- Here's some more fantasy hair for men! The third and final chapter of the Hobbit trilogy just released, so here's a video for how to do Thorin, Kíli, and Fíli's hair from the movies. Three more videos for the rest of the dwarves are coming soon.

I know that half of the dwarves have really ridicoulus hairstyles, but I really want to thank you for making tutorials for them. I am really curious how Dori's hair is done, and maybe one day I'll braid mine like that xD

my hair is extremely curly and if I put any braids in it (even Elvish inspired hair), my bff tells me I look like a The Hobbit dwarf, so I love to do stuff like this!
That reminds me that I got my hair straighten and braided a few months ago at the beauty salon. I requested to have some beads on it and my brother and cousin told me I looked like an elf.

I was Kili for Halloween, once. It was a homemade costume. I remember that Kili's hairstyle was easy, at least the way I did it. I looked a lot like Kili while I was in costume! I still have the props and the costume I made, with my dad, for Kili.

I love these! I started fangirling the second I saw this! I love the fili and kili style but thorins doesn't really work on me cause I have thick, curly hair. Anyway, these are so awesome!!
well actually thorin had 4 strand braids, but yeah, it's good to see where the strands come from for a beginner

I've seen a few of the newer videos before this one and used the one of Daenerys half updo bun as an inspiration for a full updo. But as my hair is at least as long as yours in this video and thicker as well, creating waves the way you describe it is out of question. The hair would never completely dry. Lace braiding towel dry hair as a crown around my head ensures a drying time up to 72 hours. The waves will then only last about 3 hours max. The sheer weight and force of gravity just always straightens them out. 😭

Love this!! You explain everything so well, and the styles are perfect! Why do you use a Dutch braid to make your hair wavy? Does it work better than a french braid?

Same, I got my hair cut when 3 years ago and have been waiting for it to grow out. I had it cut to shoulder length. It's oddly not growing out all that much sadly. But I can still do these hairstyle. Now that I think about, I did it cut half an inch about 3 months ago.

Hey there! First of all: Great video!!! I really enjoyed it. But i have a littkle question... where did you get the button from (Thats thing in "Kilis"hair)?? I searched for hours and couldn't find anything!
It was just a random button from a sewing stash. Look for ornate coat buttons or something like that and you'll find similar.

Thorn's braids are actually not the normal English braids, they're a four-strand braid that comes out looking like a chain made by taking one outside strand and threading it under the two in the middle, then back over the second. Repeat the pattern on the other side; outside under two middle then back over one. He's the only dwarf to use that style of braid.

I was watching Battle of the Five Armies today (again!) and noticed that Thorin's braids look like more of a 4-strand braid than a 3-strand braid. Any chance of a tutorial on how to do the 4-strand?

Man, this REALLY makes me want to grow my hair out longer! Unfortunately I have have very thick and frizzy hair and it's really difficult to get it to cooperate with any styling, with is why I have almost always worn it short. Any advice?
I also have very thick hair and it used to be super frizzy until I started using organic all natural bar shampoo. I love it it makes my hair really nice I dont even use conditioner cause my hair is so sleek.
I just tried pulling my hair back like Kili, simplest one here. I'm not good at that. I don't have any hair elastics in my vicinity, other than a full-sized hair tie, or I would have tried Thorin's... I'd love to do Legolas one day, but none of the girls in the family want to braid my hair... Wish I was in Middle-earth...
