guys, I love the way London Grammar hold themselves together and don't allow that shit to happen, especially of course Hannah. Apart from her obvious brilliance as a singer, I really respect Hannah for keeping it together with her 'band'.
Daughter had to tour the US 2 times before gaining a major following. London Grammar toured part of the US and cancelled the rest of their tour after releasing their first album. I have only witnessed their live performances when visiting the UK. It is an amazing experience. It is probably for the best since some producer has not tried to change their sound to appeal to a more American audience like what happened to Chvrches.
I feel the same. I can’t believe they are that good. Hannah is in a league of her own. Just an amazing young woman. And to think this is live in front of an audience............
im just doing the opposite of what people does to blacks by being afraid of offending them, there is a wave of anti white sentiment from many people , and im going against that wave.
Back, white or brown - regardless, great vocals like this transcend skin colour or even gender. Just enjoy beautiful brilliance without having to define it.
When Hannah is struggling to sing at her obviously un-earthly level of excellence you can see the pain in her face (see other live recordings), she doesn't hide it well. That's why it was so nice to see at 3:57 her smile with an almost cheeky grin, like yeah I know I just blew everyone out of their seats.
My 20 plus years service to King and Country provided a chance to hear many forms of music in more then a few lands. Some were precious respites from blistering hot sand or freezing ice in the Velds of Cold war Europe. Music soothes the brain form the savages of war and the aftermath of disaster! There has NEVER been such hauntingly Ethereal and melodic perfection from the perfect pitch Mezzo-Soprano voice of Hannah Reid! The musical composition of Dan Rothman and Dominic 'Dot' Major is beyond a simple accompanying role. It is the Trio that makes writes and performs such musical manna from heaven. Cheers.
100000% agree that’s why i keep coming back to listen to this performance. It’s not just the stripped down version but also the arrangement of the verse/chorus/bridge sounds way more attractive as well as hannah’s diff melodys she adds. in the studio versions it stays the same throughout without those added gorgeous melodies & now i’ve listened to this version the original sounds kinda boring and repetitive.
I think this is the best vocal performance I’ve seen by Hannah Reid. LG what an incredible talent! Love them, and can’t believe they have any thumbs down… what’s that all about?
and what a comparison with the voice of the host haha :). anyway you gonna like these ones as well: czcams.com/video/on1QEcz1sTI/video.html czcams.com/video/9-w02IwjtEU/video.html
just absolutely smashing it out of the park! What an amazing performance. Hannah has the voice of an angel and everyone who followed them must have felt completely humbled and outclassed.
Whoa, everyone, a lot of negative comments here along the lines of “audience seeing real music for the first time” and denigrating the other musicians. Yes, it’s an X factor style show and probably pretty boring but good for them for inviting London Grammar. as for the other contestants and the judges, ii is unlikely that they are on the same level of talent as London Grammar (just as it is unlikely for anyone to be on that level of talent) but they still have music in their hearts and all I can pick up from their reactions is that they were really into it and as for the boy in white, falling in love with Hannah!
This must be one of the best songs ever written, sung and played live in the best possible way :) :) :) Goosebumbs are rare with music these days, but here ... omg
hahahaha... faces are saying everything... - "looks like I don't have...real talent"... nowadays we have celebrities without any talents... Thank God for London Grammar...
Absolutely great version! And I'm sort of relieved to see that it's not only Dutch audiences who lack the ability to sense when clapping along is appropriate or not lol.

Beautiful song from an incredibly beautiful young lady...................oh and also, does anyone else think the host sounds like an Italian Marge Simpson?
Saw her 7 years ago at the afternoon program of Southside festival, playing at 2 pm - in a plain white shirt and jeans and I swear, I've never seen this stage so full of people at this time of the day on a festival saturday. This voice is so pure and beautiful
What a performance, outstanding. Outstanding musicians,London Grammar. The contestant's and judges look blown away by their performance. Thanks for sharing, Grazie mille
In the fake plastic world of an Italian glitter show with barbie dolls of all ages and boys who spend an hour every morning before the mirror checking their fabulous hair, appears the true, authentic beauty of Hannah Reid and her angelic voice...
This is the best version of this song. Even better than the album version. Hannah is awesome here and Dan's guitar playing is world class. Dot, you're also the best! I can't believe I just discovered you guys!
Iam from Uganda. Its 2024. Just discoverd this band and m in love. Actually obsessed with the music. What an Angelic voice! OMG❤
🔥🙏🏻
Who else listening to this song in 2023
Damn straight, LG doesn’t get old.
@@Johnthemanc22you lost?
2023? You could move the 3 in front and people will still be listening to this because music like this is timeless
2024 and smoothly going
Always wind up back here...
When she sang this song in St. Petersburg, birds chirped in the background during the chorus. ^_^
I love how spiky hair goes from mildly amused at 0:58 to stupefied at 02:38
Shout out to the sound tech.
Why are they not extremely famous? This beautiful woman's voice touches the soul every time!
Because there r 2 many idiots out there...
Now they are…
@@AntoineB1975 They were 3 years ago as well... He just didn't notice.
They're not famous because she refuses to sexualise herself. Respect to her for maintaining her dignity unlike most pop stars.
The best thing about this is the contrast between the presenter who sounds like she smokes 60 Benson & Hedges every day and the purity of the singer's voice.
This lady has a fantastic voice and the group are great
My son told me about the group and I thank my lucky stars that he
did I'm Hook.
Fantastic
This comment made my day 😂
Hahaha
Yeah, really! And the taste of those 60 Cigarettes she washes down with two to three bottles of Johnnie Walker
👍🏼 😎
When Hannah sings, the earth's rotation slows.
Nah the sun 🌞 moves around us.
It does slow ! Not many humans can do that ... Well done. How did you find this ...
I feel this same
It's flat

