This car single handedly saved muscle cars. This was before your time but in ‘05 it was the last man standing. There would have been no retro style challenger, charger, Camaro etc without this car.Then Ford perfected the s197 look in 13-14. I got a 13 grabber blue like yours. Gen 3 aluminator, whipple on e85. Fun car.

Correction: 05-09 got the looks, only post s197 models got the Coyote, only advantage over early ones
Um, 11, 12, 13 and 14’s were s197’s and also came with the coyote.
I’ll assume you already know that and just worded it poorly.
That's probably true, because the big threes other retro offerings, like the Plymouth Prowler and the Ford Thunderbird did not excite the public enough to buy in large numbers. After the Mustang GT, we got the Ford GT, a Volkswagen Beetle, amongst other cars, and the response to the Dodge Challenger has been just as insane.
When I first got my S197 Mustang, a silver GT, I had celebrity status for about the first year. Cops would pull me over going too fast, but then just to talk to me about the car, I would get free stuff from people and people in other cars would pump their fists in the air and cheer as I passed.
I never thought 2005 through 2010 would be the good old days, but it was f****** great living through them with my Mustang GT! Quite the experiences to have as a young person!
As a boosted S550 owner I don’t understand why 3 valves get so much hate. They came out in 2005. Of course they won’t be like what’s available today. They are plenty quick. 0 to 60 in roughly 5 sec and they sound great. Plenty of power to have fun. And they are reasonably reliable. Not the fastest but again they are from 2005 and still fun.
Because they compare it directly with newer coyotes even though they cost a fraction of the price. Nobody ever factors that in lol. You can throw boost on it and pull alot of lightly modded coyotes out there running around. With the right setup you could even keep up with boosted gen 1 coyotes. It isn't always about peak rwhp. It's about how fast your car is thats what matters and you can make a pretty quick car out of a 3v without spending a fortune.
Its refreshing to hear someone with common sense...
Comparison with coyote and Mopars now being as popular as these were in 05.

because people are stupid and have to hate on everything on god's green earth. I drove mine today, the car is fine nothing wrong with it.
My sister’s ex had a 09 GT with the glass roof. They were dating when I was young, so i was always wanting to ride in it and it inspired me to get into mustangs. I know own a deep impact blue 14 5.0.
That is a clean looking car. The 3V may not be the most powerful, but it sounds very good. Put an exhaust on it, it'll be sweet. Maybe some LEDs too.
It's called mods. People don't keep coyotes stock why should someone keep a 3v stock? You can make it quick and fun without spending a fortune contrary to popular belief.

I have a 18 Coyote and must say the 3V is underrated
I'm not going to lie! I regret selling my 3v, it sounded great and looked great!
I have a 07 4.6 auto. I love it came with projectors and sequentials, roush intake and exhaust. Sounds amazing and gets allot of looks
I had a 09 with ported and polished heads. FRPP intake. Hot rod cams. Full bolt on. Not to mention all the normal suspension goodies. But I sold it to buy my 09 GT500. But it was a fun car. Oh yeah also had 4.10 gear. I had a 20x10 rear so wanted more low end grunt. Actually surprised some of my buddies with gen1 coyotes.
Bro I had a manual Silver 05 GT but with all black leather. I bought with 70k miles from an old man and it was such an amazing car put 70k miles on it and it never left me stranded once! Unfortunately I sold it… regret

The 4.6 liter engine is a great engine as long as you don't over mod it reliability wise the 4.6 is a perfect daily driver.
Shoot mine got Paxton 2200 kit from bremspeed, Detroit rockers cams, looks long tube with h pipe

The S197 body style and look is hard not to recommend to someone. The styling being reminiscent to the 60’s style is unquestioned. I just purchased a similar car (2006 GT with 14,000 miles) and I love it.
I’m thinking of getting one bc I always loved the body style since it came out. There’s one near me for 8k

Those are legendary. My friend have one since 2012 and still driving till this day but he's been driving his dad 900hp 2017 CS GT Whipple charged lately. I have a 2016 RS now. I'll do a race video when I hit my car back to the states.
Dude these cars make good power when you mod them I was really impressed with how strong my 07 was after headers cams cai tune.
Mine has kooks long tube xpipe pipes exhaust 373 gears steeda underdrive pulleys cold air intake kit with a custom tune and at 206k miles she has been reliable and fun to drive. It has a automatic in it and super consistent and fun at the track. Can't sleep on these cars with the right mods and tuning they will run.

