    I would like to talk about the false king. They already told us Reiss was the real royal. So I guess he put a fake in his place so no one knows he's the real one. He can then do shady things without anyone knowing. Only the people in the room know because they seem to be following him. If we are talking about security, this is not a bad decision. If someone wants to attack the king, the real one risks nothing.

      @roryreviewer6598 Před 3 měsíci +3

      Ya, a lot of people get confused about this aspect of the show. They think the fake king represents like a separate faction against Reiss or something, but this is exactly right how you said it.

      Yeah, that only clicked I think in their discussion about the bloodlines being uneffected by memory and that being the reason for them being the council families. Really nicely written. =)

    Government getting bloated is exactly what happened in Argentina
    Milei slashed so many government jobs that they achieved an surplus for the first time in a long time.
    Im really interested what direction he will take Argentina

      Yes, I am curious for that. I think in these cases things get worse for a short while before bettering, though, but I am no expert.

    I didn't touch on it the first time you reacted to the name King Fritz, but Friedrich II of Preußen was nicknamed 'der Alte Fritz' so the name doesn't seem that weird to me.

    Great discussion & analysis! No need to apologize for the ramblings, your input is very informative!! I will say that when I first watched AoT, I was spoiled on Eren & Annie being titans. So while the Titan storyline of season 1 was interesting to me as the main draw, I was much more interested in the background politics of the world inside the walls. Why history was suppressed, why no one knew anything about the outside world, & why the internal government was so controlling? It would be years before those questions would be answered, but the wait was well worth it. The anime does a good job of condescending the lore from
    The manga, but there is so much more detail that was left out for time. I highly recommend going back & checking out this portion or the story from the manga whenever you have free time.

    This chapter is much longer in the AOT manga. The anime studio decided to remove parts of the story so that viewers don't feel overwhelmed by the politics and become bored. If you want to experience the complete story, you can read the manga after finishing the AOT anime. :)

    Differences from the manga:
    Manga:
    Beaure convinces Roy to help the Survey Corps with the coup.
    Hange is accompanied by Hitch and Marlowe to her meeting with Levi.
    Eren has visions of him with the young woman while awake, which occurred after having passed out for a day due to the poor results of the experiments.
    Anime:
    Flegel is the one who convinces Roy to help the Survey Corps with the coup d'état.
    Moblit is the one who accompanies Hange to meet Levi.
    The visions of the woman appear during Eren's dreams, a few seconds before he wakes up in the crystal cavern.

    Risking your life for your country is a very cultural thing. I view it as protecting your way of life, your culture. In my country when you fight for your country, you basically fight for your childhood memories.

    What you described about the different political parties becoming homogenized is pretty much what's been happening here in Sweden as well.
    However, that trend is shifting as of late.
    The party that tells the truth and focuses on actual solutions (and of course gets called nazis for it by their opponents) have been steadily gaining support until they're now the 3rd largest party, and that seems to have made the rightwing parties realize that they actually do need to have an identity of their own and not just ape whatever sounds good at the time.

    • @storieswithstyle
      @storieswithstyle  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, i think I agree with all your points! I think the problem is more "that" they are incompetent, not that they are ill intentioned. I also believe they all think they do what is right. =) A lot of very insightful ideas you but forth, especially the complexity part. I think that is why competence is so imprortant, to solve complex issues. =)

      @@storieswithstyle EXACTLY!
      I’m going to use the example from this episode.
      Leaving refugees out could be the right thing to do, considering everything Erwin said; and that’s just the surface. For example look at the underground city where levi was born. Sina is so crowded that it couldn’t handle everyone and there’s no time to make more underground cities.
      So, as they said, leaving refugees out could be A right thing to do.
      And that’s my point, there’s never THE RIGHT THING but a bunch of right and wrong choices. The whole problem is some originality wrong choice could get right if it’s executed in the right way and the opposite also happens.
      First problem with those guys from the council is they were shocked, answered too fast and by selfish they had no way to make it right.
      It is very hard to plan and execute and it is even worse in a case like this. The intention can be selfish or the complete opposite (it doesn’t really matter, and that’s key).
      Lets say they would redirect the refugees to the other side city of wall rose, or any of the remaining three. The scouts would have time to fix the wall and clean the area. Wall sina wouldn’t get overwhelmed by people and it wouldn’t take so much time or lives.
      So in the end it could be a right choice if the plan was right
      They judged them for their incompetence to make such an elaborated plan being shocked and having less than 5 minutes.
      Were they incompetent? Probably some of them, that’s how our world works.
      And I’m sure you can get this example the episode told and find some quite close moments in history where the government was taken by the military forces because they thought it was acting against the country or its people.
      I’m from Spain so we have sooo many coup d’etat for similar reasons.
      I love how this story explains so brilliantly different history periods surrounding the themes of politics, conflicts… this episode started the crossfrom the modern era to the present era (it is a very soft version of the french revolution but I think it is very clear about what it meant)
      So everytime I think of some politician I try to remember I couldn’t do that job even they’re not Cicero and I think about what’s behind their choices.
      If I consider they’re doing what’s best for the country and the people I will agree even it’s not the best option. I also try to understand why they do it. I know most of them are not selfless but I really respect someone who loves their city, region or country and want it to improve even they’re not too good at their job because I think they will try better next times.

      I also think local politicians are a lot less corrupt than higher ones. Thomas are more tangible on the local level

    • @DorianMauleon
      @DorianMauleon Před 2 měsíci

      @@storieswithstyle i would say local ones are even more in a smaller scale. They have way less risk and less reward. In the emd politics is the art of getting and keeping power and that’s way easier to succeed in a village or a city rather than a country
