Legal experts share advice to Florida homeowners on sinkholes

  • With work underway on the sinkhole that opened in Lakeland last week, legal experts are weighing in on the sinkhole problem in Florida and what homeowners need to know. Jack Hall lives steps away from where the sinkhole opened near Scott Lake Road and Fitzgerald Road on private property. He’s been a building contractor for 35 years, so he knows quite a bit about sinkholes and what they do. “My home’s been remediated already. I’ve got, had a half million dollar claim on this home putting concrete under it. So ultimately, I’m not worried about it on my property, but being 42 feet from my back property line; they’ve talked to me a few times about having me leave, so that’s what puts me on edge," said Hall.

    My advice: get the heck out of FL. Sinkholes, a$$holes, red tide, DeSatan, gators, snakes, floridamen, deadly seaweed, and so much traffic.

    Florida home owners insurance have sinkhole coverage. Of course this is going to help you if your in your home when the sink hole opens up. Poor guy had a sink hole opened under his bedroom. Never found him. Sad

    Sink HOLES are not that dangerous. Unless your house is near one. Sink hole insurance is cheap 🙂...... about $380 a month.

      $380.00 plus other insurance. And costs of construction labor and AC units that last $8 years. Florida nails you; and yet you Floridians love the state. You couldn't GIVE me a house in FL --with no strings attached.