I had my 06 gt since 1/2/2011 Only needed an alternator since.... Love it as I am also the third owner.
Love it! My 3V is in the shop tho...thermostat housing cracked for the 3rd time. Time to get rid of the plastic ones I guess.

I got a 07 gt and cams cai headers one piece drive shaft tune it runs really great I’m 340 rwhp. Not 600 but really a good fun number.

i got an 07 gt, cams, shaker hood, shorty headers with a slp exhaust system and tuned on 93 octane. not the fastest thing on the road forsure but dam is it fun!!
Your boy missing 3rd gear in his 3V is a common problem with the TR3650 in these cars and is called high rpm lockout and the cause is because of the remote shifter in these cars. I bought a Blowfish V2 Manual Transmission Shifter Support Bracket for my Kenne Bell '06 and never missed a shift after installing it. Unfortunately, they're hard to find now since American Muscle stopped selling them. The shift bracket moves the stock remote shifter to a direct mount on the transmission. You might want to consider upgrading to either an MGW or Barton short throw shifter also. I have a Barton on mine and absolutely love it. Another weak point on these transmissions is the input shaft which comes with a 10-spline shaft. You're going to want to upgrade to a 26-spline input shaft when you're ready to upgrade your clutch - I have a McLeod RST Twin Disc with a lightweight flywheel . I destroyed several input shafts when my horsepower numbers started to reach closer to my current 500rwhp / 453 wtq. I would also like to recommend STEEDA Performance parts when you're ready to upgrade your suspension. They actually race what they sell and you can't go wrong with their parts. Good Luck with that 3V.
I just bought a 09 GT 3weeks ago i love this car its my first Mustang 99,589mi manual trans. It might not be the fastest but i still love it. Now im trying to figure what's the best mods for it so i can squeeze more power out of it. Anyone have any advice?

3v is the best drove 2011 5.0 and my cammed 06 3v at the same time, I always found myself in the 3v driving it more than the 5.0

@@midnight347 Probably because there just aren't as many around. Ford should have made an upper tier V8 with them but that probably would've eaten away at the Shelbys.
@JordanSVT the coyote is basically the same thing just the newer evolution of it. Kind of like lt engines to ls engines similar to that.

I’d highly recommend a 3V to anyone. May not make as much power NA in todays standards but they make plenty of power to have fun with. And plus if you start feeling frisky, you can build the engine for fairly cheap if you do it yourself and hit some high horsepower numbers

Paxton/Vortech, VMP, and most other brands sell the whole kit together.
I have a 2010 3v . Had and 05 3v before this . Although I think the 3v sounds way better than coyotes . I’m still coyote swapping my 10 because of the newer body 😂

You should get a high mileage 3v and build it from the ground up. The content your would have would be endless, and there's so many of us out there. Most people don't show their build of a 3v, ( maybe four eyes and he has some videos of over a million views) so you could bring us all together 😉.
Is it worth building a high mileage 3V? Mine is pushing 200k miles right now and it’s completely stock.
@@chrisaguirre1228 That's completely up to you. DBP is in a different situation having a very popular mustang channel. He could have endless modifications ( including pulling the motor to be forged. Plus this a business for him. He can write off and the mods as production cost of making the videos. Ifyou love the body style and don't mind putting a lot of money into it, then go for it.
@@terrywalker9092 I understand what you’re saying man. The first s197 is my favorite body style of any mustang (clearly biased though). It’d definitely be cool to see him do it, especially since he can build it much faster and more professionally thanks to his current financial standing. I also don’t see a lot of pure 3V builds, they usually get a 5.0 swap. Anyway I appreciate the response.

Hurst or Steeda can fix that shifting problem! LOL! This car is bad a$$ and is in showroom quality! I have a low mileage 01 newedge still in excellent condition and even though i'm busting a move on the new Dark Horse this next year, my newedge will remain in the garage right next to the new stallion. That 05 was a great find Derek and old boy should be proud of her! Keep her,take care of her and make her better! Few more years and that things a classic!

Oh I have 3.90 gears and carbon fiber clutches in the diff. Tranny is my weak point. Rear end will be when the supercharger goes back in.
