    // ABOUT THIS VIDEO
I've always loved the Nelson platform bench / coffee table. So much so that I actually built one out of LEGO once. Well, before I started woodworking, it was a dream of mine to make one from wood - but as I got more into woodworking and designing, I became less interested in that, and more interested in making something based off of the design. A contemporary interpretation of the bench if you will. In this video, I do exactly that.

Hello everybody, thank you for all the comments. I'm getting an overwhelming positive response about keeping the philosophical/poetic style voice overs, so I thought I would set the record straight. I have no plans of actually changing my VO style. The truth is, I have gotten a fair amount of comments in the past from people saying things like "shut up and let your woodworking do the talking" etc... And if you guys know me, I'm the type of person who likes to reply with quips that further infuriate the commentor. So what I did with this video was said that I read the comments and that I tried to make this video more "tutorial-ish" and then immediately followed that up with a literal poem. My hope is that this will piss off a small handful of the trolls, and really if I can piss off just one then it will all have been worth it :)
But thank you call for the kind words.
    -Chris

Your philosophical/poetic style is what gives you the edge over all the other woodworking creators out there (and combined with awesome design, craftsmanship and film making it really makes me excited to watch your projects whenever you post a new one). Please keep your style, it's what makes you stand out and makes what you do special. I haven't even been close supporting someone on Patreon - but since you seem to be such a humble and gracious person I'm actually considering it. Greetings from Sweden!

Chris Salomone Keep up the good work, Chris. Your style is unique and what many, including myself, really enjoy about your self.
The important bit is to stay true to yourself, whatever that may be for you. There will always be critics, as they tend to be the most vocal.
      Have a great day, Chris!

I watch your videos because of your voice over style, the edits and the peaceful and spiritual feel to it. That's what conveys the passion, and that what engages your audience. Personality, humour, while instructing. Stay authentic Chris, there are a thousand instructional videos out there, but only one that is YOU. Brilliant work by the way.

Keep the voice-overs, philosophy and all. It sets your videos ( alone with the quality of work) apart from the rest. The philosophy of the design, is as important as sanding, stain, joints or any other part of the build. This is your video, your channel, your philosophy.

Hey Chris, I like your videos including the voice over. It's relaxing, calming and saves me from taking my hammock to the beach. Above that I like to listen to the point your making. Please make the videos in your way. CZcams doesn't need more Jimmy Diresta imitators. Be yourself. It's the best.

PLEASE ... DO NOT CHANGE ONE DAMN THING ABOUT YOUR VIDEO'S!!!!
Your style is unique and that sets you apart from the rest, it is one of the reasons I love to watch your channel !!

I think the black inside of the top gives it a nice contrast and plays nicely with the black legs.

Philosophical rambles or not, I like the way present your videos. Your voice is very soothing, just like Justin over at Rainfall Projects. I'll tell you what I've told him: your videos are very relaxing, so much so that when I become a father I'll use your videos as a way to sooth them if they cry.

I love the philosophical side. I watch your videos for you. I know how to woodwork and if I wanted to just see a how to I could read a book. Your videos are entertaining. Half the time I don't even need to watch the full video. I do my day job while listening to you talk. Tell people to get over it. You offer free entertainment to them. And it's great!

The whole reason why is subscribed to your channel was the poetic aspect. The way you edit your videos and do the voice overs makes them beautiful, maybe even artful. It puts you in a whole other category, there are hundreds of good woodworkers on youtube, but I haven't found one that makes videos like yours.
Keep up the good work, in the end, this is your channel you can change if you want to, but don't let a small group of people force you to change who you are and what you like to make!

Your philisophical/poetic style is what gives you the edge over all the other woodworking creators out there (and combined with awesome design, craftsmanship and filmmaking it really makes me excited to watch your projects whenever you post a new one). Please keep your style, it's what makes you stand out and makes what you do special. I haven't even been close supporting someone on Patreon - but since you seem to be such a humble and gracious person I'm actually considering it. Greetings from Sweden!

Ignore those dissenters! The mix of philosophy is exactly what I love about your videos, and really I wish there was more of it. It perfectly captures what it's like to actually build a piece, sitting there sanding for 10 minutes at a time meditating on life.

I love the internet because it's a place to share ideas and learn about projects and the person who created them. On the other hand, I hate how the internet seems to encourage morons to voice their opinions as facts. Make the videos and projects that you want to make and don't worry about pleasing everyone as it is impossible to do. Do your thing and ignore those who posting comments just to get a rise out of you.
    Love your channel!

Glad you were not serious about removing the philosophical/poetic bits. The clean editing, designs and commentary is what got me hooked to your channel. I never comment on your videos (sorry) but thank you for your work. It's always a breath of fresh air when I see that you uploaded something.

I enjoy your "philosophical" style of talking. Its what makes you you, and makes these videos so enjoyable for us viewers to watch. For me, your videos are very slow, calm, and easy to follow. No loud noises, it is very calming and therapeutic for me. Whenever I see you upload, I watch. Be you, this is your you tube channel anyway. (:
