You made it yourself difficult. There is a simple setting so the wipers go in the upwards position. Give it a try. Turn on ignition (before start engine) Turn ignition off and push down the wiper handle like you would just do 1 wipe. They will go up and you can easily remove both standing on 1 side of the car. Also makes cleaning the windows a lot easier.
