    man, you nailed it on how people don't want to use it. I have to say something like, "i need to break this ball in, lets use it" or "nah, we're playing with this ball" or "let shoot for the ball" literally for the ball to play with. hahahaha.

    • @Love2Hoop

      Oh yeah I've definitely shot for what ball we're gonna use. Sometimes I win, then the next game they switch right back to the evolution no matter what. I had to start using my evolution again to get used to the weight and feel of it.

      @@Love2Hoop I bring two balls to the gym all the time. The Wilson nba ball and varieties of composite balls. That way I can get used to both type of leather balls; no excuse if my game suck😂. BTW, I noticed small tear through out the grooves on your basketball, the same happened mine. I think it started around 3 months of used. Whatever the material Wilson used for that grooves is not good.

      @@Love2HoopSame here. I had to go buy an Evo NXT, because I refuse to buy an Evo, so I could get more use to playing with the Evolution. They’re scared to death to play with the real basketball’s. And the people I run with won’t let me run with it anymore because I start killing them.

    I have the Spalding official nba basketball and I have had it for about 2 years now and yes at first it was a pain to shoot with and even a pain to dribbles the ball. But now the basketball is FULLY broken in and the ball is a dark brown almost black color and I love it! The smoothness of the ball and the touch and bounce back the ball has is unmatched, and even when new people grab the spalding official nba basketball they always say man was this ball made in the 90’s lol. You don’t see to many of the official nba game balls around

    I just picked this ball up as a Christmas gift for myself. I bought it knowing the complaints (plastic feel, tough, slippery) and out of the box that’s how it felt. Shooting around I can tell it’s going to be fantastic once it breaks in. The swish sounds like someone is cutting the net with a katana sword. Can’t wait until I get the dark chocolate color on it. I prefer to shoot around and do drills on my own when the court is empty so I don’t care if anyone else wants to use it!

    • @Love2Hoop
      @Love2Hoop  Před 5 měsíci +1

      One thing I want you to take notice of is see how you shoot with an Evolution after going through your drills with the NBA official. You might end up shooting better becuase the control is so much easier going from the NBA ball to evolution.

  • @ja23productionz58
    @ja23productionz58 Před rokem +8

    I shoot/train from very deep. One thing I noticed is how my body seems to have two different releases for both leather and composite basketballs. I wonder if it’s the weight or panels. It takes an adjustment period going back to either type of ball. Within 24 feet I don’t really notice it as much, even though I can still feel the difference. I can’t really tell which type of basketball I shoot better with, as both have their pros and cons. When you master the leather basketballs, shooting can be fun, easy, effortless, and consistent. But it has taken me a few months this year to adjust. I feel fully adjusted now 5 months in. The other basketballs just feel so familiar and easy. Everyone hates the leather basketballs. I do think they’re more difficult to shoot with. And you have to warm them up a bit to get that grip.

    • @Love2Hoop
      @Love2Hoop  Před rokem +7

      This is the type of comment that almost merits a full video breakdown to discuss. I couldn't agree with you more, and that's part of the reason why I had to go back to an Evolution because going from a full leather basketball back to a composite is a real big change. I felt like the weight of the Evolution made all shots more difficult, the ballhandling took more energy, and it seemed like the ball was a weight vs. a tool to use in the game. I HAD TO pin this to the top!

    I have the Spalding NBA ball and I love it. I played with the Wilson NBA for the first time a few weeks ago when my friend got one and I felt a difference compared to the Spalding ball when it was brand new! The Wilson ball had a better bounce whereas the Spalding was bouncing at different directions lol I’m definitely going to cop the Wilson ball really soon 👌🏽

    • @Love2Hoop
      @Love2Hoop  Před rokem +4

      Though made from the same materials, the basketballs are definitely different. I'm bouncing the Spalding right now and it feels like a perfectly symmetrical sphere. The Wilson feels a little bigger than size, but once you use that basketball for at least 30 min its hard to go to something else.

      @@Love2Hoop mannn EXACTLY. Idk why Wilsons feel so much bigger than Spalding. Even the Wilson Evolution, that most people love playing with for some odd reason, feels huge. I hate it because it doesn’t soak any sweat/moisture whatsoever. Once someone hugs the ball, it’s over. I mostly use the older version of the Spalding TF 1000 Legacy and it feels/grips so much better in hand and is way easier to shoot with.

