I’ve been doing that to my yard between rain. Im73 and do all my yard work but it is so satisfying. I love to be outside. I’m so happy for this lady. Nothing better than. Seeing your yard neat and clean.

You skills and tools were an asset. Things as your know-how on how to pull a blackberry loose, weed and when you used your hedger, to bring down masses of foliage for packing into green waste bags, people were then more able to understand how they could help. Wow, a two-strip driveway was hiding in there. That was a pretty rose by the door. A good idea working on the neighbor's as well, problems can/do transfer back and forth. (Neighborhood jam project might be good....) Nice the enthusiasm trickled to a third house getting some work started.

People getting together makes light work of a huge task. They will feel tired but elated seeing the outcome. Also realise that using muscles and more oxygen in the body make one feel better.
So nice to see neighbors helping neighbors. I live in the midwest USA in Illinois and I wouldn't be able to stay in my house without my neighbors and my lawn service. They have seen me go from working and caring for a terminally ill younger brother, to losing all three of my younger brothers and my parents to various diseases, to my own health deterioration. They help take me to appointments where I receive anesthesia for pain relieving procedures. In return, I watch their children, who are school age to high school. So their oldest doesn't feel locked in to being the babysitter. Something my parents always made me do as I got older. I hated it because it wasn't my choice. And they were a handful! But I do miss them. My neighbors have become like family to me.

Well done to the neighbours too - what community spirit - Dot is lucky to have them near her. The skip for which they paid makes clearance easier in terms of not so many trips to landfill. (I have done 14 trips to the council tip with a completely full volvo estate of trimmed hedge (it is a huge thing) and from sides of lawn hedges too in the last 2 weeks as done so much at home). Mine is mostly just lawn and hedge and trees. It can be wise as people get older to simplify the garden, get rid of pots and some borders. My neighbour is 90 this year (and sadly just moved out - she wanted to die in her house of 50 years),. She paid gardeners for about 40 years but not in the last few although the wildlife (and I) have loved the last few years of wildness.....

Quick gardener-nerd question: for the bramble-whacking is that the Stihl KMA135R kombi you're using? And what blade is it? Is it the Oregon brush cutting one?
