    For some reason my FTM-300 program has the open function grayed out as well as the upload to SD card function. I can't send anything to SD.

    Hope someone finds this helpful. What I did was read the sd card of my ftm-400 to ADMS-7 then saved the file to my computer. I opened ADMS-12 and selected import from ftm-400 then read to a new sd card formatted in the ftm-300. Took the card out of the computer, inserted it in the radio and read to radio. Worked seamlessly.

    A few questions regarding Yaesu FTM-300: 1) So if one uses an SD card, you do not need the programming cable, right? - 2) What kind of SD card does it have to be and what file system? - 3) Does one need a bluetooth device by Yaesu or do other headsets etc. also work? - 4) How is the receiver sensitivity? Excellent, average, below average? - 5) Can the frequency range be extended easily or only by a hardware mod? ---- Many questions. :-) But I hope, there are people who can give answers to all or most of these questions. --- Many thanks.

      1. If you use the SD card method you will not need to use the cable.
      2. Any SD card will work, SanDisk or Samsung make very nice SD Cards. For file system id have to check on what the programming software exports for the radio to read the files.
      3. I have not used a Bluetooth device but I have come across lists of devices people have tried
      4. For receiver sensitivity I think it'd quite good. Now saying that I also have mine connected to an antenna that's 35 feet up in the air on top of my tower.
      5.As for hardware mod I'm sure if you're tech savvy enough it could be done.

    I have followed the instructions and now my SD card is write protected when I plug it into my computer to add frequencies. I can't reformat it now. It has happened now to 2 SD cards.

    • @VA1MRT
      @VA1MRT  Před 8 měsíci

      The only time I've ever had issues with the cards becoming write protected was when the device it was connected to was not either A shut down properly or B the eject process from the pc wasn't followed to give the safe removal of the card.

    Thank you for this. Can you update your programming download link, and possibly put a link to the correct cable (even though it's not needed, the information might be useful). I would post the link here, but YT doesn't like non-YT links in the comments.

    Thanks for the video, question- do you know what the ‘step’ field does on a memory channel configuration ? This makes no sense to me if you are in memory channel mode. I understand step if you happen to be in vfo mode but what does it do in memory mode?

    • @VA1MRT
      @VA1MRT  Před 2 lety +1

      From what I can tell it has no effect on the memory channel. For example you see the steps the radio takes if you turn the VFO to the particular frequency you desire so when you save that particular frequency into memory the step information is just programmed with it.

    • @VA1MRT
      @VA1MRT  Před 3 lety

      Try and format the SD card in you're PC. I've tried to format from the radio before and it never worked. Then install in the radio so the radio develops the file structure. Remove the SD and install into you're PC. I know if you don't write the memories into the proper file location on the SD card you will get an error. I know I made a mistake the first time I tried and placed the file in the wrong location.

    Do you need an SD card to store memory on this, or just to do by this method?

    • @VA1MRT
      @VA1MRT  Před 2 lety

      You don't need an SD card to store memories into the radio you can do it manually. The information is written into the radios internal memory. After you're done you can always leave the SD card in the radio and if you make any changes you can write that info to the SD card for a backup.
