I like how Salem isn't a thing and that Grimm don't answer to anyone. That volume 3 reveal was dumb. The villain should have just been Cinder, who's using Grimm for her own purposes. Sort of like how a terrorist would release a contagion in a crowded metro. I guess in Alt she would be Anicist cult leader, trying to start conflict and disrupt the world order to let Grimm in and punish humanity for their sins. Which would be a more interesting motive than "I wanna be a Maiden, I wanna I wanna I wanna!"
Its even dumber if Cinder of all people was somehow able to magically control the Grimm despite her being a relatively normal person, yet no body else was able to. Her trying to fuck the world over for the lulz is just plain stupid, since that would serve no purpose, to anyone, and not even herself, like changing her motivations to make her an even more one dimensional character, and a bad rip off of an already existing character does not in anyway improved said character.

It being a trope doesn't somehow make it any less bland. Don't know either of those villains, but the only time in which it isn't that bad is either if that character is just entertaining to watch, compelling in some other way, or if the world/ humanity/ society actually did wrong them, or if they just actually have a reason for their nihilistic world view. It isn't better at all and that's makes no sense, it's actually *worse* because your replacing Cinder wanting power for the sake of power, ( or whatever reason, ) to her being evil for the sake of evil. Which keeps her practicality the same person, except at least she had the illusion of a reason for doing the things that she does. Now your saying she just does it because she does it.

"No bad guys in Game of Thrones?" I'll admit I haven't seen past the first couple episodes, but I can count on one hand the number of major characters who COULDN'T easily be used as the main villain of a more "traditional" fantasy story.

I like RWBY, but I also LOVE the idea of Alternate Realities and Alternate Universes. Taking the ideas and putting different spins and stories on them.

RWBY is my guilty pleasure because everyone calls it shitty but I don’t exactly think it’s that bad so I enjoy watching it, but this rewrite is phenomenal. I’ve tried creating MANY cooperative creative projects and the minute you open it up to the general public it ALWAYS crashes and burns. The general public are not good writers. Man, this video reminds me of the movie “A Monster Calls” where the first story is told. It’s such a great underrated movie. Everyone needs to see it at least once. I really like this alternate story, it’s too bad that things went out of hand during the first alternate days, where discord went to a vast of toxic waste. Since the stereotype of fandoms is set in stone of its toxicity. The majority of people aren’t well... smart. I guess, people do stupid stuff after all. Even for the most pettiest things. I'm actually one of the few people that agrees with you on that. I wouldn't say that the first three seasons were necessarily great but they were at least enjoyable and had some heart to them and were fun to watch and there's still some things that I go back and rewatch to this day. A lot of it is carried by the late Monty Oum's fight animations but even beyond that there's some genuinely fun moments. The concept and setting is super fun to mess around with and create your own stuff and that's why the show sucks so much. It has such great potential but rooster teeth is unable to do anything substantial with it
While this rewrite alternate is good as it's own story...its just so far off from the show that it's not RWBY while wearing a RWBY skin. Maybe it's not for me but the best rwby fanfics for me are those that took what the show introduced and fleshed it out rather than this total conversion mod that essentially just uses RWBY as a skin but it's a completely unrelated story.
One of the biggest issues with RWBY is that it is ideologically hollow- there are not too many big ideas to play around with and that is the basis for alot of writing that is not character driven and RWBY is a plot driven show more than a character driven show. (maybe- It fluctuates a bit actually)

I'm not going to lie watching this entire video I kept feeling the same exact way. If it takes over half the video before it will even remotely tie into anything close to RWBY I feel like this is somebody wanting to make their own story but happened to like RWBY and realized they can get a lot more people interested in it if they call it a RWBY fanfiction. As somebody who used to browse the Ruby fanfiction archive all time I can tell you that this kind of creative bankruptcy is very rampant in this fandom. I feel like something close to over half of all of them are either a "crossover" where they change the names and physical appearances of the cast to whatever the other medium in question is and then just run through the plot the exact same without even changing the personalities or actual characters of the characters or making one minute change that never has any impact and then running through canon with little to no changes.
This is definitely not the stuff I would've wanted original RWBY to be, but you've put a lot of hard work and interesting ideas into it, so I'd love to see you make this. I do, however, think it'd work a bit better as it's own story with it's own concepts rather than leaning on RWBY's original ideas. you've got a great idea I'd buy if it was it's own thing, so I'd love to see it be it's own, unsuable thing

