The weird thing is, even trying to explain it feels weird because it's such learned response from years and years of Mario Kart games. After that, just learning the tracks for shortcuts and such is what you will need to beat actual people. Also people keep mentioning purple sparks, but I don't remember that being a thing in Mario Kart 8 unless it was added in later, or if it's a tour thing.
