    Your vlog is awesome. I discovered it only last week, but thank you for putting such great quality videos out and at these lower stakes at the Vegas venues that you play. These are exactly where I hope to play this summer! Keep up the great work.

    Dam, this is good stuff, yet again. This is only #3 for you, but for what it's worth, you've quickly become my favorite vlogger. In this episode, i especially enjoyed your thought process throughout your failed J10 off bluff from the BB. Your analysis in this spot appeared to me to be very unique in comparisons to all other vloggers. I yearn for this type of thoughtful expert analysis. I also respect the way you shared your post-game analysis after the session that proved your game-time decision was indeed off. One more comment please -- QQ is my third fave hand too, ha! I eagerly await #4. Thank you.

      Hey, thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far. I’m still diving into the theory with my coach to try and get a grasp on everything while also applying it to live. Mistakes will definitely continue happening 🙂

    That 99 bluff was almost a great bluff IMO, you put him on his exact hand. I think he was pot committed and that's why he didn't fold. If you had check raised the flop (or donk bet), he probably folds. Seems like you had the read even by the flop though that could be hindsight.
    The other bluff was also almost good, it's easy to play yourself into trouble defending blinds. I guess he figured you had enough bluffs in range to make the call viable. Maybe I'm just weak tight but I would have a hard time calling down with nothing but a middling ace!
    With the cards hating you, you did well to only end up down $600.

    • @toddswardenski
      @toddswardenski  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I actually think both were slight overplays. I was certainly surprised to see A-9 of Spades, with no backdoor draws, call all the way down as he beats absolutely nothing other than a stone cold bluff like my own hand. He would even lose to some of my bluffs that follow through on the river. When he bets small on the flop and gets check-raised that hand is usually going to fold, which is why backdoor drawing hands similar to mine make good candidates to go for this. I used the wrong candidate, but I’d do the same play with a backdoor flush version (and the other hands I mentioned with a backdoor flush draw) against that exact same hand and I’d imagine it works at a very profitable frequency. Also, getting caught isn’t awful. It shows I’m capable of bluffing which makes my value combos a lot more money.
      I know I’m folding Jacks in that hand if I’m in his spot, so not exactly sure what his throughly process was lol. Oh well!
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to give me your thoughts!

    New subscriber good content you play nice straightforward game.. I think the only hand that I would question was Raising when you flopped three sixes.. I think I just call there and let him bet the turn again.. like the honesty on that failed Bluff they'll get through sometimes and hopefully make up for the ones that don't but I think you have to be real selective when you do it.. you don't want to be like Rampage an a few of the other vloggers who do it way too often and who are also calling stations and can't fold

    • @toddswardenski
      @toddswardenski  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Edward, apologies for missing your comment a couple weeks ago! I appreciate the feedback and I'm all ears if you have any suggestions to continue looking for ways to improve with each video.
      I can understand the thought process behind check-calling when you're not the preflop aggressor and flop a huge hand, but flopping bottom set is a really great situation to start getting aggressive and going for value in my opinion. Yes, people will fold like they did in that hand, but unblocking all of the strongest top pair or even top two pair (tho probably not likely on AK6 or whatever that flop was) it's likely you can make a lot more money long term by taking the aggressive route.
      Trapping is really only a good idea if you're confident the opponent is capable of running bluffs or betting for thin value, and unfortunately that is not common enough in the live poker player pools. This is the exact reason it's a great idea to find balance with bluffs because they will work plenty often and when you get caught, the value raises will get called more frequently because opponents see that you're willing to take aggression with less than a nutted range of hands.
      Also, I hope you've been able to see my other entries to know I'm not a bluffing maniac 😃

    How have the $2/5 and $5/10 games in Shelbyville been? Have you been there recently?
    I visited a few weeks ago and the games seemed very good comparably to Vegas, so I’m thinking of visiting again for a few days.

  • @mattpitstick6884
    @mattpitstick6884 Před 2 lety

    Were you tilted after you got called by A9 of spades in the one hand? That’s one of the spots that would just really tilt me, and just wondering how you handle situations like that. Because I def need to get better about getting called by a hand that in my opinion shouldn’t even get past the flop.

    • @toddswardenski
      @toddswardenski  Před 2 lety +1

      Not in that exact situation because I was confident at the time that it was a good bluff. I’m certainly prone to my own flavor of occasional tilt, but it usually follows a string of bad decisions like calling river bets that I know are folds deep down.
      It’s just good to keep in mind that in softer games the opponents are making consistent errors and that is where the money is made. That said, adopting the mindset of just rolling with it when someone plays bad and gets lucky is how I’ve avoided tilt in general.
