- Bonaire is a small island country located in the southern Caribbean Sea, north of Venezuela. Together, Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao are known as the ABC islands. In this video, we’ll provide an overview of our December 2023 return visit to Bonaire, when our ship, the Holland America Nieuw Statendam, docked in the capital city of Kralendijk and we rented a car to enjoy some landsailing, a delicious lunch, and another visit to the Donkey Sanctuary.

We love Bonaire. We went there on a cruise in 2017 and then again in 2023. We had a wonderful VIP “all included” sailboat excursion in 2017 that was one of the best excursions to date. The land sailing looks fantastic, however at my age that probably as “sailed” now.
You might consider emailing them to talk about your situation. All the employees were super helpful and the only real strain is if you want to pull the rope hard enough to go as fast as possible. You can pretty easily have a "relaxing" landsailing adventure with much less work. 😁

We just booked an ABC cruise on Holland America's Rotterdam. We are so excited! Do you have a link for the car rental? We'd rather have a car versus a golf cart. Did they charge you a large deposit for the car?
We rented from Hertz at the DIVI Flamingo Resort. We did not have to pay a deposit when we made the reservation and we only had to pay for the rental on the day we picked up the car. They do charge extra for insurance and that cost is pretty outrageous. We declined their insurance because we had added car rental insurance to the travel insurance we purchased for the cruise.