    I bought this ball simply as a new budding fan of basketball. Been learning from youtube and playing. Mainly been focusing on my shot, which is better nowadays. Been at outdoor courts and finally went to an indoor court today for the first time. Had this ball & after an hour it felt great to use. The weight, the bounce. Perfect. The ball DOES expose your shot though. After a while it forced me to fix my form and after that everything dropped like it should. Played a game using an Evolution & that ball just felt TOO light and soft for me lol gotten so used to the official ball that it’s all i wanna use now.

      You've described almost to a T the experience of owning and using this basketball. Kudos for you to pick up this ball as a growing fan, but you found real quick how this ball exposed your shot. That's probably why so many guys don't like using it, but to your credit you HAVE TO put in the time with this ball to understand why people who like it love it. Going from this ball to an Evolution is such a hard transition, going to the EVO makes more sense weight-wise but it's still tough. Appreciate the comment champ, frfr

      @Love2Hoop  Před 3 měsíci

      It's almost a night and day difference between the two. Brand new it's a strange basketball, even after the break in period it's a little odd. But there's a point where the surface is smoothed out and even that the basketball plays very well.

    I got the Spalding but I'm getting this one once I get an indoor court. I love using the leather ball, it feels like it helps fine tune my shot, like I can really make it roll off the right finger and feel where my shot is broke. Sadly I need to play outdoors currently, but I'm using a Wilson outdoor ball that's pretty decent.

      I can't think of too many scenarios where this basketball would be used outside. Jake I’m gonna lay it out for you but of course I’m going to over explain each 😂 1. Spalding nba official basketball (when broken in). This is a shooters basketball through and through.
      2. Nike Elite 8p: If there was a shooting contest and this was the ball you had to use, if you trust your shot you’re good. The feel of it is one of the softest on the market, liked but college players rarely but randoms.
      3. Wilson NBA official: This is going to be a strange suggestion, but it doesn’t feel the greatest UNLESS a couple things happen. But after shooting with this for 30 min, anything else seems like a chat code.
      4. Baden Elite: I think it feels like an evolution when it’s broken in, but the panels feel a bit wider which helps for better rotation on the ball especially for shooters with great follow through.
      5. Wilson Solution before completely broken in. If completely worn in then I’ll keep it at five but that feeling when you first get it before it’s broken in you could put that at the number 4 spot.

    I actually cant shoot as good with the wilson evo, Baiden, TF1000, balls as good as the Spalding NBA ball. I regularly play with the NBA ball and i love it! I shoot the lights out. When i switch to my evo, i still can shoot, but its not as consistant. It doesnt have the feel. It doesnt have the perfect bounce when i dribble. I havent played with the new NBA ball yet. Im gonna buy it and see whats up.

    Bro my ball has almost identical usage marks on mine. With a little more fading starting around the nba logo. I literally have to win on the court. Change the ball because I’m the winning team. Wait 2 games for some random player to tell me the ball is fake and blah blah. People complain because it’s not soft like the evo or nxt. I tell them a story how they don’t know anything about basketball. Win the next game and repeat. This ball can be a battle to get quality games in so I know the struggle. I recently got the new Spalding TF leather ball. Haven’t opened it yet but I think I bit off more then I could chew.

    • @Love2Hoop

      That TF reads like the original Spalding so you might be in store for a good basketball. But yeah that's usually the only times I get to use that ball: I start the first game and check the ball at the top WITH the NBA ball. OR plead to use the ball first game, win the first game, then plead again, second game in a row we're changing because they believe the change might get us to lose. Otherwise we never use it 🤣😂

      @Love2Hoop  Před 9 měsíci +1

      A lot of it is price and feel @@Glow0110 I would compare the Evolution to an automatic vs the NBA ball being a manual transmission. Using a manual is tougher, but once you figure it out driving is more fun, you save on gas, and it makes driving anything else much easier. Composite leather is designed to feel like a perfectly broken in basketball all the time. It's already been treated in a way that makes it good to go right away whereas an NBA ball takes time to get to that point. Even when the ball is broken in, you still need moisture to unlock the true feel of it. You rarely see people wipe off an NBA ball, but any sweat on a composite it's like catching a fish.
