    I like the fact that Carleton Handley not only programmed Spinning Image, but also the C64 version of Spitting Image back in the 80s.

    The #1 reason I watch this channel is because RGN is not fake, he doesn't try to blow smoke up anyone's ass, he doesn't try to get acceptance by claiming every bad game is good. If he wasn't critical of the bad games I wouldn't even watch.

    Coders Corner is such a great idea! I wonder if we could get some coding lessons going on later? Whatever is the answer - thank you co much!

    Coders corner despite being slightly overwhelming with the amount of knowledge and information that was given it was more than worth listening to.😊

    Thanks for the mention of System X. It may be sooner than 2026, it may be later. I'm sticking with it for the moment until I get to stage where most of the major routines are working and then I will decide whether I just stick with this project or switch back to Tiki. At the moment I'm making some good progress, so I've no desire to switch back for the next few weeks.

    Not too many games of interest this month, but I purchased Wilf and it's very solid. It's very simple, but well made at the same time. The upcoming Timo's Castle looks good, which I imagine will appear next month. Great work as always and Coders Corner is a nice additon. I have not interest in coding for the C64 or anything else to be honest, but I always that sort of stuff interesting. I do have interest in creating a game though. I bought Fusion about a year ago and haven't found the time to even install it, so I'm off to a rocky start.

    • @RetroGamerNation
      @RetroGamerNation  Před 11 dny +1

      Timo's Castle does look like a quality budget style game. I haven't been privy to any previews so I am looking forward to playing it. Like yourself, I also had the intention to learn how to code or at least produce gfx and purchased all the relevant tools but just haven't found the time and motivation to sit down properly and start learning.

    Thank you for another roundup, and for telling us about the new games. I feel bad for the developers when you opine that you won't play their efforts "a second time". Well, that's the world of criticism!
    The Coder's Corner is a welcome addition.

    • @RetroGamerNation
      @RetroGamerNation  Před 4 dny +1

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I don't enjoy highlighting games that are not worth playing for more than 10-15 minutes. But I do this in an effort to motivate each new release to be something better. If we just say that everything is good then what we end up with is a modern day scene with shovelware quality games.

      Interesting idea, I don't really have any contacts from older coders and based on the interviews that Freeze64 puts out with them, I am not sure they would be in a position to produce relevant content in a video format.

    Is it possible to buy the book from an other provider than Amazon? I would like to buy the e-book version of the 8-bit programmer book but it seems it is only available on Kindle :-'. Is there an e-pub version of it?

    czcams.com/video/tvi_xzZJ0HQ/video.html For the game Alpacalypse, there are things that have not been said. There is a selection of difficulty level settings. If you take the highest difficulty the loss of energy is greater when you hit an obstacle. Also, the game becomes difficult from the 3rd level where you must choose to be hit by the obstacle that gives the least damage to pass. I find that the conclusion does not take into account all the elements of the game, which shows that the game is tested in a hurry.

    • @RetroGamerNation
      @RetroGamerNation  Před 12 dny +1

      Sorry to say that the game was played through thoroughly and the additional items you refer to do not make it more enjoyable. Sometimes saying less about a game is better.

      Aah, that was it! I wondered why he did not mention Fort Apocalypse in the first game and thought, maybe he is only allowed to have one "heavly inspired" mention per video and he used that for this Bio-Shooter platform game, But if there is another game named "Alpacalypse" then everything is clear now ;-)

    fwiw I don't like the AI art. I'm generally not keen on it anywhere, but it's particularly out of place on a retro gaming channel. (unlike the excellent C64 pixel art in this video)

      Yes, I tend to agree with you on the AI images. It did stick out to me when reviewing the end edit.
