    Nothing gets me more pumped than when Chycho uploads a new comic haul. That Azzarello/Chiang Wonder Woman run is my personal favourite DC run.

      Nice! Good to know. It looks like a lot of people are calling it the definitive Wonder Woman run so I'm really excited to read it. Very happy about this buy :)

    I looooove that WW run. That + the Justice League cartoon made me a fan of hers for life.

      Love the JL cartoons, sooo good... that and Batman from the mid 90's. As for this Azzarello run, very much looking forward to the marathon read.

    My favourite WW run is by George Perez and i really like the current run by Greg Rucka.
    Always great to see a new comic book haul video.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety

      Cool. I've read a lot of George Perez and I'm pretty sure I've read some of his work on WW back in the day, don't remember too much from them though. I've also heard great things about the Rebirth WW. Picked up the first few issues but didn't get around to reading them... wish there was more time in a day to kick back and read all the books we have on our reading lists... at least we have a lot of great reads for our golden years :)

      By the way, thanks for sticking around. I really appreciate it and it's really nice having some old-school subs still here. Shows me that I'm doing something right and staying true to my original purpose. Fun :))

    The current run of Wonder Woman has been very good from Rebirth onwards and is definitely worth checking out. I'm loving Cliff Chiang's work on Paper Girls for Image at the moment too.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety

      I've heard great things about WW Rebirth as well, most of Rebirth actually. As for Paper Girls, it's fantastic. I read the first three issues and added it to my pull list. Haven't read any since but I'm glad that they are there and one day I'll do the marathon read on them... once I put it all together that is :)

    Oh goodness Chycho...just got back home from a long weekend spent out of town on business. This video looks to be a highlight of my evening! Going to make some dinner and sit down to enjoy this. Thanks for all you do. One of these days I'll have to make a video to show you the books I've been able to collect since I started around a year ago. Hope you are well, peace and love brother :)

      Thanks, Gerry, I hope you enjoy the evening with an awesome meal and some nice downtime. I know our lives can be quite hectic so it's a pleasure to take some of that away.
      As for a collection video, would love to see it. I found my first real couple of years of collecting incredibly overwhelming and chaotic but incredibly fun. Still have much of what I bought back them so it would be cool to see what you've amassed so far.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      Hello from Victoria :)
      As for my graphic novels, they're sparse and randoms mainly since I'm a single issue collector. I either buy them on the cheap, 50% off or $2 a pop if I can get them, or I buy the stories that I really want to read. For example, I recently bought the Rachel Rising omnibus which I've almost finished. Great read if you like horror.
      That said, when I get a little more organized I'll put together a graphic novel video and separate them into what I've read, what I plan on reading, and what I bought as a random. Would be fun to get organized on that level.

    Watching your videos makes me want to get into comic books. I really love the art. Would like make a video request; I think you going into detail about your favorite covers would be amazing.
    Thanks a lot for making these! :)

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety

      Love the art as well. There is nothing like a great story told with images, great panel work, and text to match. As for a video of my favorite covers, that would be a very long video, or a series, that's for sure. Could be done though. I could break them up into decades and go from there... hmmm... let's say you've planned a seed.
      Just on that note, my all time favorite cover, or at least in my top 5 is Demon #12 by Simon Bisley, 1991. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it on the racks and haven't stopped since.

    after reading valiant I haven't even picked up Marvel/DC they're on a whole different level

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +2

      I only now pick up the random Marvel or DC and don't have any in my pull list, except for Justice League just because of Lobo, and I haven't even read it yet. Once you go Valiant you'll never go back to Marvel or DC, not as a contained universe to follow anyway. They are publishing some of the greatest stories about superheros that have ever been published, and it doesn't look like they will be stopping anytime soon.

    @eddya.3776 Před 7 lety +2

    Hey Chycho it sounds like you bought that lot from a US based seller which means that he ate his profits selling those lots to you because international shipping from the US is ridiculous now. Once the weight of the box reaches a certain amount you have no choice but to ship via Priority Mail as comics are not allowed to be shipped via media mail. Some sellers still use media mail to ship comics but if the USPS searches their package the buyer will be charged the difference. I sell a huge amount of stuff on EBAY and stopped selling everything but photographs internationally because the costs are too high unless you're a gold or platinum level power seller. If that's the case you receive massive shipping discounts. While I do a lot of business on EBAY I'm not quite at that level yet. Obviously that seller was unaware what could happen if someone from another country bought multiple lots from him and you were quoted a shipping price as if you lived in the US. The poor guy had no other options but to ship Priority International and $70 plus sounds about right. USPS is a joke at this point. Regardless Chycho great haul and video as usual.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety

