Meng 1/35 T-72B3M Complete Build Part 1: Construction

- I build the Meng 1/35 scale T-72B3M with reactive armor and give my impressions of the kit. The kit features innovative designed individual link tracks and the turret modifications and reactive armor applied to the upgraded B3M series T-72.
I just got this kit as well and am in the process of building it. The T72-B3M is the post 2017 modernization version of the T-72 and they are literalyl built in factory new. They have a new engine, new sights and thermals. New gun that can fire the newest ammunition. It basicaly was designed roughly near the same time as the orginal M1 Abrams and Leopard 2, but like both of those tanks have gone through a bunch of upgrades.
Interesting, I was thinking they were a 2016 rebuild but I'm not an expert by any means.
@@SPSteve to be fair they aren't as modernised as the latest Abrams and Leopards are, but the are kind of a stop gap since they decided to stop buying T-90s amd desided on upgrading the T-72 to the B3, and then the B3M (also called B4 sometime). I'm actually not sure if they are built "completely new" as the base hull and base turret are the same as the T-72 built in the 80s. It's a cool looking tank though, no doubt.

@@crazygmanssimstuff they are not new no, simply upgraded, although ofc most of the Pre 2022 fleet are destroyed so now we see a lot Obr.2022 models

This kit is a lot better made than the Tamiya ones i used to build back in the 80s.
It is a really good kit.
I have started building this exact kit and I am assembling the track links now. I am very impressed with the kit supplied tracks. Just a bit time consuming but overall, really pleased. The instructions call for eighty-one (81) individual links per side and I am glad you pointed that out. It takes the guess work out for me. I believe that you glued the torsion bars in place on the inside of the hull. Is that correct? If so, the suspension will still be able to move (articulate) for uneven groundwork? This is what I am wanting to do with mine.
I thought the tracks were excellent as well. I assembled the torsion bars per the instructions and I took advantage of the movable suspension when I mounted the model on my display base.
Hi Steve, how do ??? I've not been on or done any videos for a bit on here ! So I've not picked up or seen any, ?any folks projects ! I think I have a Zvezda 1/35th flavoured T90 ! It's not the original kits that Zvezda released but I'm thinking it was around the 2018 perhaps older !!! But it looks a great build and kit !! I saw this released and thought it looked great ! Politics aside, the machine, wow !! This project of yours is great and thanks for sharing ! Very good of you to not only build but to also record and share with us !! ! . I have a fewje projects all thought out and all bar 2 on paper now !!!!!

Yes they do. The tracks in the kit are very good.
@@SPSteve thank you I am about to buy the t-90 with dozer and the t72 b3m but is it do able ? I builded the trumpeter t-90 and it was pretty hard to build but would you think I can build this with a little bit of experience I have ? I haven’t made a lot of tanks only 13
@@phillipsterling8447 The T-72B3M was my 17th kit, so I don't have much more experience than you. It's a good kit so it builds well. Only you know what your ability level is, but I think most modelers would be able to build the kit without issue.

t-72b3 is a 2016 tank not soviet era... Its like saying a Leopard 2a7 is a west Germany era tank or a F-16 a 70s bird lol. Educate yourself
captured. if you look closely the z symbols have been painted over.