That's what I hate about Dark Souls. Is the value of the soul an arbitrary measurement based on inherint properties of a soul? What are these properties? Or is there a standard soul measurement system? Who's soul is used as a basis, those husks or the snails? Do people actually use souls to buy stuff in universe? Why are people allowed to steal souls or even use them as currency in the first place, that's like literally taking your pound of flesh but on a deeper level. Do souls get stronger or is Yhorm just carrying around a few thousand souls? That does not seem like a viable economic strategy.

one thing you could do with a character like jaune is show the resurgence of the chivalric ideal in the great war much in the same way the R.A.F did in ww2. and with the resurgence of this ideal comes a resurgence of the warrior class though in a much different way than before. now the warrior cast is confined to the frontiers for unending combat against the grimm but they make a living following the idealized fantasy of the past with farmers giving a portion of their harvest to the warriors who protect them, causing the hunters to live hand to mouth. they will never again rise to prominence like they did in their hay day but they will also never be undone as a group their way of life stable being both kind in peace and fierce in war. a glimpse at fantasy where the bad guys are literal creatures of darkness and the Goodguys are unmatched heroes with amazing powers and strong morals. basically, there's a happyish ending for hunters because they found a nitch but they are effectively left behind. a dangerous relic of the past that would cost far too much to destroy when it's effectively incapable of harming you.

So, in short, this whole thing has been mapped out to god knows what end, but has never actually been put into fanfiction/ story form, and the only way for me to consume this beautiful piece of work at all is to either read the gigantic ass document explaining the RWBY Alt canon, or continue watching these. when i hear him say all of rwby is terrible i must say that the fate crossover fanfiction ranges from tolerable to pretty good. also maybe have semblances be specializations for hunters, based in the semblance typing system of rwby proper. final note maybe have hunters over the course of the war become spec ops level soldiers as the old guard are outclassed more and more by ordinary soldiers but the military sees potential for these warriors to be more and more powerful with the right training and equipment. sort of like seal teams or army rangers here in the US. elite warriors who stand out from the rank and file, and for the more religiously inclined nations have the kind of religion be similar to the US army. massive religions don't just die out over such a relatively short period of time as is depicted in the proposed series.
I get the feeling that with all these changes, and all the work you put into this, that you could publish this as a stand alone book in a few months time.

Don't you think the idea of separating hunters into homefront and frontline groups kind of cripple our own storytelling since we would basically only be able to focus on half of the world because RWBY will be spending almost all of their time in either the frontier or within borders.
@@thealliedpowers i mean, you kind of answered your own question. by virtue of beacon and the characters' respective homelands being within marathon they'd be involved with hunters who work at home either way. and the frontier is right there, so they'll probably run into venators too. you could easily write in things like qrow being a venator or winter being a sentinel.
I was on the Discord server for a bit, and I kind of felt like it was getting out of control when they rewrote Ruby's and Yang's backstory twice so I do think they were a little out of control, but I think that there were valid ideas. I think that having the Semblances have three stages representing Body, Mind and Soul was a cool idea, giving a level of growth to characters, but taking Semblances away and just giving aura is a little dumb to me. I also think the tug of war between fantasy and sci-fi is kind of dumb, as you're saying that they were a modern day society before the fall, then when they had no way of fighting grim because they're too weak, they GENETICALLY ENGINEER super soldiers with their vast amounts of no technology, only for guns and cannons to be made like 200 years later, making hunters useless. If that was the case, then when not make guns instead of super soldiers? Your version of dust is just gunpowder that conducts an electric current, so it could be very easy to make flintlock rifles and pistols. I think that your idea to rewrite RWBY is a good one, as the show so far is less than stellar, (Season 7 is turning out to be pretty good in my opinion though. Little to much fan service with ships becoming canon but I can deal with that.) but I think that you're trying to minimize it too much. Maybe have Semblances come back, either through regular RWBY means of "one semblance" or the discord version of "three stages that get progressively stronger". Maybe make dust a teeny bit more powerful, (spitballing here) maybe make dust a living thing that, under different conditions, evolved to six different types. Areas like deserts and volcanos made fire dust, areas that are known for powerful storms or near conductive materials made electric dust, areas with lots of pressure like the bottom of the ocean made gravity dust, tundras making ice dust, places that get good amounts of sunlight make light dust, and dark places with little light like caves make dark dust. I know the idea's a little dumb but finding gunpowder and deciding to not make guns and instead make super soldiers is a little silly too.
There was a good portion of this video where i was thinking “Huh, I’ve never heard this part of the show. Why haven’t I heard about this?” Once I realized it was a reimagining, not only was I disappointed at my own stupidity, but that this is not canon.

