Perfect Scones Recipe for an Afternoon Tea

In today's video, I will show you an experience of one of the most traditional English cultural habits. Afternoon tea in the garden is trivial this time of the year in England, and this Scones recipe is so easy that I hope this video will inspire you to have a relaxing afternoon tea in your garden. Follow the recipe below 👇

ALL INGREDIENTS
Self-rising white flour - 500g
Unsalted butter - 50g
Caster sugar - 80g
Baking Powder - 4 tsp
Eggs - 2
Whole milk - 1 cup or 250ml
FILLING
Fresh Strawberry Jam (Jelly)
Fresh Clotted Cream

HOW TO MAKE THE SCONES
1. Preheat the oven while you prepare your scones.
2. Siff the white strong flour into a bowl. Cut the butter into little squares and add it to the bowl with the flour.
3. Mix the butter with the flour by rubbing it with your fingers gently until it turns into breadcrumbs. Try to avoid big lumps of butter.
4. Add the caster sugar and the baking powder and mix it all.
5. Add the two eggs and mix them gently with the dry ingredients.
6. Finally, pour half of the milk slowly as you mix the batter with the other hand. Keep mixing and add the rest of the milk. You want a soft and wet dough. Not solid, but also not pouring out liquidy.
7. Pour some flour on a surface to fold the dough. You don't need to knead the dough or stretch it, just fold it.
8. Flatten the dough about an inch. You can use a scone cutter or any cup with a diameter of around 60mm.
9. Before bringing it to the oven, you can brush your scones with either milk or egg. Eggs will bring a yellowy colour to your scones and milk will tan the surface.
10. Bake it at 200°C/392°F fan or 220°C/428°F gas.

only one teaspoon baking powder extra if you're using self raising flour;
double the butter, and use buttermilk in place of the milk; good luck
