    Hey Chycho, any chance you could make a video grading some of your collection? Walking us through your thoughts whilst you grade?
    Thanks

      I actually plan on it but it'll be a while yet, I need to make a few other videos as prep before I can get to those. The wait should be worth it though :)

    I was never adept in mathematics in school, I believe if I had a teacher like this I would have taken much more interest in the subject. Awesome video.

      I had some really good science and history teachers and I usually did get an ASMR response from a lot of them. I mean obviously they were good, informative teachers that really helped you consider topics and link them to everyday life, but I think that ASMR trigger may have helped me focus in many cases

    Chycho I'm glad to see another comic book haul video they are definitely my favorite. To speak on the global shipping program I would say that Ebay has made many mistakes over the years but their global shipping program is by far the worst. I used it one time and then opted out and never used it again. I sold three photos to one of my customers in France and it cost him an additional $40 US to get them from customs. He was livid to say the least and I almost lost him. I had to give him a refund to help make up for the cost of shipping. Using that program turns off customers to buying internationally not to mention it gives so many people along the way the chance to open your package and mess with the contents and they never put it back the way it was when they got it. Sellers who use the global shipping program are using it to save themselves a few bucks. For instance if I was shipping you a comic book from the US to Canada using first class shipping it might cost a total of about $8.00 or $9.00 US with no additional customs charge to you. Using the global shipping it would cost me about $4.00 US and then you an additional $15.00 or $20.00. I always ship for free inside the US but charge whatever the over and above would be to ship outside the US and it doesn't cost my customers any additional cash at all. If I were someone outside the US I would never buy from anyone using global shipping it's a huge rip off and honestly comes across as a massive scam.

      So glad that you agree, Eddy, and you brought on a very good point, more people handling the books means more possibility of damage, which is what happened to the Quantum and Woody books that I bought.
      I personally can't believe that sellers continue to use the service (promote the ebay scam). I can't even tell you how many auctions I've wanted to bid on that I didn't since they were using ebay's global shipping program, and just so they can save themselves a few bucks. So silly. There have been books that I was willing to pay 5 times as much as they went for but didn't bid on them because I didn't have faith that the books would get to me undamaged. The only reason that I ended up placing a bid Mystic #6 was because it was CGC and it would be protected, i.e., they couldn't do too much damage to it because of the slabbing (so I hoped anyway).
      Thanks for the reply by the way, I just couldn't understand why sellers would willingly use a service that is losing them customers. Glad I basically stopped buying from them. I hope more people stop using it as well.

    Thank you for this video. I did ask you a while back what your basic thoughts on 3rd party grading (slabbing) was, particularly since you hadn't (to my knowledge mentioned as yet). And based on what you said in *this* video your thoughts are consistent: At the time you indicated that you were not particularly into slabbing books (personally) but at the same time were understanding of why people do it and didn't necessarily think badly of it. Aside from purchasing slabbed book now (and then) do you submit books yourself these days? Thank you again!

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 6 lety

      It's my pleasure, oboeguy, for sure there is a need for it and at some point I will send in some books to be graded, I haven't yet though. I would rather spend the funds on more books :)

    Let us know when you put some of.your graded books on sale. I only buy cgc and alot of others also like cgc more. Their presentation and quality of their slabs, labels, logo and hologram are just A+ to me. I suggest you going the CGC route bz it'll help you sell your books at a higher dollar and quicker as well

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      Agreed that CGC gets a higher price, in general, but I think CBCS is getting recognized more as a very good grading company. We'll see what happens over time but right now for me I would be willing to grade both with CGC and CBSC.... I do stay away from PGX though, read and heard some not so good things about them.

      chycho sounds good let us know when you put some of your books on eBay. Btw did you see that interview Complex did with Todd Mcfarlen recently?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      I just looked it up, no I hadn't seen it. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll try and give it a watch later.
      The first interview I saw of McFarlane was back in 1991 on a local TV show in Ontario called "Prisoners of Gravity". Here is one of the the interviews if you're interested, he was a young and cocky guy: czcams.com/video/O9YemauGe8Q/video.htmlm58s ...he made other appearances in the show as well but I'm not sure in which episodes. They are all worth watching though.
      On that note, here is a video I put together, just in case you haven't seen it, about Prisoners of Gravity, recommending it as probably the best Comic book related show that I have ever seen: czcams.com/video/xc3ItzLxYRE/video.html

    • @ChonkySlotDonkey
      @ChonkySlotDonkey Před 7 lety +1

      chycho that's awesome I'll watch it. Ya this latest one with complex is awesome he's obviously more matured and really reflective. Really awesome to see inside the mind and the path one of the greats took. Cheers man!

    Why is Sandman so collectible and such a classic?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 6 lety +1

      Aside from it being an amazing story and world being created, with amazing art, and taking an older character and totally revamping and redefining it just like Alan Moore did with Swamp Thing, it was very unique for its time along with a handful of other titles one of which was Hellblazer. That, and it made Niel Gaiman's what he is today, it was his breakout work, like Daredevil and Batman were for Frank Miler. Well or the read.

    • @JohnSmith-pl7hy
      @JohnSmith-pl7hy Před 6 lety

      Sandmans probably one of the best and coolest comic storys out there. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a tv series soon effecting the price as well. Especially with all the shows neil gaiman has coming out.
