Mr F5000 . I always supported Peter Gethin in various formula over many years. Always smiling. Always courteous. A time long ago now and never to be repeated. God bless.
Dreaming of this to happen this season. Could you imagine if Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen and Ricciardo all had competitive cars? It would be amazing.
Peter Gethin racing driver, was born 21-2-40. He died on 5-12-11, aged 71. Drove for BRM in the early 1970’s. In the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 1971. Driving a BRM, he set a record for the fastest average speed in F1 history; 150.755 mph. It was not to be broken until Michael Schumacher surpassed it with his speed of 153.84 mph in 2003.
It was just the same as always. Some seasons had dominance, others didn't. In 1965 Clark became the only driver in history to achieve maximum points in a season
I do agree: nowadays F1 is but a dull and boring all-commerzial event. Completely overruled and technically overdressed, with the charme of some better pc-game. No charisma at all, especially in the cars. One looks as stupid as the other, and ugly as hell. But way back then, every car has had it´s own character, be it the stunning BRM, be it the smart March, the fine Lotus, the all time great Ferrari - and what a charme that was. THAT was Grand Prix Racing!
Man....I would love to see the whole race.Great stuff.
great stuff. you dont see that in f1 anymore. probley never agian.

The last year of Monza without chicanes: arguably the greatest race ever.
