I haven't. But just draw a row of 16th notes! and maybe put some gaps in where you feel the groove benefits. That's about it honestly. This track is swung so there's swing here too. There's no 'line' as such it's just following the root notes of the chord. Anything specific you're struggling with? I never made a video because I didn't think there was much to explain but that happens a lot when you've done something a million times haha.

Hi Ben, What happens if you revoice the third note? Can you still make it a suspended chord or should you only implement this technique when the third note remains in its normal place? I guess the same question applies to the root note of the chord since you moved that down one as well. Would love it if you did another example of this technique. This was awesome, thank you so much! If by "third" note you mean the top 🕐 of a normal triad. (The 5th above the root) You can play with that for sure, but that doesn't make it a suspension , that term is only used when the 3rd (above the root) is displaced. Changing the 5th to a 6th will technically change the chord to chord 6 , just inverted with the root at the top. In other words it's no longer an altered chord (like suspended) because those notes exist in another chord. Hope that makes sense. If not, let me know I'll make a video

Also could you show your voice sidechain settings that you use on your videos? It sounds so radioish. Like that. I have tried to do that on my amateur podcasts but couldnt figure it out correct radioish settings. Thank you.
Hey thanks! I do the side chain in the video editor (davinci) but it's basically just aiming for 12db reduction on the music track (I have a 4:1 ratio set but that will depend on your voice) and have it set to release after 1.2 seconds ish. The sm7b mic certainly helps with the 'radio' it's an og broadcast mic that one.
Yes the bass is playing 6 4 1 7. The 7 can be thought easiest as a passing note/chord yes. But if you want to get technical 😂, it spends equal time on 7 as other notes so it wouldn't normally be seen as a passing chord, instead it can be argued to be full chord movement as some of the riff contains both chord 5 and 7th extension of chord 1, so the 7 in the bass can also be described as either an inversion of chord 5 or chord 1 7th! Regardless, it sounds cool, the description is purely academic. As for deep house , the progression 1 7 6 4 or 1 7 6 5 is very common for that vibe

You the shifting bass is nice but the explanation doesn't satisfy me. Just showing something and bringing no rules for that. Feels like joining math class when the teacher just hadn't a clue what he was talking about. When he reproduced stuff of the book. Pitty. Sorry but I had to be honest.