The fact that she sounds even better live is mind blowing .. what an absolute pleasure that was and what a talent !
Pure class
Amen... 😇
for real it's better than the official audio
Fantastic live at Glasgow last summer as they toured with Coldplay; unbelievable day ❤
Sound was filtered and autotuned and edited... how can you not hear that?
Found London Grammar for the first time tonight. I'm a fan!
and that was the moment that young Edward scissorhands turned his back on his dreams of having a pop career, and became a hedge trimmer!
And that ladies and gentlemen is how it’s done ✅

So true, she is just on another plain..you have put it in a nutshell.
As in Jethro Tull?
It would be like performing at a concert after the band Queen.

You are absolutely right!!
Some live sessions are like that. We also have to credit this italian audience.
I keep coming back too! It's a wonderful proformance indeed
Gives me chills how good it is
AGREED! I keep coming back to this version. It's stellar!
Who else is here in 2020 still loving this song
I have traveled to the U.K. to see them twice. They are amazing live.
Just stop that trend for shits sake
i will still hear them 20,21,22,23,.....
good music dont have age!!!
me, from Johannesburg
This is the most beautiful performance I have ever heard and seen.
It's just so good. I love this band
I know this group since their beginning. They are talented and Hannah's voice is simply captivating.
Absolutely incredible hey
The audience are utterly entranced. They are showing the most respect I have ever seen for a performance in my life.
three humans, three instruments - beautiful
No hype, non angst, no competitive bull.
Just beautiful
David Boson A true shining light in the bleak and depressing times we live in today. If only more 'pop' music was this inventive and original...
Not to mention this woman's voice is one of the best I've ever heard! So beautiful.
Yes please no fights.
I’d love to agree, apart from the pre programmed backing track.
This performance would stand up in any time frame , thousands of years future or past .
It’s just so good I can’t stop listening. And it’s live which is just more impressive! 2023 London Grammar going strong.
I'm glad I'm not the only 1
Literally possibly the best live vocal performance a human could execute.
Shut it down. Everybody can go home now. Shut it down, the show ended right there.
I think that the producers, of the talent show, messed up big time when booking this small, unknown British band.
Absolutely love the faces of the contestants, I'm sure they're all thinking "its time to go back to my day job" "this woman has real talent, something I can never achieve"
I don't know if they messed up or if it was a stroke of genius.....hard to say...
Far from unknown...
Haha, spot on! Brilliant ;)
And Hannah Reid thought she was not a good enough singer when Dot and Dan asked her to join their university band!!!
Despite possessing movie star beauty, Hannah Reid never allows her looks to detract from her voice. It was actually strange to see her with makeup on in this (or at least, more striking makeup than usual)!

What are you talking about she's adored in the US.
I pretty much cry everytime I hear her sing.
Because they haven't sold their souls.....😁
Just been listening to “rooting for you” what a lovely song
At 3:35 the young girl looks at Hannah and realises “fuck , how am I ever gonna be this good”

For a metal head the last thing I expected was to come across a song like this and absolutely adore it. Speechless....

Ppl say the music today sucks. Well they arnt listening to this . This is epic music that stands up to all time .I will be listening to this for yrs
Two of the most contrasting voices I've ever heard
This is what true talent looks and sounds like!
Then you have someone like Taylor swift who is considered 'better '.smdh
Her voice is so enchanting that honestly I feel a slight tear in my eye everytime I watch this performance (at least once a week).
Me too
It has exactly that affect ....truly outstanding performance
Wow. Don't tell anyone 🎉
I think I've watched it 50 times, and I still look forward to the next one.
