- Testing the NEW Wilson NBA Official Game Basketball that EVERY NBA Player HATES! | I Bought and tested out the new Wilson Official NBA Basketball that all the players hate! | What’s up everyone, today’s video is a special one in testing the newest Official Game basketball of the NBA! For the past 37 years, the NBA’s official ball was made by Spalding but the 37 years prior to that, it was made by Wilson and now it’s back to Wilson! How did it test out? And just an fyi, all the balls are broken in prior to games or use in practice. They NEVER use them straight out of the box. It takes a long time to break in a leather basketball.

NBA balls usually take 3-5 months of daily play in nba practices before they game-ready. They can take up to 6-12 months for the average person to break in. They do change color and the feel changes dramatically. If you look at an nba game ball, whether on eBay or from pics in real life, they look like sh**. They’re usually scuffed, scratched, and everything.
As a shooter, I don’t really believe any ball is inherently better for shooting than another. I think we just become more accustomed to certain balls (ayo) and so when a new one comes we have to change our muscle memory slightly.
Most NBA players never want to play with a composite leather ball like the Wilson evolution, and most average hoopers never want to ball with anything but an evolution (or previously Spaulding TF-1000).

I agree with everything you saying. I have 3 of the Spalding NBA balls and only 1 truly broken in and there is a Major difference between all 3. I’ve had the Wilson Ball and it was a lot better out of the box. Haven’t broken it in yet but it’s getting there. Also with any leather ball you have to get it sweaty and they only get better the more games you play. Once you play leather composite just doesn’t do it.
I think personally for shooting the nike elite balls are better than most, but i’m getting an evo ball so i’ll try it out

Break it in first....took me a few months with the spading ball, but it's great now.

@@JBossDaBanger They do bro, it takes time and your effort to get it broken in. Wet yours hands with water nd dribble it and repeat when your hands dry up from the ball soaken the water in, helps breaks in faster. Moisture is what the ball needs to soften the leather so it can have more grip, just takes your effort to get it to that point.
@@JBossDaBanger it does, i had got an official spalding nba ball for my birthday in 2018 and it fucking sucked the first 2 months until it started to break in, 4 years later the ball is perfect lol
It becomes better as the ball gets beat up due to constant use. 🙂

Once it breaks in after a couple months the shit is amazing ! Since their new most of them haven’t been broken in yet. Just like the Spaulding. When I got mines it was ass until it was broken in !

You have to break in the leather ball. But the Spalding leather ball is perfection when it’s broken in. I have both and I’d rather use the Spalding.
I like the bounce of the Spalding far better than the Wilson. Even the new Model M from Spalding has that identical perfect snappy bounce that the NBA ball had. The Wilson to me is great, except for the sluggish return bounce, even at 9 psi. Sometimes you just don't know where it's going to go. A shame because I like the ball aside from that, but still think the Spalding NBA (U code ball) beats it out.

Honestly if you don't mind paying 50$ every few years, I would recommend the Wilson evolution as it work pretty well outside even though it's a indoor ball

Not to question y’all’s intelligence but this is literally the SAME BALL as the Spalding Ball. Same manufacturer and material. The only difference is the brand of the ball. Because Wilson doesn’t MAKE the balls, they sponsor them. The company that made the basketballs for Spalding are still making them but for Wilson.

Spalding started manufacturing basketballs in 1876. Wilson in 1946.
Wilson makes great footballs, but I think Spalding edges them out on basketballs.

Spalding just feels better overall
For me the Spalding bounces better. The Wilson has a sluggish and flatter return bounce even overinflated to 9 psi.

@@teo10s I have all three balls now the evo next Wilson evolution and the nba ball and honestly I haven’t used any outside and wouldn’t plan to. I’ve used others evolutions outside and tbh it wasn’t bad jus damages the ball much quicker. But if I were to choose one for outdoor I think the evo next would be the best suited hope that helps
