    wanna know what TRUE comedy is? youre watching it right now. it doesnt matter what kind of humor you like, he does it. slapstick, silly, musical, smart, dumb. he is the master of them all. ive loved him since i was 10 years old, and i still love him today.

    Most people don't realize why he was so amazing at the time he came onto the scene - the 70s was a comic revolution with comedians like Cheech & Chong and Richard Pryor all doing material never allowed before. It was all about drugs, sex, and the darker side of real-life and it was amazing and also really heavy stuff and when Steve Martin broke onto the scene he was the total opposite. His act and humor were stupid, goofy, and very light overall, coming out in a white suit and making balloon animals, wearing a fake arrow through his head, playing the banjo and then right in the middle of telling a joke yelling out, "HAPPY FEET!", and then dancing all over the stage like an idiot, and it was pure genius. He was such a breath of fresh air.

      We got a bunny for my daughter, and named him Steve Martin. The first comedy routine I saw the real Steve do was in the seventies, when he put the bunny ears on to get laughs.

      @RobMacKendrick Před 3 lety +3

      He also scrupulously avoided all drugs, which was the "weirdest" thing about him in those days. And probably the reason he's still alive and working.

    • @terrywhitman9967
      @terrywhitman9967 Před 2 lety

      Well of course Steve Martin was a breath of fresh air. As noted earlier he didn't do drugs or smoke whereas Richard Pryor smoked even on his death bed and Cheech and Chong smoked a lot of marijuana.

    He could spoof magic so deliciously because he was quite an accomplished magician in real life.

      He's an interesting guy; same deal with music. He spoofed the heck out of that, which he was great at because he was also a great musician.

    Steve Martin was the first "rock star" comedian. He used to give comedy "concerts" back in the 70's where he would not only sell out venues big enough for rock bands, but people would actually be lined up around the block waiting to get in! Let's get small!

    One of the great tragedies is that he wanted to be a dramatic actor. Great comedy is much rarer, more difficult, and more valuable than great acting.

    • @MMArules619
      @MMArules619 Před 2 lety

      @@Gestr3482 It's 1000 times more difficult! Great actors cannot just go out and be funny or come up with material easily....yet several comedians jump to dramatic acting....cannot name one dramatic actor that has made a successful leap to being a comedian. Steve stated it took 10 years to get material for his act in the 70s. People think its easy to come up with stuff and I suppose it is however having that be funny for a DIFFERENT group of strangers a few times every week is a whole different ball game.

    Robin Williams was the funniest guy I ever saw on TV and we all know that he took his own life. So WHAT is to be gained in life no matter how successful you appear to be??? Only the Lord Jesus, as the Life-Giving Spirit, can fill the need inside of you. He IS the reason we all were born.

      I'm amazed how people like you can take anything, any situation, that has NOTHING to do with religion and twist it into another generic, nonsensical religious statement. Do you ever see atheists constantly on CZcams or other sites constantly forcing their beliefs onto you? No, you don't. It's only the selfish people deluded enough to believe in an ancient religious fairytale who feel the need to bother everyone with their personal beliefs.
      Just stop it. It's rude, and NO ONE who isn't a religious nut wants to hear. Have respect for other people who may have other beliefs and stop forcing your personal bullshit on other people.

    • @billbillbillbill9457

      I think you need to read the Bible a bit more. The Bible is clear to state that Jesus came only for the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Matthew 15:24)...That redemption was only for those who sinned while being under the first covenant (Hebrews 9:15)...That Jesus came only to redeem those under the Old Covenant Law, i.e. ancient Israelites only (Galatians 4:5)...And that the adoption into Sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the Law, the worship and the promises ONLY BELONGED TO ANCIENT ISRAELITES (Romans 9:1-4). As far as the Holy Spirit goes, according to Rev.7:4 only the twelve tribes of Israel, the 144,000, were sealed with the Holy Spirit on the day of redemption in the first century and then the end came. If you don't believe the Bible, well, EXCUUUUUSE MEEEEEE!

      Steve Martin was hilarious here. If you felt the need to comment that you don't get it, you are literally too dumb to understand that you're bringing your brick sense of humor to light. And I guarantee that anything you post when it comes to what you consider funny will show just how typical you are.