      Thanks Eddy, and thank you for the info about the shipping. I had no idea you guys were not allowed to ship comics via media mail anymore. That's probably why I've been blown away by the shipping costs for the last little while. They've been auctions I've wanted to bid on but couldn't because of shipping costs. I thought it was just the sellers trying to max their profits. Wonder why they did this? And here I thought shipping in Canada was insane.
      I'll keep this in mind for my future bids. It's too bad really, I've seen comics go for way less then what they would if I, and I'm pretty sure others from outside the US could bid for them. Much more. Good for US buyers though.

    • @eddya.3776
      @eddya.3776 Před 7 lety +1

      They did it because they have us over a barrel lol. The USPS is leaking money like an old tractor leaks oil so instead of trimming the fat they hit the ones that use their service in the pockets a bit harder. You can't use FedEx except for larger items because they are more expensive and forget UPS because they just suck in fact the only thing UPS doesn't suck at is leaving your package on the street in front of your house without ringing your doorbell or leaving it at the wrong address. What can brown do for you? I'll tell ya, they can make sure you never get your stuff.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety

      lol... sounds pretty much the same as here in Canada. Services cut, prices jacked up, and no options. Crazy. When 50% of the cost of getting a package is shipping you know that those in charge are clueless.
      Thanks again, good to know what's going on. I guess the trick is to find a couple of good sellers and buy large lots from them, which is basically what I've been doing for the last couple of years.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +5

      For sure, Nicky, and sorry about the delay in the readings. Since I've moved I've been busy cleaning up the space and trying to set aside an area so I can sit down with my gear and do the readings. I'm almost there. They will probably start in about 4 more videos, so in about a couple of weeks. From then on the majority of the vids being uploaded will be readings with a few randoms, especially for ASMR Math thrown in.

    As always very nice haul! I think that these comics are bagged & boarded at less than $1,50 per issue makes the deal even sweeter. Oh, and don't forget to buy Brian Azzarello's "Spaceman" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaceman_(comics) if there's any convenient occasion. It's a great series! Those 4001 Rai covers (25:45) are indeed eye catchers :-)

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      As always, brother, thanks for the heads-up on Spaceman. I knew of it before but totally forgot about it, adding it to my watch list now.
      The Rai's, for sure, they are beautiful, some of my favorite Valiant covers of all time. It was a 4-issue matching set from #13 to #16.
      As for this buy, definitely very happy with it, all of them being bagged and boarded was just a beautiful bonus :))

    • @FrF
      @FrF Před 7 lety +1

      A quick internet search shows that 100 b & b cost around 20 $. Don't underestimate bags & boards, dear readers :-) And here's another comic with outstanding covers: imagecomics.com/comics/releases/mirror-1 It's funny that I've admired "Mirror" and its covers since the series started but I haven't actually read it! Sorry to sing the praises of yet another comic but the wonderful "Injection" by Warren Ellis & Declan Shelvey starts with a new story arc on March 15th. And I'm still very excited about Gerard Way's "Doom Patrol"!

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      For sure, bags and boards do drive up the price of collecting, must be done though. As for Mirror, I picked up the first couple of issues but like many other books didn't get around to reading them. So many good books out there to read from the indies - other than DC and Marvel, even though they do have some nice titles to offer :)

    Hey Chycho, I love your videos. Been watching them for a long time and I have a kind of silly question. I've just now noticed that you're always looking to the right of the camera instead of into it. What's up with that?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      haha... nice catch. It's not always but it is most of the time. The reason is that I have the cameras screen showing me the frame that I'm shooting, and since my work is pretty much solo and I usually have a lot of stuff going on in the frame, I look at the screen to make sure it all shows up and looks good.

      chycho I've never noticed that until it's just been pointed out, but thinking about it I prefer it over people staring directly at the camera. It's got a cool feel of someone being interviewed and looking at the interviewer and not the camera

    • @chycho
      @chycho  Před 7 lety +1

      Cool, that's good to know. I do like watching what's happening on the screen as well. Helps me to have a good feel for the scene. hence the mood. I think maybe that's part of the reason why my vids tend to feel personal, they make me smile and even crack me up at time :)
