I bet I could get some good pickups and make it sound exactly the same if not better and it'd be much more cheaper overall than $1,800. Fender is usually what I call the "Apple of Electric Guitars"
@@UniqueUsername420And while in there upgrading the pickups, upgrade the wiring to thicker better shielded wire helps with electrical noise. You could also do the wiring mod with the stock pickups to possibly hear a difference.
For what you get the donner is a crazy good deal especially the dst 152 with the coil tap push pull. Insane good deal. Even if you own 5000$ customshop. It's under 200$!!! I've spent more on one pickup. 😂
Very true statement. I think as a beginner it's a no brainer to go with a cheaper guitar and then if you really want to get serious with it you can invest in a more expensive guitar if you feel you even need to
I am as far from an audiophile as possible. To my dumb ears, the highs are almost identical. But there is more depth to the notes in the mid and lower frequency.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of Donner. They just white label stuff from china. You can buy this stuff on those whole sale sites for significantly less (Reason why I don't work with them any more). Might even take this video down to be honest
its all about the materials, but the difference in sound is not night and day, and you would have to have the same type of strings to properly judge which I assume you did
I feel like the money in the music industry is like money in the car industry. They all move, but the higher the price the more comfortable it is suppose to be. The donner and fender are cut almost exactly the same, so anyone that has a capicity for taking out screws can replace the tuning mechs, upgrade the single coils and other misc an the quality of sound would be in par with each other. It would be a little harder for neck or fret mods for the average joe, BUT if you bought a donner, for 180, thats an excelent guitar to begin expermenting in luther tech
180$ sounds good, but i prefer fender, btw, donner also has a good sound like fender sound too...not too much difference between donner and fender, both sound good...
The Fender has a crisper sound but for $180 to get into playing, it's hard to be mad at the DST-152. Sure it doesn't sound as nice and crispy but back 10 years ago you couldn't get a fair guitar like this for under $350-500.
Honestly I don't have much of opinion on these cuz I am much more of an acoustic player, BUT I am very curious about how these might 'age'. Will the fender only get better and better with tone over the years as it's played? Will the DST tone start to dim and sound cheap as time goes on? Im curious
I prefer fender $1800 better built quality, playability, comfort, materials and electronics etc. but Donner one is perfect if you know how to make it feel, play, and sound better. If you are a beginner and sure you wanna learn like a pro, I suggest you buy a pro quality guitar, easy to play and it feels good on the hands.
It doesn't have as much to do with sound as much as it does Tuning, Durability/Reliability, Intonation and how it overall feels in your hands. Donner sounds good but isn't worth a damn if it doesn't stay in tune all the way around the board.
You so right about this. Crazy how technology has improved over the years. I think the only real difference will be longevity. The Fender is probably sourcing better material and will last longer (decades)
The donner’s pickup output is just a lot higher and hotter honestly. Anyone that thinks they like the donner better just likes the pickup configuration more. Increase the pickup height on the fender and I guarantee you you’ll be preferring that one instead.
Lol and now your talking about having to mod/ set up a $1800 dollar guitar to make it sound better than $180. Point is the Fender should sound like so much better but it does not. I'd rather save the money get the Donner and upgrade that one as I go to a partscaster and have it sound better in the end than the Fender SSS while still saving $$$
Electricity works the same. I have a donner and 40 year old fender. The fender is older. The donner is newer, but it plays better. Let's see how long my donner last. When I first got my donner, I had to file down one of the frets, but that's it.
The cheap one can be modified without worry of messing it up. Put in Fender pickups and it'll sound the same. The real question is how the neck and fretboard feels. I heard these come with a electronic tuner, a small battery powered amp and a strap and case and picks. You cannot beat that deal. You gotta realize back in my time a good guitar cost thousands. Cheap guitars at the department stores were junk! Terrible warped necks and uneven frets and horrible amps. I still have my 62 strat reissue I bought in 1985. But I play my Firefly LP more. The technology is incredible nowadays. I wish I had what you guys have now back when I was a kid. Oops forgot to say I still have a 77 telecaster with dual humbuckers all original with case and a 72 twin reverb. I gotta brag about the telecaster. Black with a maple neck and I got it used for 150 bucks with original case from a coworker. Keith Richards had one so I had to have it too!
Not a significant enough difference, and tbh for a couple hundred more bucks and a little elbow grease you can make that $180 Donner play better than that $1800 Fender anyway.
Cell phone speakers suck for this sorta thing BUT.., As a player of over 50 years, the Fender has a glassier.., more bell like tone. And although I couldn’t tell here, I’ll bet it has more harmonics coming through as well. ✌🏻
The $180 is nice man.
I agree :D
most def but you can hear the difference tho
Yes the 180 sounds better
@@raecardona167well then again it’s a huge price difference
It’s really good for it price
Well the fender has obviously the fender clean tone, string definition. But I prefer the Donner.
I like how clean the Fender sounded but I definitely prefer the Donner. Very first EG I got so maybe I’m biased🤷🏻♂️
The expensive one has a smoother sound
I bet I could get some good pickups and make it sound exactly the same if not better and it'd be much more cheaper overall than $1,800. Fender is usually what I call the "Apple of Electric Guitars"
@@UniqueUsername420And while in there upgrading the pickups, upgrade the wiring to thicker better shielded wire helps with electrical noise. You could also do the wiring mod with the stock pickups to possibly hear a difference.
The Fender sounds much better but the Donner will get you in the ballpark.
The fender definitely sound better but damn the cheaper one is good😮
For what you get the donner is a crazy good deal especially the dst 152 with the coil tap push pull. Insane good deal. Even if you own 5000$ customshop. It's under 200$!!!

