👍 Nice review of an excellent knife.
I agree with your Pros on this knife, especially your comments on the handle. I do very much like the dual grind of the blade.
I believe the Mora Garberg is over rated. It is heavy and doesn’t have as nice a handle. I have done everything with the Kansbol I have done with the Garberg. Full tang knives are nice, but certainly not essential if the partial tang knife is properly made.
Knives are made for cutting & slicing. If you anticipate needing to make small sticks out of really big sticks you should have a hatchet/axe or a saw.
If a short fishing trip unexpectedly becomes on overnight or multiple day adventure due an emergency the Kansbol will do everything you need a cutting tool to do to survive. Remember, the Scandinavian people have lived in harsh environment for Centuries with small partial and full length stick tang knives.
We should not allow ourselves to be victimized by the “survival” school of product marketing. Get quality tools, learn how to use them effectively, be smart about your environment and don’t get caught unprepared.
Knowledge and a Kansbol will serve you better than all the so-called “survival” knives marketed to the general public. Oh, heck, a Buck 110 and knowledge would serve you better.

That is a great outdoor's knife. And yes, you can but ton with it. Because I have done it and hiked all over the place. Fantastic knife, it's it is a great option between price and quality.

Good video! I'm a fan of the Kansbol. While the survival kit is designed to stay put, you actually can remove it, but it takes some doing. Tapping on the edge of a table should do it. You can also use the inside of the leather belt loop to strop the edge. Oh, and there's actually a red version of the Kansbol, but you can only get that on Mora's web site, and it's more expensive. I noticed that browsing their site the other day.

Nice review! I believe the thing with the sheath is that they are indeed the same, but the survival kit is only meant to go on once. So fits both as they are the same, but supposedly extremely hard to get back off. I thought I remember someone doing it but can't remember the video.

I’ve come to that conclusion as well. All good though, if I want to carry the survival kit with the Garberg I just use the Kansbol sheath. Works perfectly!

I really like Mora, I just looked and counted ten of them. I have both garbergs, stainless and black carbon. Two companions both carbon, one thin, one thick. The carbon black plus some of the classics and some carving specific knives plus the eldris. The kansbol is probably my next one.
My spell check is redlining some of my words but I think most can figure out my statement.

Very cool! I love them as well. I have the Garberg carbon, Kansbol, Eldris, Companion carbon and the 164 sloyd and hook knife. Love the brand. And for the $$$ they are hard to beat!!

I have the Kansbol, really like it, great for lite duty and food prep, I use it as a backup knife, except for the Garberg most of my Moras are a backup knife although I believe them to be good also for a survival kit

Just pull down on the survival kit hard, it will pop off. So will the plastic ring with the leather loop attached

  • @ryanadventureeverything8758

The sheath is the same as the Garberg. If you want the Survival Kit on the Garberg all you need to do is swap sheaths with Kansbol.
