  • When I was recently looking for new tyre insert options I came across Rimpact. A uk based insert maker producing their SendNoodz "pool noodle" style insert. The profile looked interesting and being UK made was another draw.
    So after a few emails they sent me a pair for testing.
    Here are my initial thoughts from install to riding, this will be a long term review so I will be coming back to them over the next few months.

    Thank you for actually riding with these. Too many of the other "reviews" were just install videos with the word Review in the title.

      Well it's not a review unless you actually ride them and form an opinion!😂 ive had a few different tyres, slashed a sidewall and the insert has no gashes or cuts. The paper strip unsurprisingly disintegrated but yup all good.

    I've just fitted Rimpact inserts and think they are amazing. I can run much lower pressures. Been down to 10 psi no problems. But stuck to 15. They are unbelievable for gaining traction. No wheel spin where I used to on steep climbs . Great value and the bonus of being able to ride home with zero air is so helpful

    Been running Huck Norris inserts in my Enduro bike for a year or so with great results. Was looking for something to use in my ebike to try & control the plus tyres, these look just the ticket. Going to order some right now and will name drop your channel👍🏼

      Awesome, these would work brilliantly with an E-Bike, they also solve the weaknesses of plus sized so double win! And thanks for the mention 😉👍🏻.

      Stravaiging MTB just dropped them a message asking which size I need as I am going to try 2.6” tyres on 40mm rims which crosses the lines between the standard & plus sized inserts. Maybe get to try em at the weekend.
      Keeps the vids coming, nice work👍🏼

    I fitted SendNoodz to my 29er hardtail a couple of weeks ago. Don’t really notice much difference in the front, but it’s got 160mm forks so I’m not likely to. In the rear though, I really notice a reduction in trail chatter. Will definitely be fitting them to my full suss ready for days at Revs, BPW and a week in Morzine. If a £40 Nood saves me from trashing a £200 wheel it’s gotta be worth it.

    Hey just to let you know I'm running nukeproof rim insert at 15/18 psi they definitely make a small difference I'm on a whyte t130 so not a lot of suspension and I'm sure this helps
    Keep riding and bringing us more content and drink plenty of tea 🤤

      I haven't had a brew in a video for ages! How remiss! The Rimpacts are certainly a but bigger than the Nukeproof ones, but they must be working if your sub 20psi!

    Really curious about this. I ride 29+ - haven’t had a chance to look if that size is available, but at that price, I’d consider these whereas cushcore is too much and the minimal inserts I’ve not seen enough to be impressed by.

  • @antonywilliams5703

    Running these inserts in the rear tyre on 3 bikes (2 FS 1 HT). Loving the extra traction and I can't say I notice too much drag.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  Před 5 lety

      I only really felt the sluggishness on flat pedally trails/fireroads, well worth it for the added traction!

    Where did you start and where did you end up with tyre pressures before & after rimpact?

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  Před 5 lety +1

      Started about 24/26 front rear and have ended around 18/19. The volume is So o different with the rimpact in and different tyres sidewalls react differently but those numbers have worked on a few tyres.

  • @nigelstevenson9166
    @nigelstevenson9166 Před 4 lety +2

    I've just ordered a set of these I've previously dinged two rear rims running tubeless, I'm interested to know your riding weight in comparison to your Tyre pressure.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  Před 4 lety +1

      I'm around 70/72 kilos with a pack and a lot of water maybe 69kg with a hip pack for shorter rides. I used to be 24/26 f/r and I dropped roughly 3 psi. The insert make a the available chamber for air smaller so it ramps up and has a firmer tyre feel faster than without. Think your fork with max volume spacers.

      @nigelstevenson9166 Před 4 lety

      @@StravaigingMTB ahh ok, really looking forward to trying the rimpact, I'm about 95kg riding weight and currently run similar to your previous pressures. Interested to see the longevity of the inserts. Thanks for the reply dude, and great vid.

    how did they go longer term? I've had Nukeproof ARDs and Pepi noodles which were great for the first few rides, but then expanded and were horrible. Sounded like a tennis ball being hit, thwack thwack thwack over bumps and vibration then increased! I got a refund on ARDs, plenty of similar comments on CRC website.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  Před 4 lety

      these ones have not swollen up or absorbed sealant. the paper label predictably dissintergrated but otherwise that have faired very well. I will say the sealant does dry out faster because there is a larger surface area being covered by the sealant.

      2.35 Schwalbe Maguc Mary up front with 2.3 Vittoria Jaffaki out back. I normally have a specialized Butcher Grid out back but experimenting with the Jaffaki. Also using Rimpact inserts in both tyres.

    Did you change suspension setup? With Cush Core I did, I rand too harsh setup cus I needed volume reduction, but I installed cush core, dropped 4 psi i tyres, 20 in suspension, but as for benefits basically the same you described.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  Před 5 lety +1

      I didn't alter my suspension, I wanted to see what the insert did without altering another variable. by the end I did take one click of LS Compression off the front, but I'd probably of done something like that anyway :D!

      @@StravaigingMTB yea I tested cush core with same set up, just tested tyre pressure first, then I found my harsh setup I had to not bottom out, could be changed so I did,its pretty good now, not perfect, but decent.

    What do People mean when they say they have drag?

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  Před 4 lety

      if you roll two different tyres down a hill some will be faster than others. that resistance is called drag.
