    I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

    Matt this is exactly what I needed to hear. The bass in my area are post spawn and I gotta learn how to catch fish in deeper water. Thanks again. 😊

    I fished last week and caught nothing all morning, switched to a drop shot and caught a 4, then a 6 then a 8.5, another 4 and finally a 10.2 pound monster! FINALLY caught the 10 pounder!!!! Took 50 years lol.

    Just caught my first dropshot fish with a wacky rigged senko. 3 casts later around laydowns I think I hooked into a striper or catfish. Snapped my 12lb line with ease, partially my fault drag was maxed and I didn’t realize. I’m hooked on the dropshot now lol. That thump on my rod was harder than some 8-10lb channels cats I’ve caught lately.

    For pressured lakes I tied up some drop shot flies, bucktail or marabou, and have done really well with those. Otherwise i wacky rig a brown or green worm with a chartreuse tip most of the time. Need to experiment more with other plastics. Great vids!

    I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. I've been fishing bass for 55 years, and I've never thrown a swim jig, because most of the waters that I fish, (primarily farm ponds) didn't seem conducive to their use. After seeing you throw one so much, I decided I'd been out of the loop long enough. I rigged up a blue and purple with a blue Power Stinger and caught 4 bass today up to about 4 pounds. Thanks Matt!!

    I actually like the the shad impact over the easy shiner on a drop shot most of the time...also makes for a good spinnerbait trailer. Still plenty of use for the easy shiner but I actually like that one more on a flashy swimmer, willowvibe, or on its own with a small weighted ewg...cheers man!

    Great info. My go to drop shot baits are flukes and small tubes. I've also recently started drop shot fly fishing nymphs for rainbows in our northwest rivers.

    My go-to dropshot baits are Aaron’s Pro Shad Roboworm (my two biggest bass on this one), Zman Long Shotz Goby Bryant and of course Morning Dawn Roboworm. I recently tried Berkeley Flat worm in Gobyashi and suddenly caught some that broke up a slow period with three straight catches. They were small though.

  • @secretbassrigs
    @secretbassrigs Před 3 měsíci +6

    Technically, the Roboworms are poured, but not by hand. They're actually "poured" by robotics. That's why they're so detailed and consistent while also super soft like hand pours.

    Great video Matt. I like all of your choices and would be happy just fishing them.
    I would add a curly tail worm by Roboworm or the 4 inch power worm….once the water warms up I think curly tails get more bites than straight tail worms. Something off the wall is the Nikko Tadpole….we have had 100 fish days on that thing. I know you weren’t impressed but the OSP Dice gets bites of all sizes for us.

    Definitely hard to beat drop shot or power shot. Flatworms , small swimbaits, minnow baits, some of zman floating baits along with any worms from small to large.

    Hey Matt….great stuff!! You didn’t mention what type of hook you use for the flat worm and roboworm. I’m guessing the rebarb hook??!! Didn’t you come in second place two years ago using the flat worm on a drop shot…I remember that video. Thanks as always for sharing your tips!! 🍻🍻

    I think I have caught more smallmouths on the St. Lawrence with the max scent flatworm than anything else. I have tried many others, and they just can't seem to let these go bye. Going to try that rob worm morning dawn the next trip up in August. Thanks for the tip

      @@MattStefanFishing great, thanks. I had assumed longer leader due to the shallow line angle, to get it off of the bottom a bit more and give a little working room. Hadn’t considered lower weight. Thanks again.

    No, you need that FB tiny creature bait. You also need CA worms. Western techniques require Western worms. Also, flat stuff like LPT stuff is key.
