I think a lie is an attempt to deceive, not just saying something that isn't true. If there's no intent to deceive then it isn't a lie, therefore stories aren't lies unless the attempt is to trick someone. Similarly, if someone says something they believe to be true but it isn't, that's still not a lie because they genuinely believed it. They're just wrong, not a liar.

Attack on Titan rarely mentions specific numbers without a purpose, be it to specify/clarify the timeline, or something else that would lead to a payoff that will blow the minds of anyone who has learned the 4 basic math operations in grade school. The one specific number mentioned in this episode that fits those is the "10 months". Historia looks like she is about to give birth, and 10 months is basically around a month of planning + 9 months of pregnancy. Which leads credence to Pixis' accusations to Yelena that she has indeed planned something with The Jaegers, and Historia is involved in it.

You could have seen Louise in ep 4x07 "Assault" She even has a line: "Ah!"

Its important to remember, as good an idea as the Sovereignty of the Individual is, its actually a new idea, relatively speaking. The "Individual" is a result of the enlightenment primarily, which is only a few hundred years old. Humans have had a million years of evolution reinforcing blind prejudice, stereotyping, groupthink, and tribalism. Those ideas are built into us, but the Divine Individual is a brand new idea. The "problem" with Gabi is that she was so brainwashed by Marleyan propaganda that she had no problem labeling as devils the people from Paradis because of the sins of their ancestors, but the fact that Marley was doing the exact same thing to the rest of the world was never a problem for her. Marley is the perfect image of the hypocrisy: they overthrow the eldian empire, but only to take their place and repeat the same, if not worse, atrocities. And yet, the monsters were the Eldians... Power of brainwashing and narcissism.

Sasha‘s death is properly used for Gabi. Marco's death is properly used for Jean.But Ymir's death is not that used for Historia,sad for her.

Wow, I haven't read the Dune books but when I saw the second movie it reminded me so much of what Attack on Titan made me feel, which was great, it's incredible that someone who did read the books also recognized it.

I think that Erwin is a great character for taking away that idealism from the soldiers, he did nothing for Eldia, what he did was to know the truth until Levi orders him to abandon that selfish dream that made them go so far so that he sacrifices his life for his companions as so many did for him

When Sasha was a trainee, she felt a sense of inferiority on her accent, Ymir and Historia cheered her up. I forgot I get it from reading manga or watching tv show.

Besides Levi, Floch was the only one who heard Erwin’s speech before they charged the beast titan and survived. His character motivation is influenced by that moment very much imo.

I think Reiner heard Kabi and Falco's voice from episode 7. He woke up and was punched by Eren, knocking him out again.

Something I just noticed on this rewatch is that Gaby sees herself as already dead. She doesn't want to live anymore. She is basically going through a "killing spree" until she gets killed. Thats why she told Falco she is sorry he came, as he didn't want him to die too.

We live in michigan which has never had slaves and fought for their freedom. Gabi's writing as a character is so underrated in Attack On Titan. I would argue if you are able to understand and appreciate her, then you would be able to appreciate most of Season 4. And yes, Floch is projecting his trauma and insecurity experienced in Shiganshina onto his current role in the story. Another well-written character, even though I vehemently disagree with his worldview and ideology.

I think this (and the next) is actually one of my favorite episodes in all, just because of all the parallels and reversals of past story beats/themes. Also I just love what Isayama did with the Sasha and Gabi dynamic in this and the next episode.

I hadn't thought of her death as "well used" before but that's very apt. A lot of times characters in fiction die and it's for a single emotional moment and, if anything else, some kind of motivating event for other characters. Sasha's death ties in so many different character and story arcs, it's really impressive.

King Floch knows for sure he is living spare time, but he has to carry their dead comrades wishes and secure a future and prosperity for his ppl !!

The Braus family having a Southern Marleyan accent indicates that they are descended from people from Southern Marley. During the height of the Eldian Empire, they conquered other nations and mixed with them, so it’s likely that many of the people that were led inside the walls of Paradis are mixed blooded Eldians with other people like Marleyans. This shows the audience that our hatred of people based on race and ethnicity are foolish since we have more in common than we assume.

The Southern Marleyan accent thing was because it sounded similar to how rural people of Marley talked and stuff, I mean it is just a nice addition the author made to hint to Gabi that people inside the walls were not different from those outside, they even kept the same language etc.

Kaya’s level-headedness and understanding here really enhances the shock of her later reactions. I think I’ve said it too many times already, but the use of minor character’s stories is so good sometimes it adds more to the story than some of the main cast.

Reiner blacked out when he transformed to save Galliard from Eren, then he blacked out again and then woke up there, so the voices he was talking about was when he transformed to save Galliard and fight Eren, so it just a brief moment of consciousness, so he was reffering to that time at the port.

Historia was supposed to give birth after eating Zeke, so in a way she got pregnant earlier than she should, that why people were mad about that in a fucked up way.
