i've seen enough diagnosed manic/depressive people in my life, they usually act way different, either literally crazy happy / wreckless, or completely floored and almost unable to talk.
highly doubt that this is a "simple" manic episode, but what do i know.

Interesting that when the topic of CTE comes up, the boxers around the table dismiss it instantly... seems like they're in denial. You can both say that CTE is a major risk in boxers and also carry on boxing, there's absolutely no shame in it. But to deny it's effects is mental, it's definitely a possible cause in Ryan Garcia's meltdown

Yeah totally agree it's why a lot of NFL players mentally breakdown at 26-29 and do crimes or just have a full on media shown meltdown. Especially if you're getting bombs thrown and landing on your skull loads of boxers that go the full 12 now might see more of these breakdowns unfortunately.
Denial of CTE is insane. Or to claim someone isn't old enough yet to have it?! Crazy. Someone could get clipped badly in sparring and have irreversible damage caused without them even realising. Add on top of that how many times boxers actually take hits to the head it's insane. And that will effect people in different ways as we ain't all built the same.

Disappointed a bit by Loz’s takes here, a man that isn’t mentally stable is a lot more vulnerable than a man in his late 50’s. Mike is great and tbh there’s questions over his mental health but he knows what he’s doing by going onto the fight, Ryan on the other hand might not have the autonomy to pull out when it’s clearly the best thing to do at this moment in time based off the evidence we have
Iv worked in medium secure mental health hospitals, when you are around people who are really struggling it’s a different thing. What they are going through, the delusions are as real to them as reality is to us, it’s not a joke
Nah. Not a big fan but he does make the big fights happen. Rather him be in the right head space than go out to the ring and risk potential injury.

This fight is gonna be a crash and burn. Within two years once Ryan has recovered Eddie will be managing him under matchroom! Like rising phoenix from the fire… 😂☝🏼

Same story. Guy was boxer to the bones, and everybody thought that he is new big thing. But guy was mentally sick and no one helped him when he needed it.
When people do big crimes, they often admit to things of a lower omission in order to deter people from the initial accusation. Ryan admitting to weed & alcohol seems like a clear deterrent from harder drugs use.
It would be a breath of fresh air to see Haney refuse to fight this form of Garcia. At least to we see a cleaner build up to the fight. People will give him a lot less props if he beats Garcia so it’s a lose lose for everyone.

Yes. If he's considered medically fit to fight, he should be free to fight. It's not our place to determine what his mental health is. There are medical experts for making those judgments.
Medical experts and commissions are in the pockets of the promoters. Too much money at stake for this fight. If the event continues, they should at least let fans that have already bought tickets get a refund if they choose to.

He claims he has evidence & is working behind the scenes to bring this evidence to light. Maybe he is. Maybe he isn't. I wouldn't know. With all the revelations we've had regarding Jimmy Savile, Jeffrey Epstein, Bohemian Grove rituals, Skull & Bones, etc. Such claims aren't outside the realm of possibility. He obviously has had a meltdown right after the divorce and the defeat, and ultimately decided to speak up. Something happened to him, he was suffering from depressive periods in the past which can easily steam from childhood trauma. Going into binges etc is also very characteristic of childhood trauma. Not sure if he is telling from the factual “truth”, or just his perception of things. It could be something serious and dark going on, or mental issues. Either way, I tend to believe that something happened to him, and in that case it takes balls to speak up. Best of luck for Ryan.
