  • Supplements are an essential addition to a healthy diet, but it can be overwhelming trying to find one that's safe and effective. Have you ever wondered whether or not your supplements are actually doing anything? It's a valid question.
While some supplements have evidence-based research to back their proposed effects, others are just trying to sell you expensive (and potentially harmful) capsules.
So today, I'm talking all things supplements - including regulation, sourcing, and safety, and I'm sharing some tips on how to choose an effective, science-backed supplement!
As always, links to the research mentioned in this video are available on my website, Whitney E. RD: www.whitneyerd.com/2020/10/tr...

Just came across your channel and I love it! It’s so informative and I like that it’s based through a scientific approach. On the topic of supplements, it would be great to see a video on black seed oil. I’ve heard it can provide lots of benefits to your health and aid weight loss. It would great to hear your take on it.

Thanks, Whitney! Learned a lot about choosing the right supplements. What are your thoughts on excipient like magnesium stearate and silica dioxide? There are a lot of mixed reviews on this.
By the way, totally get your "Dr Actually-A-Chiropractor" joke! He's pretty famous on youtube!😂

I never depend on a bottle to educate me on the application of a supplement. That's homework that I do with research. What I do expect and rarely find out is EXACTLY what is in the capsule via third party test results.

How about some suggestions of brands that have all these things. It seems no one wants to give the good companies that meet these qualifications.

Please plzzz help!!! I’m down to 4 prenatal options well really two... ok here’s the thing, so I have Prenatal One by Rainbow Light and Prenatal + DHA by The Vitamin Shoppe, so these two I kind of automatically canceled out because they have folic acid. The other two have folate without any folic acid. The other two are Baby & me 2 by Megafood and Prenatal by Ancient Nutruition. Which these two was my final pick, but the Prenatal + DHA by The Vitamin Shoppe caught my attention with how much magnesium; it has 450mg none of these other brands have that much at all. Mega have none. Ancient have 28mg. Rainbow have 50mg. So I still feel all over the place with picking one. Can you please help. I would Really appreciate it.

Best interesting because I eat pretty much nothing but red meat and I don't need the supplement anything because I get everything I need from the red meat.
