- Antarctica. The most inhospitable place on earth. The last frontier. The dream.
How could I possibly describe this experience when even video couldn't fully capture the majesty and scale of this place.
Antarctica is home to only temporary research stations, with zero full time inhabitants, and is the coldest, driest and windiest place on earth. It is also teeming with life.
I got extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to go on this once in a life-time trip to the Antarctica. I was also lucky to be able to go on what is called an "Expedition Ship", which is limited to less than 200 people. While typically not as "luxurious" as the big cruise ships, the massive advantage that these types of boats have is that with less than 200 people on board we were all able to get out and do two excursions per day, whether that was doing landings and exploring the land, or doing zodiac cruises and getting up close with a variety of life, we were always doing and experiencing something.
First you must spend two days crossing some of the roughest seas in the world, the Drake Passage. if you're lucky you get a Drake lake, and if not the Drake shake. I got both. Once there it is time to explore. From Penguins (Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie) to seals, whales, orcas and a plethora of different types of birds, the wildlife and the chance to get up close was incredible.
A very big thank you to Intrepid Tours, Michael McCrudden, and most importantly Chris Scerri!

Fantastic footage Ken! What an experience.. Thanks for sharing it with us! 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching! It really was incredible, met or exceeded expectations
Hi Ken. That was a fantastic end to the trip and not a bike in sight. Stunning work with the camera/editing mate.
Cheers Mike! Glad you enjoyed it 😉. We aren’t done yet though mate
The penguin stance is why I always flip my collar up.... some say I'm G.Q. - others say I'm part penguin... oh you can tell by the way the penguin walks, no time to talk... don dime a donk... somethin' somethin' sometin' stayin' alive.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I will get there by December next year
I completed my US to Panamá ride already
I wish you luck!
Amazing, it’s my dream to go there too, how much did the cruise cost ya if you don’t mind mme asking
Ahhh, I got very very lucky and got on as a family member of a person on the crew: I couldn’t have afforded to go otherwise!
