  • Please subscribe to ‎@EbikesandMore to help support and grow the channel. thanks in advance! I wanted to share with other XR150L owners and others the first modifications I've done to the 2023 Honda XR150L. I also got my dog Bron some riding glasses that he likes but needs more distractions around liie when riding to keep them on. But he's way less nervous than the first time we trained some, and you can tell he know he needs to cooperate in order to go with me. I won't force him though, but when I take him to the dog park in a few weeks on it... i bet he starts to really love and look forward to rides in it! He loves his sidecar and E-bike rides. With the modifications to the bike I have... put on a phone mount that works great, Go Pro mount up front for filming liability type shots while riding to show proof of someone pulling out in front of me ( which has happened now 3 out of 3 times riding! 😠 😡) I took off the cheap red and black decal, yook off most stickers except for all the information on the chain gaurd, put an industrial velcro strip on to hold a huge power bank to charge my phone and Go Pro, turned the idle or throttle up a half a turn and now back to a quarter a turn (it helped it start and run much better, but in last video is before I turned back down because it was idling too high after it was warmed up) then I took out the baffle and thing in the exhaust that prevents sparks shooting out. It runs so much better and has much better air flow with that out. I have kept though to use while riding with my dog to keep it quiter, and National Parks. thanks for watching and I'll have more videos of us riding out soon. Also a new video coming soon on the painting and rebuilding of the electric converted Kawasaki KX80!

    I've had my xr150l for about 6 months now, put around 2,200 miles on it. I'm a big guy, 6' tall 230lbs. Average top speed is around 55mph as well. I've owned multiple dirtbikes and street bikes before, this is the smallest street legal anything I've owned lol, but it's honestly my favorite overall cuz it can go anywhere, gets good gas milage, and has held up to a beating. Plus I can toss it in my truck and hookup up my camp in trailer for goin on camp trips. Upgrade wise, I've added a quad lock phone mount with wireless charging, wired into the bike so that it only powers up when the bike is on. I upgraded the headlight to a Hikari LED bulb. Mounted a waterproof lockable hard case to the rear rack for storage (Harbor freight version of a pelican case). Upgraded the tires to a more aggressive all terrain. Upgraded mirrors. Upgraded shift lever that folds when hitting stuff. Skid plate. Led turn signals (you need to also upgrade the blink relay to work right with led).

      What relay did you use for the LED turn signals? I didn't know if the relay or a voltage regulator needed to be replaced or upgraded.

    Great XR150L content! Those Amazon no-name hand guards are great. I bought some for my dirtbike and they are very durable.

      How much are they ?

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci

      $2,971 msrp. So after tax title and fees are 4k out the door or less. Some places a little more, but still a great deal for a good dual sport motorcycle.

      my motorcycle is xr150l
      The only thing that I don't like about the Honda is the tires I live in an area where we have a lot of black clay and red clay on the roads and when it's muddy are really wet my tires seem to get out from under me I have broke my mirrors and bent my left rear tail light bracket I used a pipe wrench to bend it back in place my next upgrade is going to be tires!
      I'm looking at the shanko 244
      2.75.19 front 4.60.17 back
      I can't blame everything on my tires some of it is not experienced on dual sport bike a long time ago I had a Honda trail 70 when I was younger and that thing was a blast
      I also have a Yamaha 1100 classic for the last 15 years riding on the highway on a street bike it's different than the dirt roads my Honda XR performs the same on the asphalt roads but when I move to the dirt and the clay and the mud I am inexperienced in what to do in certain situations
      Twice I'm not even for sure how I wound up laying it down I was just there but okay . Good luck and I hope your Honda is fun as my Honda is!!

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @aaronrhoades509 sorry to hear you've laid it down a few times, but atleast it's a bike that's kinda designed to happen eventually and parts and the bike itself is cheaper. That helps atleast fix it back up if it's dropped. Those are the tires and size everyone seems to get on this! I hate to spend more money because they are brand new tires... but yeah seems that everyone has had this issue... everyone replaces the tires and foot pegs right away. I have size 9 shoes and feel pretty comfortable on it completely stock so far! Enjoy the bike man, and I can't wait for consistent warm weather!

    Need a skid plate my friend glad your enjoying and amen on slow bike fast and fast bike slow. My main baby is a 2012 KLX250S black and red lol I know you don't like red, but I'm picky with color on my bikes. Enjoy the riding world. God bless Semper Fi

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Thanks. It had a skid plate on from factory I hade them take off, because they wanted to charge $200 for it and it was plastic. Lol so I've got a metal one saved for like $110, but not too happy with it either... so might make a metal one for it myself. But as of now until I get Shinko knobby tires I won't even be off roading yet. So skid plate will come in time. I went and sat on the 2023 Kawasaki 230S in black and silver and it was awesome... but twice the price of this... but eventually in the next few years that will probably be my next bike.

    Definitely need to adjust the idle. I had to get a gauge off Amazon. Idk why it’s set so high from factory.
    I just got a 45 liter hard box for my helmet. Ordered the Honda guards for the handles.