Always try to turn the heroes journey understand down. Sometimes you are the side character to the main story. Never be afraid to kill off yourself out of the story. You are not always right and must be taught a lesson in the most horrific ways.

I'm actually one of the few people that agrees with you on that. I wouldn't say that the first three seasons were necessarily great but they were at least enjoyable and had some heart to them and were fun to watch and there's still some things that I go back and rewatch to this day. A lot of it is carried by the late Monty Oum's fight animations but even beyond that there's some genuinely fun moments. The concept and setting is super fun to mess around with and create your own stuff and that's why the show sucks so much. It has such great potential but rooster teeth is unable to do anything substantial with it

While this rewrite alternate is good as it's own story...its just so far off from the show that it's not RWBY while wearing a RWBY skin.
Maybe it's not for me but the best rwby fanfics for me are those that took what the show introduced and fleshed it out rather than this total conversion mod that essentially just uses RWBY as a skin but it's a completely unrelated story.
One of the biggest issues with RWBY is that it is ideologically hollow- there are not too many big ideas to play around with and that is the basis for alot of writing that is not character driven and RWBY is a plot driven show more than a character driven show. (maybe- It fluctuates a bit actually)

I'm not going to lie watching this entire video I kept feeling the same exact way. If it takes over half the video before it will even remotely tie into anything close to RWBY I feel like this is somebody wanting to make their own story but happened to like RWBY and realized they can get a lot more people interested in it if they call it a RWBY fanfiction. As somebody who used to browse the Ruby fanfiction archive all time I can tell you that this kind of creative bankruptcy is very rampant in this fandom. I feel like something close to over half of all of them are either a "crossover" where they change the names and physical appearances of the cast to whatever the other medium in question is and then just run through the plot the exact same without even changing the personalities or actual characters of the characters or making one minute change that never has any impact and then running through canon with little to no changes.

That's what I hate about Dark Souls. Is the value of the soul an arbitrary measurement based on inherint properties of a soul? What are these properties? Or is there a standard soul measurement system? Who's soul is used as a basis, those husks or the snails? Do people actually use souls to buy stuff in universe? Why are people allowed to steal souls or even use them as currency in the first place, that's like literally taking your pound of flesh but on a deeper level. Do souls get stronger or is Yhorm just carrying around a few thousand souls? That does not seem like a viable economic strategy.