Me I love fender but the $180 sounds just as good I would buy it .
The expensive one sounds a little bit better, however I wouldn't buy that just for that small bit of cleaness
I don't think you buy a fender guitar for the sound. Same way you don't buy a sports wagon for getting from A to B.
excess treble is what the donner has because it has a humbucker its made for distortion, overdrive and fuzz
Finally someone left handed 🎉🎉
Nothing can beat the glassy tone of fender guitars
The fender bro ❤❤❤
I am as far from an audiophile as possible. To my dumb ears, the highs are almost identical. But there is more depth to the notes in the mid and lower frequency.
for the pricepoint donner make really nice guitars for a company that has been around for just barely over a decade
I like how he played I want you back.
The donner was gorgeous
The Fender sounds better to me, but for that price, I’m going with the Donner all day
The Fender sounded better, but that donner might be in my immediate future. I heard many great things about their basses too
Personally I'm not a huge fan of Donner. They just white label stuff from china. You can buy this stuff on those whole sale sites for significantly less (Reason why I don't work with them any more). Might even take this video down to be honest
They sound the same :)
its all about the materials, but the difference in sound is not night and day, and you would have to have the same type of strings to properly judge which I assume you did
There was a difference but both sounded really good
The Jackson 5 guitar
The Fender is much better but the Donner is really good still.
The more expensive one sounds maybe twice as good but it's 10x the price, my money is on the cheapy surprisingly
Fender will still be good in 40 years
donner makes some high quality strats
the fendern is way more brigth and “kleng kleng” idk how to describe. The 180$ is not as good as the fender but really worth the price
The Donner can sound like a Fender Stratocaster if you do some minor upgrades on the fretboard and replacing the strings with Ernie Balls
I feel like the money in the music industry is like money in the car industry. They all move, but the higher the price the more comfortable it is suppose to be. Donner is a nice guitar
The $180 one sounds fuller
For sure 👍
It’s different when you are holding it and sitting in front of the amp. But a good player can shred both.
Same
sounds like the same to me 😊😮😀
Blue WINS! 🧿
180$ sounds good, but i prefer fender, btw, donner also has a good sound like fender sound too...not too much difference between donner and fender, both sound good...
Donner🔥
The fender definitely sounded better but for 180 the donner isn’t bad at all
The Fender has a crisper sound but for $180 to get into playing, it's hard to be mad at the DST-152. Sure it doesn't sound as nice and crispy but back 10 years ago you couldn't get a fair guitar like this for under $350-500.

I think it is more not how it sounds but how you feel it in your hands)
22 frets is cool
Strummed those guitars like they owed you 180-1800 dollars haha
"I want you back"
The fender sounded better, although for $180 compared to $1800 you can definitely make them sound the same if not better if you go above 180 bucks
100% correct, If you know your way around a guitar you can get a lot more using a lot less $.
I like the the dinner if you hear it sounds like the fender like had a nume sound but idk if that was on accident
Liked the start of the blue one but I also liked the ending of the red one I honestly think it’s just u😂
It doesn't have as much to do with sound as much as it does Tuning, Durability/Reliability, Intonation and how it overall feels in your hands.
Donner sounds good but isn't worth a damn if it doesn't stay in tune all the way around the board.
Donner
Fender sounds better but donner sounds great
its more about playability )
I've been starting to think it might have a lot to do with longevity too. Cheaper guitar, cheaper material, probably wears and tears quicker
Fender sounds cleaner
Dinner 🎉
The Fender has a slightly fatter tone but I would just get a Donner and upgrade the pickups.
You so right about this. Crazy how technology has improved over the years. I think the only real difference will be longevity. The Fender is probably sourcing better material and will last longer (decades)
Fender sounds bet

180 ofc
replace the neck pickup with alnico magnet for a few $ and you get to the same place.
The 180 gets u paid the same as the 1800
Yep! 0$

Tone is no indication of quality and playability. They were virtually the same.
$180 guitar
I would love to have one myself, just can't afford it right now
I preferred Donner!
Almost the same sound, but i think fender is more clean sound..but absolutely no regret to buying donner with that small different sounded..
Which one feels better to play in what matters the most. What’s the fretwire made of out of and etc.
Donner is good for the price
Donner is very respectable but Fender has the tonal richness
The tone is almost the same
Can’t tell difference when you’re watching a band play and you’re shouting over the music with friends drinking beer
Ay cosas q no solo son la guitarra
Honestly, those Donner guitars don't sound bad, the necks are just awful
I dont have enough money I have to save more money Ill take the donner 1 star or 5 star
Song?
Was that Jackson 5
Fender
I literally can't tell the difference 😅
180$
Fender bro all they way
DONNER IS A WINNER
1800..
180$ Donner vs 180$ Squier?? :0
Not enough to justify 1800 .but your money
Donner sounded better.... dont tell Leo
Honestly, I think the donor sounds better.
Period
The cheap one can be modified without worry of messing it up.

Should of gotten a Mexican fender
Fender sounds better, but it should right?…
Donner tbh lol
Donner...
donner
Not a significant enough difference, and tbh for a couple hundred more bucks and a little elbow grease you can make that $180 Donner play better than that $1800 Fender anyway.
Hey man, how would that work? Newbie here.
$18 h
2nd
Can't tell any difference maybe the sound is int he amp
180 bit in it.
Am pro 2 of course.
The Fender is better
Donner is more chimey
Cell phone speakers suck for this sorta thing BUT.., As a player of over 50 years, the Fender has a glassier.., more bell like tone. And although I couldn’t tell here, I’ll bet it has more harmonics coming through as well. ✌🏻
Fenders its more deep and clean u could hear each note
You tell us lol