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah I've idled it down since the last part in this video. It was very hard to stay running at first, so I turned it up but too much. Now just about right, but I'd like to change the carb out for a better one soon. The Honda hand gurads look nice, but I wanted one's that went all the way around and attached on both sides of the bars to protect not just my hands but for when if the bike falls on its levers it protects them. Only $27 off Amazon. Hopefully you like your new hard box! So far I have found this extra large milk crate to be perfec for me for my helmet or dog or anything. Lol

      @xbigbobsagetx Před 4 měsíci +2

      Mine too is difficult to keep running at first even when it’s 60 degrees out. I have to give it throttle but once i ride it for a block or two it’s good. I love this bike. Also, I don’t even see 70mph going down hill. It’s still perfect for me on rural Missouri highways. 50-55 it excels in on pavement.

    Great video. Did you get a chance to install the turn signals yet? Will you need a relay since they are LED?

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks and thanks for watching! I haven't installed them yet, but I hooked up 2 in the back and tried them without a relay and they were working fine. They have a built-in flasher and must not pull much voltage. But I haven't actually installed them yet, because I've seen that some people even blown their fuse when starting the bike with the high beam on. So before putting on the LED turn signals, I am going to upgrade the whole system to support a LED headlight and tailight also.

    It does sound like you have the idle too high. Tuning should be done after it’s warmed up. Edit: oh you turned it back down a little later lol.

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 21 dnem

      Yeah the dealership really had it set high to get the bike to start up I'm sure... this thing was so cold blooded stock! After a bigger pilot and main jet it starts first push of the button without even half chock.

  • @leesops710
    @leesops710 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Also ur bike is looking sick. I really like them hand guards who makes. The led lights be very careful they run on a different volts. There is a video on CZcams on a relay for the leds or they will screw with the electrical system on the bike. Nice job on ur build

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Thanks again, man! Yeah, the LED turn signals have a built-in flasher, and on my electric dirt bike were pulling the same volts as the bulbs. But yeah, I haven't tried on the Honda yet because I see that people even blow a fuse when starting the bike with the brights on. So i was going to get a completely different system to be able to handle LED headlight, tailight, and turn signals. But I might try the turn signals for now and take the risk so that everyone knows for just like $15 on Amazon they can get smaller turn signals that are even LED. The hand guards are off Amazon for only $26.99 and no namers. I was going to order actual Bark Busters, and like the ones in white and black writing looks cool. But were $80. But probably worth the price. These cheaper ones, though I'm very impressed with the strength.

      Love the handgaurds .did you have to drill the ends of the handle bars , as some bikes have bar end plugs .
      This is a far better dual sport for the money, almost half the cost of say a CRF250L . With the guys in Portland testing a 222 cc. Big bore kit , carb and cam .
      We should be able to chase down some bigger bikes , and maintain possibly hwy speeds for short distances ,
      I live in a rual area so keeping ahead of traffic is simply safer . My Navi is for sure a great city bike . Keep us in the loop about your upgrades and adventures .

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @leesops710 yeah i hope to have a 300 by next year or so, but starting with the 150.

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@philipcloutier2553 thanks man! On the left side you just cut out or punch out... a small hole or 8 guess atleast half of the hole in the grip. Nothing is in the end of that handle bar end. The throttle side or right side had some plastic on that side, but same on that side but bigger hole. They are very sturdy and only $27 on Amazon. But if you have the money I'd order the actual Bark Busters because they say their name on them in black. Looks cool. And yeah even just taking out the stuff inside the exhaust, and inside the carburetor for epa and stuff helps. Then they have plenty of performance upgrades. I mean with gearing and other parts you can make it perform like a crf. But I'm fine with just cruising around slow. I have been on 3 rides on this 3 days in a row, and atleast 3 tumes have almost been hit. Yesterday a lady in a huge Ford truck with a plow in the front pulled out of iur local bowling alley looking only one way and didn't stop. I was in the road already turning left account from her, and I had a feeling she wasn't stopping, and I put the bike in between us just in case, because I love my bike but I'm not getting plowed for it. Lol and luckily she finally looked the direction she was driving lol and saw me just feet in front of her. Had a business name and phone number all over it, but i didn't have time to even get the info i was so freaking mad! She waved and said sorry. Lol every day I've been out I if it weren't for me already riding slow and defensive... would've been hit! This is why I am 36 and just now getting on a motorcycle on the roads. Because of horrible drivers on the road!

    How did you attach the handguards? Drill the ends of the stock grips?

    • @EbikesandMore
      @EbikesandMore  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes I did to test them out I drill an almost dime size hole, or cut. Then these Bark Busters style hand gaurds screw into the ends and then actually protect your clutch and brake lever. Not like the Honda guards that won't. They were only like $20 off Amazon. They are just a brighter white then the bike to be super picky. But now I have Pro Taper hand grips and they already come with the end ready for these, and you can punch them out or cut out.

      Thanks. I did last night after I got home and took that last video. I did a half turn at first, and it was too much, so I went back another quarter turn and it's better.
