  • What is the MOST INTERESTING grid tool in Illustrator, and how can you use it to make some awesome designs? Find out in todays Satori Graphics Illustrator tutorial.
    There are various different grid tools within Adobe Illustrator, but none of them are as interesting in the way that this one is. I have a neat trick on how to use it to make some intricate vector designs, that are super fun to make and look really cool too.
    Let me know if you have used this grid tool in this fashion before, or maybe you have never even used it, and today was the first introduction for you and the polar grid tool. I’d love to here your experience with it, and your thoughts on the tool itself!
    If you found todays tutorial on the polar grid tool in Illustrator enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. Subscribe to stay updated to all of my uploads and until next time, design your future today, peace

    Why dont you use the „transform“ effect? Is much more easy, and you can rotate/duplicate in one single step

    • @SatoriGraphics
      @SatoriGraphics  Před 5 lety +22

      There are many ways to do the same thing in Ai, and I simply decided to teach some things about the rotation tool. You can also do it in the appearance panel... but again, today I didn't decide to teach that

    • @Foltl
      @Foltl Před 5 lety +8

      Ah, you wanna teach/explain every single tool in Illustrator. I use Illustrator for about 15 years - and I have to admit, there are tools I've never used before. (Or once in a years, like the diagram tool)

    • @SatoriGraphics
      @SatoriGraphics  Před 5 lety +14

      Yeah I wanted to explore something that many or most people have never used before. There are many ways to achieve these kind of effects, another is to use the live drawing mirror technique, which I will explore next week :)

    • @adama215
      @adama215 Před 3 lety

      If you turn the slice into a clipping mask your shape doesn't have to 'perfectly meet the edges of the slice' which is time consuming and quite an inefficient way to teach people.

  • @r14557
    @r14557 Před 5 lety +2

    there is even a cooler way to achieve effects like that.. you can apply transform to a whole layer, set it ie: 6 copies rotated 60º degrees. Draw a a circle or a square somewhere and then use the draw inside tool so the shape can act as an artboard

    • @SatoriGraphics
      @SatoriGraphics  Před 5 lety

      Right click on the line segment tool in the menu to the left and a dialogue box will open allowing you to select another tool, including the polar grid tool. You can do this for any tool that has a small triangle in the bottom right corner of the button. The program groups similar tools together under one button.

    I guess you can not do this in CS2 because after clicking the icon to Exit Isolation nothing happens. I did smilar tutorials to make Mandalas making radios in other ways and I had no problem but with this Grid the drawing simply won't reproduce itself in the other sections. Unless there is other way for CS2 that I don't know. - I want to add that you explain very well other tutorials showing the Polar Grid are confusing they go so fast and I couldn't understand what I was missing, now I know, the Isolation step.

    Thats not a grid tool tho. You're just rotating shapes.
    And there are easier ways to do that.
    I like to draw a larger circle around the entire artwork, then when I rotate the artwork, I'll also choose the circle- so that it automatically rotates around a central point. Then you can just hit cmd+D to rotate/copy again and again.
