Produced by Rafay Rashdi and MD Productions for HUM TV, Badshah Begum is not your regular run-of-the-mill and conventional mainstream stories. The drama is set in a fictional state of Peeraan Pur, under the rule of Pir Shah Alam who has five children from two wives; Shahzeb, Murad, Jahan Ara, Roshan Ara and Shahmir.
When undesired circumstances force his city-born and raised children Jahan Ara, Roshan and Shahmir to their hometown, they find themselves tangled in powerplay and politics that they never wished to be a part of. What follows in an epic tale of dynastic politics, sibling rivalry and anarchy.
Written by Saji Gul, directed by Khizer Idress, Badshah Begum boasts a stellar cast comprising the industry’s finest Zara Noor Abbas, Farhan Saeed, Ali Rehman, Yasir Hussain, Abul Hassan, Komal Mir, Hiba Aziz, Tanya Hussain, Hamza Sohail, Shahzad Nawaz, Saman Ansari and others. What a character Pir Shahzaib is. You can see so many layers You can see the slight hint of pain of abandonment by his father in his eye, you can see the hint of genuine affection towards that girl Zulekha, You can see uncertainty he has about his own self that comes from the thought that if he wasn't the child preferred for his father affection will he ever be a child worthy ascending to the "Seat" in his father's eyes, You can see the hint of wanting to prove himself worthy. The guy has a beef with the whole freaking world including his own self. You can see that he is broken. Frahan Saeed managed to deliver it all in his performance.

To all those who are complaining about it having resemblance to other dramas with power play. Seriously guys that is the genre of the drama political, and power rivalry. Every drama book or movie ever made in this genre resembles each other. Even Medici family a real a historical family of France had it. It's not trying to copy anything form any other drama movie or TV series. THIS IS THE GENRE. Be glad that Pakistani Industry is taking up such stories too because let's face it this kind of power play happens every where.