No, this isn't RWBY, this is your own original story. You should do what Rooster Teeth did when they wanted to tell their own stories; and tell your own stories. I really don't understand why people do this kind of "AUs"; when you're so far away from the source material, why call it a fanfic? Why not give it original names that you can copyright? You know you can make money off your own copyrighted material right? You can't do that with fanfiction

one thing you could do with a character like jaune is show the resurgence of the chivalric ideal in the great war much in the same way the R.A.F did in ww2. and with the resurgence of this ideal comes a resurgence of the warrior class though in a much different way than before.
now the warrior cast is confined to the frontiers for unending combat against the grimm but they make a living following the idealized fantasy of the past with farmers giving a portion of their harvest to the warriors who protect them, causing the hunters to live hand to mouth. they will never again rise to prominence like they did in their hay day but they will also never be undone as a group their way of life stable
being both kind in peace and fierce in war. a glimpse at fantasy where the bad guys are literal creatures of darkness and the Goodguys are unmatched heroes with amazing powers and strong morals.
basically, there's a happyish ending for hunters because they found a nitch but they are effectively left behind. a dangerous relic of the past that would cost far too much to destroy when it's effectively incapable of harming you.

when i hear him say all of rwby is terrible i must say that the fate crossover fanfiction ranges from tolerable to pretty good. also maybe have semblances be specializations for hunters, based in the semblance typing system of rwby proper. final note maybe have hunters over the course of the war become spec ops level soldiers as the old guard are outclassed more and more by ordinary soldiers but the military sees potential for these warriors to be more and more powerful with the right training and equipment. sort of like seal teams or army rangers here in the US. elite warriors who stand out from the rank and file, and for the more religiously inclined nations have the kind of religion be similar to the US army. massive religions don't just die out over such a relatively short period of time as is depicted in the proposed series.

Don't you think the idea of separating hunters into homefront and frontline groups kind of cripple our own storytelling since we would basically only be able to focus on half of the world because RWBY will be spending almost all of their time in either the frontier or within borders.
@@thealliedpowers i mean, you kind of answered your own question. by virtue of beacon and the characters' respective homelands being within marathon they'd be involved with hunters who work at home either way. and the frontier is right there, so they'll probably run into venators too. you could easily write in things like qrow being a venator or winter being a sentinel.
I was on the Discord server for a bit, and I kind of felt like it was getting out of control when they rewrote Ruby's and Yang's backstory twice so I do think they were a little out of control, but I think that there were valid ideas. I think that having the Semblances have three stages representing Body, Mind and Soul was a cool idea, giving a level of growth to characters, but taking Semblances away and just giving aura is a little dumb to me. I also think the tug of war between fantasy and sci-fi is kind of dumb, as you're saying that they were a modern day society before the fall, then when they had no way of fighting grim because they're too weak, they GENETICALLY ENGINEER super soldiers with their vast amounts of no technology, only for guns and cannons to be made like 200 years later, making hunters useless. If that was the case, then when not make guns instead of super soldiers? Your version of dust is just gunpowder that conducts an electric current, so it could be very easy to make flintlock rifles and pistols.
I think that your idea to rewrite RWBY is a good one, as the show so far is less than stellar, (Season 7 is turning out to be pretty good in my opinion though. Little to much fan service with ships becoming canon but I can deal with that.) but I think that you're trying to minimize it too much. Maybe have Semblances come back, either through regular RWBY means of "one semblance" or the discord version of "three stages that get progressively stronger". Maybe make dust a teeny bit more powerful, (spitballing here) maybe make dust a living thing that, under different conditions, evolved to six different types. Areas like deserts and volcanos made fire dust, areas that are known for powerful storms or near conductive materials made electric dust, areas with lots of pressure like the bottom of the ocean made gravity dust, tundras making ice dust, places that get good amounts of sunlight make light dust, and dark places with little light like caves make dark dust. I know the idea's a little dumb but finding gunpowder and deciding to not make guns and instead make super soldiers is a little silly too.
There was a good portion of this video where i was thinking “Huh, I’ve never heard this part of the show. Why haven’t I heard about this?”
Once I realized it was a reimagining, not only was I disappointed at my own stupidity, but that this is not canon.

Some say Human souls are weighted in how you are born and resources you hold to survival, but in the beginning it was never like that and people work together to earn their share but as time went on a system was made and the leader decided to control it all which worked in both positive and negative effects so only 1% can hold that power
