  • Hey house lovers and explorers! This video we take a look through 3 dwellings with the first being a classic and very stylish 1953 built home displaying all the typical styles of the era including nods to the waterfall and art deco trend. The home has a large 60`s time capsule granny flat that is bigger than most units for sale! An in ground pool at the front to show case that money was no object back in the day along with a tennis court which separates it from the 3rd dwelling being a late 50`s/early 60`s home although with the contemporary low roof built of that period and features seen in both late 50`s and early 60`s. In fact the 3rd home is quite unique inside as you will see due to originality and quirky alterations.
Situated on a prestigious part of Anzac highway this entire lot is currently being demolished. Anzac highway has always been admired for it`s beautiful and classy homes as you drive between Glenelg and the city but over the last 6 years I have been documenting old homes Anzac hwy unfortunately has been decimated by developers putting up high density living units.
I hope you all enjoy the explore, cheers for watching :-)

Another lovely home hitting the dust. A.N.Z.A.C. highway has a lot to answer for... Busting down the old school to rebuild many more to a block. The local council rubs hands together more money to take in. I drive this road often and am saddened to see this happen too often. Thanks for sharing Cheers MM :)

Every time I drive down Anzac Highway which is only a couple of times a year I look enviously at these beautiful homes wishing they were mine. Every suburb in Adelaide is becoming unrecognisable with the same happening in all of them. What a shame that Adelaide is loosing these homes to have these ugly boxes crammed onto these large blocks of land, large trees ripped out, lovely gardens removed to be replaced with small patches of concrete. What's that doing to our environment, it's no good protesting about mining coal etc. think about what we are loosing around us. Thanks Paul for recording this special part of history so our grandchildren can look back dream.

Wouldn't it be interesting to know something about the past residents of this fabulous house? I'm imagining a professional father or maybe highly succesful business man. A stepford type wife and kids that went to expensive private schools. Holidays would be flying off to exotic destinations. This was an affluent family''s home.

Yes I think it was certainly someone who ran their own business. A picture of golfers. Although I know in those days it was more about shaking hands with the right people that got you ahead. Belonged to certain clubs. I know this through my own relatives. I grew up in QLD in the 70s before returning to the UK. Maybe not such a stepford wife. Someone liked their reflection with all the mirrors. Perhaps wasn't her. Always a mystery with these homes who they were. We can imagine too much at times. Although it is fun. Cheers.

🌟Hi Paul, wow what a treat three homes in a row, the first home very nice I see why they put the pool out the front no room out the back! would have been nice for a dip. It was certainly like a mini mansion. The stairway to heaven upstairs was quite big nice real estate photos. They certainly went all out with the mirrors I agree a bit much! Thank you for the walk down memory lane ! I,m now rural SA, but grew up- Enfield/Born 1950 and visited a lot of my parents friends-some of whom lived on Anzac Hwy. It was considered quite 'posh' back in the 60's,. "Progress' and time has taken that away. I remember vividly, the earthquake in the 2nd half of the 50's, which then resulted in a lot of the cracking evident in these old houses.

I am getting to feel ill now your videos coming up when i see them - its just gut wrenching. Im gutted that house is going. ALtho there is one like like on the corner of Anzac Hwy and Stonehouse Ave, next to the group of units, where a dentist bought it and extended it in sympathy. Weve been here for over 25 years and we are seeing more and more much loved homes going down..its breaking our hearts. But your videos are so important to keep the memory alive and for us to see finally what they all looked like inside. Sorry - but there is no need for this re-zoneing of Anzac Hwy as a "transport high density corridor". We here in Plympton park, at thte cornoer of Cross Rd and Marion Rd, have historic homes and we are fighting tooth and nail ppl who buy in and want to re-develop...some dont succeed - some do, depending on what street theyre on. But seeing all the majestic homes go is breaking our hearts!

The Craftsmanship is incredible, the thought of it being reduced to rubble is sad

    Bonjour d'Occitanie (France)

The only houses I've have seen in Adelaide with that many mirrors, it's always Italians. It's like a way to display their wealth or whatever.

It’s pretty sad really that these homes are lost forever, never to be seen again. I detest developers because they are in it for the money not the heritage. They are scum in my books and I wish they would go away. They are doing this all around Australia and it’s a terrible loss. Much love from Newcastle

Is the house for sale ?
What are they asking for it ?
I'd restore the property and put an in ground pool in where the tennis court was.
    Love the property ❤
